I wish I as a child I had the presense of mind to understand that one day this original American superhero would be iconic and valuable. But, I never saved the originals I purchased in my youth. But this production's quality has resurrected the excitement and anticipation of a young man anticipating his next copy of "Spidey".

This edition of The Amazing Spider-man thankfully avoids all of the pitfalls of Folio's Marvel Silver Age. Printed at size, the reproduction scans are perfect representations of the original published comics. Side by side comparisons are nearly indistinguishable. The paper quality is gorgeous and the design attractive. My copy of Spider-man #121 is long gone, but opening to it in this edition I immediately re-experienced my teen-age trauma! The selection of stories is decent. There's plenty for us older fans (ASM #1, 3, 42, 121-122) and for the 90s kids there's Spider-man #300. The multi-verse is covered for the youngsters with Spider-men #2. The only disappointment is Spider-man #801 which, unlike "The Kid Who collects Spider-man" is twee in the worst way. A pity because Dan Slott wrote so many memorable stories but he went out on this most maudlin of notes.

Folio Society does not sell inexpensive items, but what you get is worth every penny. The book is put together well, and is shipped so well you don't even have to worry about it arriving in pristine condition unless the delivery truck ran over your package!
