The quality of the Folio Society's Dune is excellent. The binding is very good, the cover box is nice, the paper is a good weight, the type is clear, the end-paper maps are nice (they are the same front and back), and the paintings are nicely done. There are only a handful of paintings scattered throughout the book, but they are a nice touch. I don't particularly care of the sparkly cover, but it is fine and doesn't rub off (no silvery flakes in my hands). I'm happy with my purchase. It is pricey, but it is a quality book. The cover box is nice, but it doesn't really add any value for me. I'm not a Dune expert so I can't comment if they fixed the mistakes that are in other versions of Dune; but I didn't find any glaring mistakes.

Excellent binding, except that it lacks a bookmark ribbon. This feature is very useful in hefty volumes. The typeface could have been a little larger to benefit aging eyes. Otherwise, it is a beautiful book to hold and read. And best of all, no typos -which are typical in run-of-the-mill printings of this masterpiece.

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my boyfriend, who was already a huge fan of this book and the rest of the series. It came very carefully wrapped, the book and case are really beautiful, and the quality of the physical book and the illustrations are really phenomenal. It made a great gift. However I wouldn’t recommend it to people who aren’t already big fans— it’s a lot of money and probably only worth it if the story already holds value for you.
