Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the product quality, noting that appliances often failed prematurely, sometimes within months or a few years of purchase. Customers frequently encountered issues with various products, including dishwashers not cleaning effectively, dryers breaking down, washing machines malfunctioning, and ovens having repeated electronic failures. The customer service was also a significant point of frustration, with many describing it as unhelpful, rude, and difficult to reach. Reviewers reported long wait times, missed appointments, and a general lack of resolution for their problems, especially concerning warranty claims. Some people were dissatisfied with the warranty process, finding it inadequate and difficult to navigate, with some feeling that the company did not stand behind its products. Conversely, a small portion of people felt satisfied with the customer support they received, highlighting quick replies and effective solutions for issues like melting dishwasher wheels, which led them to consider future GE purchases.

Worst Customer Service I have ever experienced

Bought a Cafe refrigerator last year. The most expensive appliance I have ever purchased. It intermittently leaks water on the floor. We have had 6 service calls and the technicians have not been able to determine why it leaks. Many phone calls to GE asking for a replacement since it cannot be fixed. Tomorrow will be the 7th service call. It’s a waste of my time to run in circles and get no where. I will never buy a GE appliances again. Their customer service is totally lacking. Next stop Small Claims court.

Awful customer service

Awful customer service, awful website, all over a water filter that costs $50 - no info about shipment, spoke to a rude and unprofessional agent that stated it's "out for delivery" ... what does that mean, when?

TERRIBLE COMPANY & PRODUCTS!

Cannot get through to speak to anyone to address an appliance issue - our warranty is almost up on our appliance and will likely not be honored due to the fact that we cannot reach ANYONE at GE Canada. The phone numbers are not in service and they do not respond to emails. VERY UNHAPPY with this service. DO NOT recommend! In addition, the appliance we purchased broke and does not work after not even 1 year of use.

DO NOT buy GE products!!!

DO NOT BUY GE PRODUCTS!!!! You won't feel the pain with GE customer service or warranty service until your GE products broke down. My washer (model GFW550SSN4WW) lost power 4 times. First time, called GE to schedule a technician to look at the washer, it took 1 week for the next available technician to come. When the technician came and checked out the washer, he ordered the mainboard for replacement, the RIGHT part took 2 weeks to come. I can't schedule the installation until the part arrived. Once scheduled, the next appointment for installation not earlier than 1 week. That means it took at least 3 weeks for my washer to be fixed and it only worked for couple days and broke again, same issue. That repeatedly happened 3 times. That means, every month, I had to live without washer at the minimum of 3 weeks (in fact, it was more than that). On average, there are 4 weeks per month. Three (3) months repeatedly, I could only use my washer 2-3 days per month for the last 3 months. The rest of the days in the last 3 months, the washer was broken and in the mode of waiting to be fixed. Ironically, the first 3 fixes, they replaced the same thing, mainboard. After each replacement, the machine only worked for 2-3 days.

The 4th incident, the most recent incident, the washer's power suddenly went out while it's running. The clothes & water are still inside and the washer door cannot be opened to get the clothes out. I called the customer relation #, gave them the case #, they sounded like they don't have the detailed information of my machine (wonder what the case # is for, why don't they keep the logs for the past calls/info, and the basic info of the washer?). It was frustrated talking to GE customer relation when I had to tell the story over and over again every time I talked to a different GE employee who answered my calls. I wonder if GE electronic system to log information that they provide for their employees just as unreliable as the washer electronic system, can't be used reliably.

Now, with the most (4th time) and current incident with my washer, they asked me to wait for 9 days until the next available technician to come out to look at my washer (which is currently locked with clothes and water inside, door cannot be opened). I told them even I left the clothes inside the washer like that for 2 days, my clothes can be damaged, and now they asked me to wait for 9 days? The lady then told me that I can take picture of the damage clothes for reimbursement. Can I trust them? How much they think they can reimburse appropriately and reasonably? Will GE produce clothes with GE brand too? The customer relation lady did not bother to look at the history of my case (which I gave her already, also entered when the system asked) until I asked her if she looks at the history of my case, then she asked me to wait for her 10-15 mins. She also confirmed she does not see any information the last technician exchanged with the engineer squad. The 3rd time the parts were replace by GE technician, he replaced ALL the electronic parts of the washer, per his word, he "rebuilt the machine", and that's why he talked to the GE engineer squad about this 3rd replacement as if after this time it still breaks down, nothing else he can do to fix it. I was there when he had a call with the GE engineer squad while he was replacing all the electronic parts. My next wonder is why the customer relation lady who answered my call said she does not see anything about it. **Trust issue is flagging here***

Summary:
-> 3 times mainboard replacement for the washer.
-> Afte each replacement, washer only worked for at max 3 days
-> Each time the machine broke, needed 2 appointments for the problem to get fixed/patched. 1st appointment too 5-7 days for technician to comes out to see the issue. The 2nd appointment can only be made after the replacement parts ordered and arrived to my house. From the day I made 2nd appointment (installation appointment) to the date the technician came, it took at least 1 week. Total, I had to wait for 4 weeks for the washer to be fixed and it only worked for 2-3 days max.

Few things to note if you have to deal with GE customer service:
1) Open the Customer Relation Case #, they are more knowledgeable, professional, and reasonable then just regular customer service people. Call 1-800-386-1215, option 4

2) They will sound like they cannot schedule you sooner than 1 week or 9 days, they might say that's the best they can offer. That's a LIE! Yes they can offer sooner, I guess it's just that they have to pay more for those technician but they don't offer that to you unless they feel like they have to, and depends who you talk to

3) Always ask them if they review your case #, if you don't, they will sound like they don't know anything. Sound like they need to be reminded how to do their job correctly.

NO MORE GE products for me!

We have a GE stove that we paid top…

We have a GE stove that we paid top dollar for six years ago. The front of the stove is literally pealing like a rusty old truck. The rap on the font of the stove(or paint not sure) is pealing and rusted out like a truck that has been driving on salted streets. It is completely rusted around the window of the stove. Never in my life have I seen such lousy workmanship. My advice to you would be stay away from GE all together. The quality is A shame. If this is the kind of product they put out I don’t know how they stay in business.

It only takes a month plus to get your appliances delivered. So many delivery attempts and waiting for nothing. I was promised TODAY when I called last week! 4th attempt today....I wait all day (course I'm on the last drop off) It shows they have arrived and it's been delivered. I call and they say it's been rescheduled. No reason as to why. I could have gone through some other place to have a washer and dryer delivered quicker, but then that means I need to return the dryer which they won't take back without having to pay a fee because its after thr 48hr window for refunds. Where is my washer that I paid for already?! Such a hassle, its unreal!

MABE is not a good choice to service your G.E. Appliance

Called Mabe for service on my G.E. Range. The oven door hinges seemed to have given up. Technician came in, charged for service diagnosis, provided a quote to replace the hinges that was supposed to fix the oven door problem. I accepted and a few days later he returned and replaced the hinges. The oven door would not close properly and heat was escaping from top. Technician said he was only supposed to replace the hinges and he did that. He does not know how to fix the door so that it would close properly. In essence Mabe charged me for a diagnostic service that was not going to fix my problem and then did the replacement which left the oven useless.
Escalated to their consumer relations. They did not refund my money and suggested that I buy a new range of my choice with discount. I picked one and they offered a discount over MSRP which seemed generous at first. Once I started browsing around, I found out you can get the same unit for $10 more and better warranty coverage.
I am stuck with a paid bill, lost time, broken oven door and no venue to escalate further. I contacted them, knowing they would charge more than repair-person at the corner. However, I trusted them to be professional and deliver the service to my satisfaction. It did not happen.
Lesson learned:
DO NOT ORDER SERVICE FROM MABE, DEPSITE THE FACT THAT THEY ARE THE OFFICAL G.E. REPAIR SERVICE PROVIDER.

NEVER BUY FROM GE!!!!!

We purchased a unitized washer and dryer. Never got to use the dryer because within seconds of turning it on it started clanking. Just had a repair technician here who advised it needs a new motor. So we bought a new machine with a defective motor. It’s going to take up to 2 weeks to get a new motor installed. I called head office and spoke to a manager to see if we could get a replacement unit or if they could speed up delivery of the motor. The manager advised there was nothing they could do for us. She was really rude about the entire situation. She had zero customer service skills. Do not buy any GE products unless you’re okay with a defective product and no help from the company. Check out all the negative reviews before you buy. I’m so sorry I didn’t.

Customer support for people who love to push a lot of buttons and wait on hold.

We just received the refrigerator so I cannot yet review it. (Sorry I didn't check here first.)

But customer support is a joke. Their automated call screener essentially says, "Select one of these simple issues, if it's something else then we don't give a damn about you." Sure, you can try saying "representative" but that only takes you back to the beginning. Of course, they make you listen to ads and tell you to use their website in order to help them cut costs, but it pisses me off because I always spend a lot of time online first, before resorting to a call. I got disconnected MANY times and, each time, had to sacrifice a slice of my lifetime to get through their call screener then wait on hold, only to be disconnected again. And when I chose to have them call me back in 16 minutes, it asked me again, and again, then it just hung up, and never called me back. Their human reps might be perfectly good, but I guess I may never know for sure.
---------------------------------------
(Keep in mind, I had already gone over the issue with 3 different people at Lowes.)
Details of the four+ hour phone ordeal:
1. Fight with voice menu. Hold. Got disconnected.
2. Fight/hold, but talked to rep briefly, who disconnected me when putting me on hold.
3. Fight again, then system kept hiccupping when I was trying to tell it to call me back, then it hung up.
4. Fight again, then chose callback.
5. Callback, talked to rep briefly, but when she transferred me to another person, he said he only handles HD calls, not Lowes. He transferred me back to support.
6. Talked to another rep, who wanted me to explain it for the Nth time, but she hung up before I got very far into it. (I was very polite but told her I was frustrated. I guess she didn't like that.)
7. Fight, chose callback.
8. Finally got to talk to a real person (Cheryl, thank you) long enough to deal with the problem. However, he outcome has yet to occur. We'll see... ...Months have passed without results.

Would give a zero

Would give a zero, but can’t. Purchased a brand new washer, dryer and refrigerator in July 20, 2024. Began having problems with dryer about a month later. Scheduled first service call with GE. Tech never showed during the 8 hour window, received a late call at 4:58, 2 two minutes before end of window. 2nd service call appt. Tech unable to fix, had to order part, part to be mailed to house. Never received, nor did anyone from FE call to verify receipt. Tech arrived, third service call, unable to fix, rescheduled fourth appointment. Call center customer service horrible. A total disregard for the consumer and their time. Will never buy another GE product.

Replacement gasket for refrigerator model GSS25GMHJCES

Replacement gasket for model GSS25GMHJCES for Left door gasket part #WR24X20455. Ended up buying 2. I followed all instructions but gasket leaked everywhere. Second gasket did the same thing. Problem: The magnetic strips are poorly magnetized. Very weak. Wasted good money. Very dissatisfied with parts. Had to buy a used one from a used appliance store. I will not recommend or buy another GE refrigerator.

This company is terrible...had a washer dryer combo delivered in Feb 2024.. it arrived not working. Took me over 4 weeks to get it replaced .. the replacement is now putting oil all over our clothes and dealing with the ge customer service is a nightmarr. They finally approved a buy back after 4 weeks of arguing with them and i still don't have a check and we are now 8 weeks more out. They have supposedly mailed the check to the wrong address twice. They totally drop the ball on my claim and are not willing to do anything to make it right .

GE is not a reputable brand anymore

GE is not a reputable brand anymore. I bought a washer because I hate to go to laundry mat and had it a month still being worked on so I called to complain and let them know the machine is junk they need to quit selling them and the customer service lady was so rude like I didn’t have a right to complain. Never said I’m sorry nothing . I also see there’s more complaints I wished I had looked before going with them . I’m paying for a washer and still paying to go to laundry mat and they brush me off like oh well. Never will I buy another GE anything.

Poor GE customer support

My new GE double oven was not working properly. I contacted service and the service technician didn’t show up. We rescheduled and he didn’t apologize for his failure to show. I was expecting a $300 refund under the GE Fit program and submitted an application as well as a receipt for the repairs in replacing the new GE stove with an older GE stove. I received a $50 check. Very unprofessional service.

I just recently bought new construction brand new appliances about a year and seven months ago a few people in this development already have problems with GE from the door experience. My dishwasher is not staying on shutting off. I shut the breakers. I close the door well etc. it is not under warranty no longer, don’t understand how dishwasher brand new could already be malfunction. They want to charge me $114 to come out just for the service call I never have problems with my whirlpool or my other appliances in the past. This is unacceptable 17 months ago. Everything was brand new now I wonder if my other appliances are going to fail that this place with the GE appliances very unhappy.
