Just paid for premium. Didn't let me download images for 5 mins, then worked for a minute, then completely stopped recognising me as a Premium account... completely stuck with their AI 'help' promising the world and delivering nothing... on a deadline here, just need what I paid for and can't even get a refund

I am extremely disappointed and writing to express my concern regarding an unauthorized upgrade on my Freepik account. Without my consent, my account was upgraded from Premium to Premium+, and I was charged a total of $232 (approximately R4,167) as part of a recurring payment setup.
The charges were as follows:
$44
$132
$19.48 (charged three times)
Following this, my bank advised me to cancel my debit card to prevent further unauthorized deductions. As a result, the card used for the payment is no longer active.
I have contacted their support team regarding a refund, and I understand that their policy is to process refunds to the original payment method. However, my bank has confirmed that it is not possible to reactivate the cancelled card.
Given the circumstances, I kindly request that you consider an alternative refund method or provide guidance on how to proceed. Still hoping that Freepik team gets back to me with a solution.
I appreciate your assistance in resolving this matter urgently.
Updated Review: Jul 10, 2025
I'm updating my review to thank the Freepik team for resolving my issue. Although my account was initially upgraded to Premium+ without my consent and I was charged multiple amounts, the support team responded to my concern and refunded the full amount.
I appreciate their assistance and the fact that they honored the refund even though my original payment card had been cancelled. Thank you for handling the situation professionally.
Wanted to download a black image and the image wasn't even black, it had weird white fuzz around it, absolutely ruined my edit and I nearly lost my career because of it

---------------------
I was a die-hard fan of Freepik, which I knew long before it became what it is now, long before the site had all these features, and even before it was called Freepik, when it was still called Wepik!
I was there and stayed all this time, despite the increasingly stupid censorship that was rampant, where even the words "pool" and "swimsuit" were banned!
I was there, I went through it all! Then I saw Flux arrive for Kling for videos, I saw their AI assistant arrive, I've always been there...
But Freepik had already surprised and disappointed me when this site invented the Premium+ subscription... I had subscribed to Premium... Premium+ didn't exist yet... But when Freepik invented the Premium+ subscription (which doesn't replace the Premium subscription in the various subscriptions but is a different formula), my Premium subscription changed to a Premium+ subscription (obviously, it's not the same price!) and when I want to cancel my Premium+ subscription to downgrade to a Premium one (the one I had before, in fact!), Freepik tells me that I can't... That with subscriptions I can only upgrade, i.e., move up a level (and pay more) or cancel the subscription but not subscribe to a plan at a lower level than the one I'm leaving.
After a conversation completely sterile with Freepik's customer service, I am able to say today that I am leaving Freepik and will not return but also that if I am asked, for this stupid and very unfriendly behavior of Freepik, I would advise against subscribing even to the cheapest subscription that the site offers! This is what Freepik has gained by playing the bully with its allies !
Edit of July 31, 2025 after Freepik's answer below: I have already contacted customer service who simply told me that we cannot subscribe to a cheaper plan, we can renew the subscription we have or take a more expensive subscription but not take a cheaper subscription (!!!!!!) If that's how it is, then ciao for me because it is scandalous and definitely unacceptable!!

Freepik couldn't even generate one correct image after numerous prompts and variations of prompts. Duplicate people appear in the photo where they are not supposed to be. Faces are distorted in the image even when upscaled. Edits applied to an image can produce unexpected alterations to the image. I don't think I would pay for a subscription with these sort of results.
After subscribing to it, as if I have hired an assistant designer for myself.. I truly get what I want,,,
I use Freepik frequently as background pictures and borders for poems for a small Poetry group. I have the free membership and I never leave out the appropriate attribution credit on the document. I am thrilled with the vast amount of vectors and pictures that are available, no matter what the topic is! This is a wonderful resource for encouraging new poets to see their work displayed as keepsakes for their friends and families. I do not charge for my services…..I love providing backgrounds for beautiful words.
Freepik is the best graphic design content!
Great selection (for free!) of photos and graphics that remain clear when enlarged. These photos help my presentations really pop!
I paid for the Freepik annual plan in July 2024, but by March 2025 I no longer had access to the annual plan. Today, June 23rd, I was charged again for the annual plan without my knowledge. I am not interested in continuing with Freepik's services, and yet I was charged without prior notice. I want my subscription to be canceled immediately, the amount refunded, and my credit card removed from the platform urgently. They used a different card from the first time. I don’t know how they got access to this card! Be careful!
Paid for Premium But Got Scammed (Still Stuck on Free Version!)
I upgraded to Freepik Premium, paid the full amount, and received a payment confirmation yet my account remains stuck in Free Mode.Despite multiple attempts to contact customer support, no resolution has been provided for days. This is outright false advertising and a waste of money.
WARNING TO OTHERS Freepik’s system is unreliable, and their support is unresponsive.
I tested it with writing a French woman, a Jewish woman, an Arab woman, a Russian woman and so on....it literally created the same face over and over and over again with zero adjustment! What's worse, if you really don't like the style of the face then it's tough luck! Sometimes it creates images of people with the limbs attached the wrong way such as feet!
They promise up to 120 AI videos on their pricing page - Yes, it can vary, but I never expected you would get only 3! from 120 to 3 veo3 videos. They need to be clear about this on their pricing page as it's misleading. so here's what happened:
- I generated 1 video without realizing how many credits it'll consume. Once the video was generated (which was bad too - didnt even download it), I saw my credit drop 33% instantly, until I realized that 8 seconds veo 3 video took all that credit.
- Got mad, when I was under the assumption that you can generate up to 120 video, yes, it can vary, but I couldn't find any logic for it to vary this MUCH! Therefore, they should be honest about it on their pricing.
- I reached out out to their customer support team, telling them the story
- They told me I've used my credits and downloaded the videos
- I asked for proof, cause I didn't download the video, and sent them a screenshot
- they said you've used 33% of the credits - which was that ONEEE video btw.
- I'm trying to ask for a refund but they don't care and said they won't refund.
TO FREEPIK: You're deceiving people!
Now that I know that veo3 does cost alot more than the others, cause I started having some understanding, doesn't mean everyone new will instantly know - So instead of you being clear about it, you're letting users (that dont have much knowledge) give it a try until they find out their pocket is bleeding.
Don't Use freepik!! Use any other APIs, it's still cheaper.
FYI, I joined them cause they advertised about their veo3 integration, so I expect the pricing page is relevant to veo3 too.
Love the variety of options that platform has to offer, especially in terms of AI Suite.
Customer service is also great!
I wanted a video for which I provided a script, dialogue and images. I was promised a video with voiceover using my images. What I got was some crappy images they created (some completely unrelated, some from their storyboard or something) but no video and no audio files. And of course they took a LOT of my credits to produce absolutely nothing! What a royal ripoff!
Our Freepik account has encountered numerous critical bugs that have impacted our operations, all related to the Pikaso AI image generator. Here are a couple of examples:
1. Moving images from one folder to another, and renaming a populated folder, completely erased images inside permanently. Hundreds of hand-picked branding images gone. Support couldn't fix this and no compensation for the lost hours and credit was offered.
2. Dashboard shows an incorrect (lower tier) plan, which prevents our team from using the features in the actual plan we pay for according to invoice. This was never fixed and our other seat cannot use all the features we pay for.
3. If you add more than 1 seat to your plan, you cannot purhcase extra credits. Downgrading is not possible, support recommended to let our current billing period end and subscribe again with just 1 seat.
Replies take around 24 hours, and the replies themselves are mainly entry level questions which any tech-savvy person would have already explored. No actual technical support is offered.
The only reason we use the platform is the easiness of it, how we can create style presets and easily change between modes or aesthetic. This is what makes Freepik amazing, but as it stands we cannot even use it.
the new freepik website design is so annoying, impossible to find any pictures from same author, its INSANELY ANNOYING
OK. So they've refunded on the basis of my review. Which I appreciate (and I have thus toned it down) but it doesn't change the fact I burned through my entire monthly credits in about half an hour trying to do something I felt should be simple (Runway has previously got it just about right). I found their AI Assistant (taught to speak like a tech bro) constantly contradicted itself when I turned to it for help and wasted my time by claiming it could do what I wanted before admitting it couldn't. Perhaps there is some information somewhere explaining how many video generations you can actually do on an Essential plan but I didn't expect to burn through all my credits simply trying out each model. It was frustrating that no model could achieve it (not FreePik's fault, I guess) but doubly so to discover that I could do nothing more having achieved nothing. There's an inherent problem with AI generators that offer no free trials. You're essentially paying upfront for something that may not be any good for your needs.

I previously rated their customer service a 1 of 5 stars but their team reached out to me after my subscription was (wrongly) cancelled and rectified the issue.
They were very kind and responded promptly, fixing the technical problem I encountered and extending my subscription to compensate for the error.
They really lived up to the brand perception I had of them.
Will definitely continue to use thier service.
