A variegated evergreen that never fades into the background. Flaming Silver Pieris is the kind of shrub that instantly lifts a planting. Its glossy evergreen foliage is edged in silvery white, giving the plant a clean, bright look even in the quieter corners of the garden. When fresh growth emerges in spring, the new foliage flushes brilliant red to pink-red, creating a dramatic color contrast that keeps this shrub visually interesting long after bloom season begins. Spring flowers add elegance to the foliage display. In early to mid-spring, Flaming Silver Pieris produces graceful clusters of white, bell-shaped flowers that hang beneath the foliage like little lanterns. The blooms bring a refined, classic look to the plant and pair especially well with the rich new growth and variegated leaves. The effect is soft and ornamental rather than loud, which makes it easy to blend into more formal or woodland-inspired designs. Strong four-season interest makes it easy to justify the space. One of the best things about Flaming Silver Pieris is that it works hard in every season. Spring brings the bold red flush and flower clusters; summer settles into bright evergreen variegation; and winter keeps the garden structured and polished as deciduous shrubs have dropped away. Even when it is not in bloom, this shrub still reads as intentional and finished. A natural fit for foundations, borders, and shaded entry gardens. Because it stays compact and dense, Flaming Silver Pieris is especially useful in foundation plantings, shaded borders, woodland gardens, and along walkways where a neat evergreen form matters. It also performs well in large containers when given the acidic soil and steady moisture it prefers. The variegated foliage helps brighten darker areas and plays especially well with azaleas, camellias, ferns, hellebores, and other part-shade companions. Best performance comes from the right siting. Flaming Silver Pieris performs best in part shade with moist, well-drained, acidic soil rich in organic matter. It does not want hot, exposed conditions or soggy ground, and in warmer southern climates, it typically appreciates shelter from harsh afternoon sun. It is widely regarded as deer-resistant, but as with any deer-resistant shrub, browsing pressure can vary by region and season.

We received a healthy plant. Waiting to see new growth. Smaller than expected.

The plant came very well packaged, healthy looking and looking like the picture. It is smaller than I expected this is why only 4 stars for value for money, but on the other hand maybe I will have better luck with a smaller plant - easier to establish in a new place. I purchased 2 Pieris' before from a different seller bigger and looking very healthy but they did not survive the winter in my zone 4 garden. This one was shown as a zone 4 plant so maybe I will have more luck with this type and a smaller plant.

It's too small for what I paid. I contacted customer service. They were indifferent.

When the plants arrived, leaves had brown spots, some leaves were clipped, some branches were brown. They were planted the day after I received them. I hoped that they would improve once they were in the ground but they looked worse. The attached picture shows 3 of the 9 plants.
