Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We're sorry to hear that your recent experience included 2 substitute items.

Unfortunately, sometimes we do encounter unforeseen issues with our suppliers which results in us having to provide substitute items. We choose the substitute item(s) based on suitability for the recipe- i.e. chopped tomatoes were the substitution for tomato passata (sieved tomatoes).

We're sorry if you feel that the substitutions were not suitable for your selected recipes.

In any case, a member of our team will reach out to you to try and help resolve this issue.

With regards to ordering on our website, we do explain that the meals selected should correspond to your delivery date. Our customer support team will always reach out to help you to resolve this if there is an issue.

It is also possible to click 'filter' on the weekly menu and then you can choose to filter vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free meals.

If there are any missing ingredients, these can be reported via the website, and our customer support team will investigate the issue to resolve this for you.

Our recipes are based on government guidance for portion sizes and are typically 25% larger than other recipe boxes- providing more protein, and additional carbohydrates. However, we do understand that appetites vary, so you may wish to try our 'big eat' range of recipes.

We have sent you a find reviewer request in order to help us resolve any outstanding issues which you have with your order.

Hi Nathan,

Thanks for taking the time to post your review. It's disappointing that you found that our pesto pasta was plain and not at all appetising- we do offer a wide range 35+ recipe choices per week for you to be able to try.

Our fresh produce is delivered, packed and shipped to you in a 24 hour period- so this is disappointing to hear. Unfortunately this wasn't raised to our customer support team and therefore we were unable to resolve this to you beforehand.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We're disappointed that you feel that the portions were not to your requirements, but we understand that people have varying appetities. In this case, our portions are more generous than other recipe boxes- and we're often receiving praise for this.

We do use brands in our recipe boxes such as Hellman's, amongst other household names. We provide this as the UK's most affordable recipe box.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review. We’re sorry that you felt the need to leave a 1 star review, but this certainly isn’t reflective of the service that our customers receive.

We’re sorry to hear about the issues which you have mentioned, and we can see that your single missing tortilla wrap was resolved in the form of credit.

Over 70% of our produce is sourced locally and is British. You can enjoy good quality items such as Chicken Breast Fillets rather than diced chicken meat and 10% fat British beef mince. Please bear in mind that we do aim to provide the best quality ingredients for students at the lowest price point in the UK for a recipe box- so we do take a balanced approach to providing good quality ingredients for a fair price.

Whilst your review is disappointing, we’re confident that our high customer return rate means that we deliver a good value service for students across the UK.

The aim of Gastrostudent is to provide a recipe box at an accessible price point, primarily for university students. As the UK's most affordable recipe box, we provide 5 recipes & 5 days of breakfast from £29.50. We hope that we can have a look at the issues which you have raised and put these right.

Thanks for your amazing feedback and for being a Gastrostudent customer- we're really pleased to hear that you've been happy with your recipe box choices.

We're always looking for ways to improve our offering, so we will certainly look into how we can try to maximise the use by date of the fresh fruit. These are currently packed and dispatched on the same day as we receive our delivery- so we may look at alternative fruits with a long shelf life for future options.

We're working hard on a lot of upcoming improvements to our service, and feedback like yours really helps us to improve as a company.

You may have seen that you can now select a specific delivery date when choosing your recipe box, as this was a feature which our customers had requested most.

We're working flat out on new recipes so that we can offer more variety by rotating recipes- we're hoping to have this live for September for you!

We'll be continuing to remove more plastic from our recipe box (bread items are up next!) without compromising on the quality of ingredients- watch this space.
