I've always felt closer to Kubrick's film than King's original novel but the illustrations in this edition have, for the first time, helped create a visual world for the book that exists apart from Kubrick's interpretation.
The quality of the book, like all of their other books, is very impressive. From the illustrations to the quality of the binding. A joy to hold and read :)
What a beautiful, weighty tome! The black cloth is at once stark and supple; inviting and cautioning. The tale inside is unnerving, haunting and thoughtful, and the deliciously detailed wasp on the cover really sets the tone and enhances the reading experience. I have enjoyed reading this book more than any other book I can remember over the last several years, and the binding, paper, weight, art and "all together" style is accountable for that enhanced experience. Extremely pleased and will treasure this edition always.
