Very helpful staff - I am happy that I ended up with the best policy to suit my requirements.
Great communication
Great communication, friendly, positive and comprehensive advice. My car is period replica and not the most straight forward car to insure but F.J's advisor was particularly helpful.
Friendly and helpful staff that explain…
Friendly and helpful staff that explain things clearly. Documents that lay out all aspects of cover with associated costs for each element that is easy to understand.
Great customer service.
I had a fair few issues when trying to insure my two classic cars but the customer service sorted everything out for me and explained where things had gone wrong which was nobody’s fault. I’ll keep coming back, yes all policies have increased in price but the benefits with FJ make up for that.
Excellent and swift response
Excellent and swift response
Jess was very helpful and closed the query straight away
I now understand why Footman James now have a POOR 2.2 Trustpilot rating.
Been a Footman James customer for a while now. Received a renewal notice from Daniel Beorby dated 16th December 2025 stating my classic car insurance would be £260.28 commencing 14th Janaury 2026. That is a rise of nearly £100!!, last year I paid £134.84 plus £30.00 arrangement fee for Footman James to secure a policy with AGEAS.
My son needs to renew his car insurance policy ( I am a named driver ) as of 28th December 2025. He obtained comparison website quotes but could not finalise the best quote for payment as there is allegedly £210 outstanding to AGEAS from a no fault incident with my classic car from May 2025 in which my wife was knocked off her chair and ended up being run over.
I tried to call Footman James without success, so I sent an email on the 22nd December ( I have a delivery receipt for the email ) requesting they give this matter their immediate attention. Explaining time is of the essence and my son needs to insure his vehicle. That was two days ago !!!
Obviously Footman James have no respect for time. My son looks like he is going to have to insure his car without me as a named driver.
If my son has had quotes, that include me as a named driver, at a higher insurance premium ( due to the alleged outstanding £210 to Ageas ) then I am beginning to wonder whether this situation has caused my own classic car insurance for the forthcoming year to increase by nearly £100?
I can not comment on Footman James customer service because as at the time of writing this review it is none existant.
As a footnote..........will I be renewing my classic car insurance with Footman James in January 2026......thats a GREAT BIG NO!
Insured my 2 classic cars for years…not anymore
Insured my 2 classic cars for years with Footman James, this years renewal 25% more than last year with zero changes in cars or circumstances.
Got a quote from Hagerty, what a difference, knowledgeable sensible approach and cheaper than last years FJ policy.
Sorry FJ, you've lost your way, no better than an everyday provider any more.
5 star service
Having made the initial contact via an online quote for a car I was buying there was a delay in taking the policy out, this prompted a call from them to check if the quote was competitive and why I hadn’t proceeded with it. I explained that when I collect the car I would call to discuss further details, which they were happy to do. The call a few days later was handled very efficiently, everything explained clearly and the price was as quoted. I had documents sent via post and email, the agreed value forms and pictures were sent back, this prompted a email from Natasha to clarify the value of the car, which was sorted out very quickly and the value was agreed.
Very efficient service from start to finish. 5 star service.
Waste of time
Waste of time. !!
Called 3 days ago for motor trade quote. Spent 45 minutes on phone. They called me again ask more questions. Then got an email saying can’t help and Joshua who wasted my time has gone away for 2 weeks.
Bloody annoying

Beware if you want to cancel your policy after first month you will get charged 33.3% of annual policy price!!!! Unlike all other insurance companies who let you cancel anytime with usual £50 fee Footman James will charge you 33.3% +£25 cancellation fee.
What a joke ... Avoid!!!
How to lose a loyal customer.
Have used Footman James over the years for various classic cars. My insurance was due for renewal 5th August , however due to surgery , I will not be driving again until the end of September. I asked if they would keep my renewal quote on ice until I was fit.
Val advised me they could not do that. After asking to speak to a manager she then stated they could hold for 30 days.
I needed it held till the end of September.
They have lost a Customer and zi will he advising my family to cancel also.
I will be asking for a copy of the recorded telephone call.
Go insure with a reputable , honest company.
