When Cicely Mary Barker wrote and illustrated her first book, Flower Fairies of the Spring, little could she have imagined that it would be the foremost title in a best-selling series that remains beloved almost 100 years later. This new Folio Society box set sees Barker’s exquisite paintings and nature-inspired poems presented as a complete collection, in an exclusive new layout that best displays these imaginative illustrated verses. Working closely with the Frederick Warne Archive, we have carefully restored the original colour paintings, and the set also includes Barker’s line drawing decorations, as well as screen-printed bindings with individual designs inspired by fairies from each volume.
The artwork is lovely. I’ve seen various prints of these illustrations and poems over the years, and these are the only ones that weren’t pixelated or otherwise poorly reproduced. Combined with the beautiful cloth bindings and gold or silver edges, these books are an absolute pleasure to read, or just skim through the illustrations.
Great Product
This is a wonderful box set and I love the quality of the pages and illustrations, I also find the book binding wonderful but not keen on the colour choices for the cover illustrations would have preferred the original scheme or just an outline to the page backing, however this does not distract from the wonderful nostalgia of reading some much loved childhood poems

The collection of books is delightful. Each image is clear and full of colour, in a way that conveys the "age" of the work. The cloth bound covers remind me of the cherished keepsake books of my early childhood.
What a wonderful collection of The Flower Fairies.. it's a joy to look at and to read. This will definitely become one of my treasures to hand on to future generations ! Delivered speedily to France - thank-you. What a pity I have to limit my Folio purchases due to the extra taxes now imposed in Europe on orders from the UK !!!!

I have been looking for some years to find a reprint of this classic work which retains the delicacy of the original version. I've seen earlier, rather disappointing ones with hard edges to the images and inaccurate colours, but the Folio Society books are in a different league, beautifully and sensitively done - a worthy tribute to the original work..
