Staff re-training
Maybe their drivers could drive more courteously. I was following a taxi in the tight streets around Belfast Cathedral and he just stops in the middle of the road blocking the junction even though there was room to pull in and not cause an obstruction. No thought to other road users, I certainly won't recommend this company.
Taxi thinking they can drive in a bike lane and it's not dangerous driving
Since I put a dangerous driving claim about this fonacab driver I will attach a photo were the so called representative stated that there is no bike lane on the Crumlin road that lane is for turning right and for taking over if there is a car turning right, the driver drove on a bike lane and they think that it's the responsibility of both drivers no it's not because your driver would of caused an accident to me or a bike user because he wanted to skip a few cars. Since this is there response I will be doing the same as there drivers are allowed to.
Taxi driver especially fonacab im not going to stop or change direction next time there will be an accident and the police will decide then.
Don't want to hold your drivers responseable then I will.
No sunrise that fonacabs 1.9 stars by this response and blatant lies because I had the driving lane and right of way for your driver to be on the bike lane is absolutely shock behaviour that fona cab let's be part of there practice
Experience Varies Widely
My experience with Fon-A-Cab has been alright over the years when just using them in Belfast City Centre. However, lately I am increasingly using Fon-A-Cab to get to and from Belfast International Airport, and find the drivers to be unprofessional and greedy.
I get that there is a surcharge for the drop off at the airport, but exactly how much each driver charges seems to vary widely between £3 and £7 depending on the drivers' mood. Furthermore, most drivers refuse to add the surcharge to the receipt. At the end of the day, I don't even care that much about the surcharge, but without it being listed on the receipt, I cannot claim it back from the company on expenses. Flying about 10 times per month at the moment, this rapidly adds up to a large amount of money I have to pay out of my own pocket.

I had my home address saved in the app. Booked a cab from my pickup point (saved home address) and waited for the car.
A few moments after the car was due and hadn't turned up I checked my phone and noticed a missed call from the driver. I called the driver's number twice, no reply, so I called the office.
The guy on the phone advised that the cab was booked from an address round the corner from me. As I obviously wasn't there, I had been charged a no-show fee. Confused, I advised there must be a mistake as I booked from my saved address in the app etc and not a random address!! (Please note, this was a Saturday afternoon, not after a night out!) Employee sighed and told me to email customer services and file a complaint.
I received a response on Monday morning stating they are completely within their right to charge a no-show fee..... nonsense.
I mentioned this to a few people in work who informed me that the exact same thing had happened to them. It appears the app will "search" for as close a match as possible to your location regardless of what you have actually entered.
Absolutely disgraceful.
Their app is not fit for purpose and is charging random no-show fees as a result of this. Do not use this taxi company!!!

Wrongfully charged!
I have now discovered that I have been wrongfully charged £5.00 for a supposed 'no-show'. That was not the case. In spite of my disability, I WAS at the pickup and I searched and could not find the driver. I was still looking for the driver (who hadn't bothered to try and contact me) and was in the process of trying to call them (through the app) when the booking was arbitrarily cancelled - BY FONACAB - NOT ME! I have used this company for decades and have often recommended them - but if this money is not refunded, I will no longer do either. This is sharp practice and leaves innocent customers at the mercy of the caprice of bad drivers!

booked a taxi hours in advance to pick me up at 6:15 after work on a friday. i sat and waited and saw a fonacab taxi pulling up across from me and in the 3 seconds that i had glanced at my phone to check if the reg matched my booking a group of lads with suitcases were at the taxis window. the driver saw me approaching the car and signalled the men to get in. i assume they wanted a lift to the airport and the taxi chose them over me to bank a few extra quid. not ideal as it’s not easy to get a taxi in the city centre on a friday night and i was left to wait 20 minutes for another one after a 10 hour shift. thanks fonacab x
Beware hidden charges
Needed a short trip to the city airport in Belfast at 6:30 on a Sat morning. We were 7 minutes away from the airport and thought the quoted £11 was a bit high but couldn't get a response from Uber so accepted it. We were dropped off and got a bill for £15.20. According to Fonacabs own records this was a 7 minute trip, no traffic, no waiting. On complaining to Fonacab they say £5 charge for dropping off at the airport was added on. What is the point of giving an estimated trip cost if they dont include known add ons. I also researched the airport charges which are £3 so not happy that they estimated wrong, failed to let me know until after we had been charged. I am not sure if there were other options but too expensive for what it was.
Birthday dinner ruined by poor service
Pre-booked a taxi 5 hours in advance but it of course didn't turn up. Called the company and was advised if would be another 15-20 minutes. Half an hour later and still no taxi. Called the restaurant and asked to hold table but was advised they could only hold for half an hour. Birthday dinner ruined, thank you phonacab
Go for Valuecab instead
Go for Valuecab instead. DRIVERS CAN JUST TAKE MONEY if they make a "mistake" finding you, even if location is entered correctly in the app - customer service won't correct it. Drivers throw out forgotten luggage rather than return them to lost and found, and are permitted to loudly berate customers - again, customer service do nothing.
Definitely recommend this company for wheel chair taxi
I want to let people know how good the driver with the wheel chair facility is. I booked a wheel chair taxi to and from respite for my mother who is 90 years old and normally bedbound. Morris was our driver and he was fantastic very pleasant and thorough with safety of the wheel chair. He was on time both times and had mum there and back in no time. I would definitely recommend this company and if you need a wheelchair taxi ask for Morris.

I frequently travel to Belfast and have always found Fonacab reliable, punctual and cost effective. On 31 October 2024, I accidentally left my mobile in the taxi and the driver dropped it off at the hotel I was staying free of charge. Excellent service!
The app doesn't account for morning traffic??
I pre-booked a taxi a day in advance through the app for a morning pick up. The driver never showed up. I called the company to find out that no matter that I had pre-booked the app doesn't account for morning traffic...! The app was showing no driver in my area and that they were still assigning a driver even after the pick up time! The person I chatted to on the phone said they will not charge me the cancellation fee but that remains to be seen. I almost missed my bus to the airport as I had to make other arrangements in the middle of morning traffic....I will not be using them again.
Terrible customer service
Terrible customer service. I pre booked a taxi for my 16 year old daughter who just got her first job hours in advance for 1.30 in the morning. They just don’t bother turning up so cancel the fair with no contact (they do this regularly if it doesn’t suit the driver) but charged me £8.40 anyway? This is another thing they do regularly so watch your accounts. Dodgy company who have taken money from my account on several occasions completely unacceptable. I will report this time as it’s now beyond a joke. Unfortunately in NI there isn’t much choice but to use them but they should be held to account for the dodgy charges this company is very wealthy

The Parlour, Elmwood Ave, Belfast for 23:10 last night, 1st June. Despite waiting outside with my friend ( 2 females) and actually being early to ensure we didn’t miss the driver no taxi showed up. We were desperate to get home and had no choice but to get an uber. This cost 30 pounds( home: Belfast). I have been charged 5 pounds for a ‘no show’ and have had to pay an extortionate amount for a taxi through no fault of my own , despite prebooking on thr Fonacab app . This is not an acceptable service . The situation has been made worse due to not actually being able to speak to someone with regards to this.. I would not recommend anyone booking via this company.
Cabs who cannot read an address
When you book a cab, double check the booking and details.
The driver went to the wrong address, the cab company had no solution causing me too miss my flight and forced me to spend £188 pounds on another ticket, missed my meetings.

But do Not use the pre booking service, or if you do, call 20 min before, and repeat your call every 5 minutes until you have confirmation a driver is on the way. Pregbookings are normally just ignored, so you have to keep calling well in advance
