The set up was easy. I like that you can add more than just a handful of contacts. I like that the text messages come through in my regular messages instead of having to use the app to text. I am very... See more

Gabb is an American technology company that specializes in safe tech for kids and parent education. With kid cell phones and kid smart watches, Gabb offers the solution to digital communication in steps, offering parents peace of mind. Gabb prioritizes the safety and the mental health of children.
Gabb offers a safer, simpler mobile experience designed specifically for kids. With a focus on essential communication features, Gabb devices block access to the internet and harmful apps.
Gabb Wireless devices were intended to provide a basic, locked down alternative to adult smartphones with features such as calling and texting parent-approved contacts, GPS tracking, safe zones, and SOS alerts. At the same time, they lack features such as internet browsing, social media access, and app stores.
Gabb devices have safety built in with their own operating system. This sets them apart from competitors, since they don’t require complicated parental controls to protect kids’ devices. Instead, their devices are locked down from the start.
Gabb’s goal is to provide parents a no stress way to connect with their kids without exposing them to potential risks and distractions associated with unregulated smartphone access.
Gabb’s CEO Nate Randle actively advocates for single parents and safe tech for kids.

Had an issue with accidentally setting up multiple contracts for 1 phone, messaged support and they were able to refund the second charge, make sure everything on the account is correct, and answer all the questions I had. It was a very good experience.

My daughter has had her Gabb phone for almost a week now. She likes the games/apps on it (which I enabled) and being able to have her own phone especially when she leaves the house. I like that it shows her location and she’s only able to call/be called by people who are approved by me in her contact list. It’s a much safer alternative than just a regular phone!

It was quick and helpful getting us rolling on a new device! Thank you Katelyn and Sierra!

We so appreciate Gabb services. It limits access to most apps that are known concerns for parents. There are a few glitches needing to be worked on. As with any electronic, kids find a way to go around the parental controls and find and use apps that should not be allowed on. Gabb says they flag pictures or certain texts, but we’ve had issues of those things not being flagged via certain apps. GroupMe is a denied app, and I’m not even sure how VLC works, but these need to be blocked from Gabb. However, we like how nearly all social media apps are blocked.
That aside, we appreciate the fact we can see our kids phone locations, whether they’re out with friends or lost their phones. You can be more proactive with who your kids are able to have as contacts on their phone, or let them manage that. You can have more or less restrictions on who or what is allowed for texting/calling/video calling/pictures/videos that can be received or sent, and give your kids the reigns on how to handle their phones as you see maturity.
My kids really enjoy the different gaming apps, music, Duolingo, CamScanner, and other apps they use for school.
We would recommend Gabb to parents who want to get their kids a phone.

Update: the location... Is terrible. It's so behind. My kids are moving from place to place and their watches are not keeping up at all. It's frustrating.. It's the #1 reason I wanted the way he's. May have to find something that does a better job at this.
Update: support helped me to reset the watch and it seems to have resolved the issue
I like that it is simple and no internet. I do not like that the layout has changed and I can't find my kids' task list anymore.

I’ve been very impressed with the entire Gabb purchase, setup and support process. We just bought a watch for our son and it’s been very easy and watch works great so far (it’s been 2 days).

Great service! I’ve had my gabb watch for a little over a year and a half. It stopped holding a charge and had no problem getting a new one. Great customer service!! They even sent a new upgraded watch.

The service works great. Had to replace the phone because it fell and broke, but since I had the insurance, they replaced it very quickly. No hassle.

Gabb set up has become so much easier in the last few years.
Way less updates too. We have added a few lines over the years and love it more and more.
I would like to have a photo editor on the devices in the future. And the gabb maps can't find our location.

EDITED:originally 1 star, but changed to 3 stars. After my review, Gabb reached out to me to make things right. They shipped a new device to me & were helpful in getting it set up. I just wish I didn’t have to go through the extremely frustrating process to get a new device! They were originally zero help, but after the negative review, they were very accommodating.
Why not have helpful customer service right away, to provide a positive experience for your customers? I still have a bad taste in my mouth, because of my original experiences with the company’s reps.
Original review:
We signed up with Gabb 4 years ago and have had nothing but problems! The watches conveniently die at the 12 month, one week mark. (They have a 1 year warranty & you have to sign a 2-year service contract)
The first time it happened, I paid for a new watch. The next time I refused to pay for another device. Customer service does nothing to help and is not empathetic at all! They repeatedly ask if you would like to buy another device or pay a cancellation fee to end your service (the same amount you would pay if you don’t terminate it)! You are stuck paying a monthly fee for a service that is useless without a device! Total scam!

The experience was great. I could research online and I didn’t have to go spend hours at a retail store. It came in the mail fast. Kiddo loves it and I love being able to communicate with them.

We have overall been very pleased with our Gabb phone we purchased for my daughter. I will say the data runs out very quickly which doesn’t make her happy. We have had a few technical issues, however the response from the company has been incredible. Someone from support text messaged me right after purchase and checks in. If I have an issue I just text and they are very responsive and able to assist! I would highly recommend this company to families that want accessibility to communication for their child, but aren’t ready to allow them to have access to full phone.

Customer service was great and Alec was very responsive. I will definitely recommend Gabb to other parents.

Our kids love having a phone to text their friends and we love having an internet free phone for our kids to use! We limit technology so the Gabb Phone is a win win for our family.

It's ok, until it stops working. Customer service sucks. Warranty is trash.
The watch was good for communicating with my kid. The GPS tracker was slow to update - this was especially stressful if they were out playing. It also was very susceptible to butt dials, which was also super stressful - like is my kid calling but not able to communicate (kidnapped??? fell in a well???? lol), or just bumped it without knowing. The battery life wasn't great. Then one day it just stopped working. It would not charge. It could not be reset. Customer service was completely unhelpful. I had been previously upsold on the warranty, but was never told that the "deductible" for using the warranty was almost the same as what I had paid for the watch itself. Switching to a watch through my cell phone company - cheaper upfront cost, similar monthly cost, better warranty protection.
The only reason I'm even giving 2 stars is because my kid felt pretty cool having a watch and loved sending me silly voice messages.

I finally had it working. We have been trying to get this working for a few months and a factory reset worked.

I have had all my text questions answered quickly, they helped me trouble shoot, know when to return the item to prime and then how to transfer the new device when it arrived. All quickly, politely, and some of it after 5pm PST. So far I am impressed with the customer support team and look forward to trying out the service for my family.

I was notified immediately that there would be an issue with my device and it not shipping before being activated. The service I received to remedy this matter was quick and very helpful even though the matter could not get fixed for a few more days.

I received quick and helpful responses through text messages from Sierra and previously Anastaisha.
