Poor
Poor. I made the first draft & as it is free I deliberately included a mistake which was that whilst I named a charity as the main beneficiary I didn't provide the address.
The Will was sent to me 24 hrs later having presumably been checked and passed by a solicitor as they say in their promotional blurb and nothing was mentioned about the omission. Further, there was no automatic provision stating what would happen to the money going to to charity in the event it didn't exist anymore i.e. I wasn't given the chance to state the amount intended for my chosen charity should be redirected to a similar charity in event of the original charity no longer existing. As the Will stood, it was written that the amounts to charity would revert back into the Will if the Charity no longer existed but then was silent on what should happen next!! This was a standard automatic wording which was unacceptable and due to the template nature of the Will I could find no area where I could rewrite this part of the Will. Moreover, I wanted to include a Letter of Wishes with the Will but there was no provision for that either. As it's free I shouldn't really complain but I should say if you have anything more than a few thousand to leave/have slightly unusual bequests to make you should go to a paid service.
Edit: 05/05/25. To any reader, following the very rude and aggressive comments from Freewills made on 01/05/25 - almost 2 months after I gave this review please note the following:
Freewills state their Wills do not include addresses of charities as charities change address. Well, that may be but, following a thorough exploration of FreeWills template on the back of their comments to me, I would ask that if Freewills believe Charities change their addresses, why do they request the address of the charity in the questionnaire template only to ignore the provided address when the Will is produced? Remember, the Freewills comment states "donations in our wills do not include the addresses of charities,".
Regards the comment on me going to them for a bespoke Will they have clearly missed the point that I was commenting on the effectiveness of completing a Will for free using their online template. I assume that the bespoke service would of course attract a fee but I was commenting on the Free service. They don't seem capable of understanding that.
On the "Expression of Wishes" letter I mention, this is only dealt with in their template if you select an option to exclude a close family member, as I wasn't trying to exclude anyone the letter of wishes was not mentioned. Further, although the letter of wishes is mentioned if you are trying to exclude close family members, it does not provide any box into which you insert your letter of wishes, nor is any mention made of of it being added "as an appendix" to the Will. Indeed, it is difficult to see how it could be added (outside of the person writing the Will manually completing a separate hard copy of a letter of wishes which they would then add to the Will when they print it out, which is not made clear on the website) as there is no provision in the template for a letter of wishes to be completed - they simply state you should complete a letter of wishes but do not say where it should be placed.
Therefore, had Freewills read and understood my final line of my comment dated 07/03/25, they would not have made these comments which demonstrate a lack of knowledge of their own template. As I said in my original comment, it's free, so you get what you pay for, but if you have anything more than a few thousand or have slightly unusual bequests to make you should go to a paid service which would seem to agree with the first line of the final paragraph of their comment, but they can't see that.
Previously, I advised any reader that unless they had a set of simple wishes or a small estate to leave they should not use this free service. I still stand by that comment but in light of the late, rude, insulting and unprofessional comment from Freewills where they demonstrate a lack of knowledge of their own template/questionnaire I would add that you should consider whether you really want to engage with people like this.

easy to use.
I paid money for a service I did not receive
I paid extra for a bound copy which I never received. I emailed in and let them know, and they said they sent another copy out. I still have not received a copy and my further email has not been answered. Do not recommend.

Free wills is simply Fantastic
If you are seeking to write your last Will and testament Free wills is the place for you, from complex to simple wills these people are fantastic.
From start to finish writing my will took about 15 minutes, the online service is simple to understand with no confusing Jargon to deal with, I will/have recommended these people to my family and friends without hesitation.
Fantastic!
Job done
I found the whole process very straight forward and simple to use. There are explanatory links throughout the sections that guide you if required. I would highly recommend and will be telling my friends and family about the service. I like the fact that you have the option to tip rather than it being prerequisite which I’m sure and would hope is a winning formula. It’s also a relief to tick off one of those boxes you readily put off until another day and potentially save a lot of unnecessary stress and upset.
Got what I needed..
Got what I needed... A simple low-cost Will (quick and easy with plenty of jargon-busting guidance throughout the process).
