This retreat was just amazing

This retreat was just amazing. I have never taken part in a silent retreat, and found it a little awkward at first…. However, as the treat went on, it was marvellous to share the silence with others and be able to relax in their company.
The meditation sessions were very good, and food excellent ( thanks to Anna)
Catherine was inspirational, warm, and understanding.
I will be going again ( but in the summer!)…. It was very wet and cold 🥶

My friends gifted me a session of…

My friends gifted me a session of meditation with Katherine and Yogi. I didn’t know what to expect as I’m not massively into meditation but I love horses so much. It was a calm and relaxing experience, it allowed me to breath and just be for the time it lasted. It was lovely to see how Katherine knows her horses and how she managed to create a very healthy environment for them. Yogi was very chill and calming and my highlight and happiest moment was definitely being able to lie down next to him. I felt my experience was short as I struggle with opening up and I’d definitely need more time but I would recommend it! Thank you Katherine 🙏🏻

This was my first retreat

This was my first retreat. I booked the silent retreat the first week of March learn how to meditate and being guided through them felt for me, was exactly what I needed as well as a digital detox. I met wonderful and amazing people that I already miss.

Thank you Katherine and to Yogi and Ellie for creating a peaceful and healing space. I can't remember how I came across Meditate With Horses and I'm glad I did.

This was the first retreat I had ever…

This was the first retreat I had ever been on. I recognized, after facing extreme personal loss, that my grief required something different, something intentional. I cannot express how glad I was to have chosen this retreat. It was exactly what I needed, when I didn't even know what I needed going in. Katherine has created something extremely beautiful here, and I cannot recommend it enough.

I went into this knowing I would be outside of my comfort zone. The silence, the digital detox, the hours of meditation, the food, the horses, individually are such intense practices. To have done them all together was extraordinary, and I felt such release afterwards. I hope every retreat I go on after this is just as beautiful, because this has set the bar very high.

Amazing regulating practice...

I booked this experience for my partner and I as a finale to a nature based weekend in the lake district and I'm so glad that I did.
We spent a very grounded and peaceful 2 hours with Katherine, Yogi and Ellie, being shown how to be present in the moment.
Spending time so close with the horses responding to (mainly) Yogis requests for contact, and being repaid with snuffles and regulation was incredible.
Definitely recommend Meditate with Horses to anyone that wants to experience the bond with nature that these beauties offer.

Heartfelt thank you…

would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Katherine for creating such a beautiful silent retreat experience. These six days were truly amazing and difficult to put into words. The connection with the horses and with the group, all without speaking, was something incredibly special and deeply meaningful.
Katherine is a wonderful host. Her place is very cosy and welcoming, and the food was absolutely excellent clearly prepared with so much love and care.
The location is also stunning, surrounded by beautiful nature with a lovely little forest nearby. Even in March it felt magical, so I can only imagine how beautiful it must be in spring. The retreat is also very close to the lake, which makes the setting even more peaceful and special.
I would absolutely love to come back one day and play my drum in the beautiful yew forest.

Thank you, Katherine, for such a memorable and heartfelt experience.

A wonderful rejuvenating retreat.

A wonderful, rejuvenating retreat set in stunning landscapes.
Katherine, the hostess is a lovely, kind, nurturing soul- someone with whom you feel safe to release old damaging thought patterns and welcome new energies and insights through group meditation and the deeply grounding presence of the horses. The horses are practised meditators, peaceful and beautiful and very quickly bond with newcomers. To meditate with a horse is an unforgettable experience.
Add to this wonderfully healthy cooked food and great accommodation and you won’t be disappointed.
A life-changing and life-affirming retreat.

Worthwhile experience. 😊

Katherine is a beautiful soul, her knowledge is vast and from the point of booking it felt right. Katherine was welcoming, had planned it well, the food was lovely, filling and the area was perfect. The horse experience was great, and although meditation felt it was long it was well prepared, guided and helped me get better at feeling. Katherine gave different methods to meditate and it gave me a chance to sit through discomfort without shifting the projection onto an external thing. Katherine is someone that i definitely enjoyed being around feeling safe, peaceful and supported through the silen t retreat.

A wonderful experience - highly recommended

This was my first retreat, and I had no idea what to expect. I did the silent meditating with horses retreat, and it was wonderful. Host Katherine is inspirational: she has created a space where I felt completely safe and supported, and combines that with real insight, understanding and compassion. She is somehow incredibly energetic yet calming, and extremely caring. The horses are equally impressive, and I was very pleased by the amount of time we spent with them, up close and hands on, under her guidance. As a newcomer to meditation, I initially found that aspect a bit daunting but really did find it helpful and therapeutic.

For me it was the perfect opportunity to press pause for a few days after a difficult year, and being silent and giving up my phone for a few days gave me time and space to reflect and consider in a way I have never really done.

My room was very comfortable and the food was fantastic – healthy, nutritious, vegetarian and delicious.

I never thought I would do something like this; I arrived feeling completely overwhelmed and left feeling calm and energised, with new tools to take forward with me.

I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Cannot recommend this enough

Katherine has a way of making you feel at home and at ease that I’ve never experienced anywhere else before. It was a deeply reflective time for me, which was in and of itself amazing. But she honed an environment that made it easy to do so too.

Her cooking was incredible, her energy was amazing and aside from the guided meditations (which I found both enlightening and calming), in the 10 minutes I spent finally talking during the sharing circle at the end, she gave me more to consider and think about than months of therapy gave me. It was profound to me.

Highly recommend going to do this.

I came across this retreat by chance…so thankful I did

I came across this retreat by chance and was instantly drawn to the idea of silent mediation in the company of horses. After a few very difficult years personally, I wasn’t looking to “fix” anything - I simply needed space, rest, and something nourishing. When this retreat appeared online, I knew immediately it was the one.
From the moment I arrived, I felt deeply cared for. Katherine’s warmth, the delicious food, and the peaceful energy of my beautiful pink and blue room set the tone for the whole experience. Meeting my fellow guests too on the arrival evening, felt as if we had known each other for much longer than a few hours. The gentle structure of the days was incredibly calming. Mornings were my own - time to walk along the beach, explore the nearby National Trust woods on a run, or simply be, read, and journal. That freedom, held within such a safe setting, was profoundly restorative.
Each afternoon was spent with Stan, the gentle giant of a shire horse, whose presence was unlike anything I’ve experienced before. Being with him in silence brought a deep sense of peace and grounding that is hard to put into words. Evenings closed with meditation, anchoring the day and deepening the stillness and experience.
Silence itself became a surprisingly easy and welcome gift - creating a quiet and safe space to be yourself, and a calm that has stayed after the retreat ended. Leaving the silence together and sharing the closing circle was joyful and deeply moving. I wasn’t sure what to expect, however this (simple) break has been transformative, and which I know will have a lasting impact. I cannot recommend this retreat highly enough and will absolutely return.

Appropriately supportive/non-intrusive

A non-intrusive yet appropriately supportive, reflective retreat space, bringing peace and quiet for silent contemplation and data-detox.
The equines add that extra special touch of peacefulness to show you how. Excellent food and spacious room. A lovely and hard-working hostess.

Peaceful and reflective space

First silent retreat so not sure what to expect. The retreat was well planned and explained, great food, horses amazing presence, meditations structured but not intrusive, time for coastline walks and rest. So being silent with no screen/phone time was a peaceful and reflective space to just be. Thank you Katherine and equines.

One of the most incredible experiences

I went on the week-long silent meditation retreat with horses because I felt completely overloaded. I was navigating perimenopause and becoming a carer, with no real space in my life, just constant to-do lists and mental chatter. I got more out of the experience than I ever could have hoped for.

Katherine has a deeply grounded warmth that made me feel completely held throughout the week. She has so much wisdom to share and the way she facilitated the week made it feel like a year of therapy in a short space of time; gently processing childhood trauma, letting go of long-held negative thought patterns, and feeling deeply spiritually connected.

Meditating with the horses was beautiful. I felt present, calm, and deeply regulated in a way that’s hard to put into words. The meditations were powerful, and the horses are truly gorgeous. I had many special moments grooming them and simply being with them.

But it’s so much more than that. The wisdom, the company, the food, the beautiful surroundings, the perfect balance of activities and time to yourself.

I left with more space, clarity, and a real sense of coming back to myself.

This retreat saved me from myself.

This retreat saved me at a time I was so buried in grief from a recent passing and childhood trauma that I wasn't sure i could continue in a world so empty. With Kathryn's compassion, nuture and calming ways she gave me the space to breathe again. I was apprehensive as ive never done a silent retreat but it created an environment for me to be me again. I was also nervous of the big Shire horse but by day two felt comfortable around Stan to get cuddles and shed a tear or three. Very safe space from my shared ladies on the retreat where although we didn't speak we communicated in our way. The guided meditation was beautiful and plenty of downtime to read her lovely books and take a walk around the stunning area of Arnside. Learnt so much, shed the month long headache I was carrying and found my oxygen again. Will never forget the experience and will definitely be doing this or similar in the future.x

Profound, gentle, accessible, and deeply restorative

I did the Silent meditation with horses retreat and if I had to sum it up in as few words as possible I’d say it was profound, peaceful, unexpectedly emotional, and a welcome homecoming.

In more words: Katherine holds a very gentle space with such presence and skill. There's so much that clearly goes into the organisation from behind the scenes, from the food to the time with the horses to the guided meditations back home and more - a lot to keep on top of! Even though Katherine has all this to organise, she still shows up to each session with an abundance of calm, deep presence, and easeful intuitive guiding.

Before arriving I was really quite stressed. But I left the retreat with a renewed appreciation for, and understanding of Winter, silence, wordless communication, and the way time can stretch long and slow when there is nowhere else to go.

I got to reconnect with horses and meditation in a thoughtfully accessible way that even lead to naps in the lounge, which shows how relaxed I felt as I'm not usually a napper in group spaces!

It's hard to even put it all into words, as so much happened in my internal process, which I am very grateful to Katherine for and this beautiful part of the world and the horses. I already miss my quiet, peaceful room in the sanctuary of a home Katherine welcomed is into.

Final point - I have coeliac so have to eat gluten free and Katherine was very good about making the meals gluten free and helping keep me safe food wise. I felt very well nourished and my tummy was happy with the food. Even though it was a silent retreat, she made use of written notes if there was anything to cover about the food so that was really helpful and reassuring for me.

Truly wonderful experience

I booked because I had wanted to do a silent retreat for a while and I had no idea I could do this with horses. It popped up online and I immediately knew this was the one to do. I didn’t really have any expectations or actually any burning issues to resolve, or so I thought! it just seemed something good to do. So to say I was not disappointed is a massive understatement. I arrived in the evening and was greeted with so much warmth by Katherine. Warmth and a delicious dinner and that was the running theme throughout the five days. I just felt so well looked after, it was wonderful. There were three of us in the group so we had a brief opportunity to talk with each other before entering silence the following morning.
After breakfast we went to meet Katherine’s beautiful horses, Ellie and Yogi. Our introduction to them was gentle - some brushing and letting them find their way around us. There was a preliminary guided meditation and after a while the horses came and stood with us. It’s difficult to describe the effect they have but it is one of profound peace as you absorb their energy and I guess, they yours. Over the next few days we all felt increasingly at ease with them and they with us. It was so beautiful. The afternoons were spent in guided meditation and there was also time to explore the lovely village of Arnside - the beach is just down the road from the house. The locals did not seem at all offended by a warm smile in response to their friendly hellos! Evenings were free to meditate, read or write a journal. Katherine also gave me the most incredible massage midway through the week. An optional extra but well worth it. Most of the people I told before I went were pretty amused at the idea I could be silent for 4 days but I didn’t find it hard at all. It was actually so freeing and this is the surprising bit: Having gone really just for a break, the impact the whole experience has had on me has been profound and lasting. Within less than a week after my return I calmly, but with absolute conviction, moved away from a situation that has been difficult for me for many years and that till now I did not know how to handle. I never expected that to happen. There is no doubt that if you are open to the experience it will bring up “stuff” but you are so protected there and if you need to talk to Katherine in that time she is always there for you. I so recommend this on any number of levels and needless to say will be back as soon as I can.Thank you so much Katherine x

A Homecoming to Stillness

This experiences not only left an impression it recalibrated me.

The four days I spent in silence with the horses felt like a reunion with peace as a living, breathing presence. I felt held, witnessed, and gently invited back into awe. The stillness wasn’t empty. It was alive. And within that silence, something in me softened and re-opened.
There was forgiveness, of self, of the body, of the past.
There was the kind of rest that sleep alone can’t provide.
There was a deep sense of being looked after by something ancient, something sacred.

To be without tech, surrounded by nature, and held in the field of such wise, sentient beings - the horses, was healing beyond words. I made peace with parts of myself I didn’t even know were still holding tension. My nervous system sighed in relief. My heart cleared. The present moment wrapped around me like a warm shawl, and I remembered how good it feels to simply be.

And of course, beloved Katherine who held it all together with her radiant love, exquisitely expressed through her delicious cooking!

If you’re longing to return to your essence to remember what’s real, this retreat is a portal.
I’ll be going back.
With love,
Haider
