Insurance Membership No.

Insurance Membership No.: 3000461RSM15166378-RSM
Insured: Oskar Vorotnikov, 3 years old

We bought Genki insurance to protect our son, Oskar. He has had enlarged lymph nodes for over three months. After exhausting all conservative treatment, doctors recommended a biopsy under general anesthesia. This is a serious procedure, and the hospital required confirmation from the insurance to proceed.

Genki’s customer support repeatedly lied to us. They claimed that their partners (DR-WALTER and MD Medicus) were communicating with the hospital — but I was included in the email thread and I saw with my own eyes that the hospital sent multiple unanswered requests. There were no responses for days, while my child’s health deteriorated.

We were left in limbo just days before the scheduled surgery. Genki support kept replying with empty, robotic messages, refusing to take responsibility, saying “they cannot interfere,” even though I bought the policy from them.

This is not a travel delay or a minor accident — this is a life-threatening health issue involving a child, and Genki’s system failed at every level. They collect money but don’t provide help when you need it most.

Their negligence, bureaucracy, and inhumanity are appalling.

I am now preparing legal action, filing official complaints with regulators, and I will make sure every expat, digital nomad, and traveler knows:

DO NOT TRUST GENKI. DO NOT INSURE YOUR CHILDREN WITH GENKI.

They are not just ineffective — they are dangerous.

Hi Dmitry,

Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re very sorry to hear about the difficult situation your family has faced, and we understand how serious and stressful it must have been — especially when it involves your child’s health.

While Genki is not legally authorized to manage medical cases or access medical data directly, we take situations like this very seriously. Our role is to support our customers, monitor communication with our partners, and advocate for clarity and timely responses when delays or confusion arise. We are here to help ensure that your concerns are heard and followed up on appropriately.

We are already in direct contact with you and are actively discussing the case with our partners to understand what went wrong and where improvements can be made. Your feedback is extremely important, and we remain committed to learning from it and improving the experience for all families in the future.

We hope Oskar is doing better, and we will continue to support you throughout this process.

The Best

Customer service was helpful and timely the one time we needed help, and our claim was refunded properly and timely. The claim was also very easy to file. I would highly recommend this as a good budget option. My wife and I used for a ten month trip around Europe and Asia.

Not worth high cost and zero flexibility...

Have been paying a Genki nomad insurance policy for over a year for my son who's traveling through Asia, and he has a medical issue (first one in a year) which might not require an overnight stay but has also had his passport and cards stolen and when I contacted Genki they said he would have to pay and then claim...no flexibility when I explained issue..money wasted on expensive medical insurance that doesn't cover for emergency treatment..

Hi Diane,

Thank you for sharing your feedback – we’re really sorry to hear about your son’s situation. We absolutely understand how stressful it must be to deal with both a medical issue and a stolen passport/cards while abroad.

To clarify:

For emergencies that require hospitalization, we always offer direct billing, including any planned surgeries or inpatient care.

However, for outpatient visits (like regular doctor consultations, exams, or tests without an overnight stay), direct payment by the patient and reimbursement is the standard approach. This isn’t unique to Genki – it’s common for all global travel health insurance providers.

We know that having direct billing for outpatient cases would be more convenient – not just for you, but also from an operational standpoint. However, this involves challenges that take time to solve. We're actively looking into ways to improve this process in the future.

If you need help with the reimbursement process or any additional support, we’re here for you anytime.

I had Genki Explorer insurance from…

I had Genki Explorer insurance from April 26th, 2023 to April 26th, 2025. Now I have Genki Traveler (they closed the Explorer plan, so I had to change) from April 26th, 2025, to April 26th, 2026. So I have been continuously covered for the third year in a row.
On April 30th, 2025 and May 21st, 2025, I visited a doctor and was treated for shoulder tendinitis.
Today, my reimbursement claim was denied because the shoulder pain started three months ago, and therefore, it is considered a pre-existing condition not covered by the insurance. Also, Genki declined the claim via old insurance (because I visited the doctor during the new insurance period).

It is a very comfortable position for them to get your money and not provide reimbursements. Be careful.

We decided to stop using Genki for family after this case. As soon as my paid month ends, I will cancel these cheaters.

Hi Stanislav,

Thanks so much for taking the time to share your experience—and for being with Genki over the past few years. We’re really sorry to hear about your frustration with the recent claim and want to give you some clarity around how this was assessed.

Both Genki Explorer and Genki Traveler are temporary travel health plans designed medium-term use. Each one is a separate contract with its own insurer and terms. Because of that, coverage does not carry over from one plan to the next, even if there’s no break in between.

Like most travel health insurances, Genki Traveler does not cover pre-existing conditions. This includes any condition where symptoms were present, or treatment or medical advice was received, during the 12 months before the start of the plan. Since the shoulder pain began before your Genki Traveler coverage started, the claim was assessed based on that condition being pre-existing under the terms of the new contract.

For anyone needing long-term coverage, we recommend Genki Native. It’s built for continuous, stable protection and can cover chronic conditions without a contract limit—something that travel insurance simply isn’t designed for.

We really appreciate your time with Genki and your honest feedback. If you ever want to explore better-suited coverage or have any questions, we’re here to help.

We luckily did not need to use the insurance but we found the customer service really helpful and prompt. The whole booking and cancelling service was very user friendly. I would defiantly use them again for future trips.

The best insurance experience I've ever…

The best insurance experience I've ever had
Genki has been such a great experience from day 1. The easiest signup process, which is very concise, clean, and in a friendly tone.
Afterwards, the support and help I received from them + ´reminders of renewal of their insurance always helped me keep myself on top of how I was covered while travelling around in Asia while freediving and driving plenty of scooters.

The highest recommendation is that you consider travel insurance.

Hi Kate,

We’re sorry to hear you were unhappy with your experience and really appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback.

To clarify, Genki Explorer offers comprehensive travel health insurance that covers both outpatient and inpatient treatments for new illnesses and accidents that occur after your coverage begins — not only emergencies, but also milder health issues like infections, fevers, and more. There are no changes made to your coverage during an active contract, and all benefits are clearly outlined in your policy documents from the start.

We’d love to understand more about what didn’t meet your expectations. If you experienced any issue — with a claim, coverage, or communication — please don’t hesitate to reach out. Our support team is always here to help and can provide step-by-step guidance.

Hi Sonja,

We're sorry to hear that your recent experience hasn’t met your expectations.

With Genki Explorer, once a claim is approved by our partner's claims team, reimbursements are typically issued promptly. In many cases, this can be immediate—especially when using faster payout methods like Revolut or Wise. However, for international bank transfers, the timing may vary depending on the destination country and the receiving bank’s processing times, which can cause delays outside of our partner’s control.

Regarding our support: Genki acts as the insurance agent and does not handle claim payouts directly. However, when a customer reports a delay, our team is always available to escalate the case to the responsible department, request updates, and help move things along.

If you're still waiting on a payment or need assistance, please feel free to reach out—we’re here to support you.

Not recommend Genki

We bought insurance for the whole family for a trip to Thailand.
After 10 days, I fell into the pool and broke my head. They put 7 stitches and gave me a tetanus shot. The stitches were removed in 7 days. All this cost 10,000 baht. It turned out that this was not an insurance case... A person broke his head and lost blood, which was stitched up...
A little later, my daughter got sick, and we went to the hospital. She was examined and prescribed medication. The Congress Genki responded to their obligations and promised to compensate for the costs.
No money for 3 weeks. We asked when they would return the money, their answer: "Problems with payments!"
Genki do not fulfill their obligations to clients!
I do not recommend

Hi Alex,

Thank you for your feedback, and we’re sorry to hear that your experience hasn’t met expectations.

To clarify: Genki Explorer covers medically necessary treatment for new, unexpected illnesses or injuries during travel. All claims are reviewed and processed by our dedicated claims partner, who makes decisions based on the medical documentation provided and in strict alignment with the Insurance Conditions.

In your case, it’s possible that one of the treatments was not approved due to how it was assessed medically, how it was documented, or because it didn’t meet the coverage criteria outlined in the policy terms. That said, we’re here to help if anything needs to be rechecked.

If reimbursement was confirmed for your daughter’s treatment but you haven’t received the payment yet, please contact us directly at help@genki.world and we’ll gladly follow up with the claims team on your behalf.

We’re committed to supporting you through the process and making sure you get a clear and fair resolution.

Feels more like a Startup experiment than a real insurer

Disappointed by the lack of clarity and slow communication. I came to Genki hoping for a smooth, professional onboarding experience, but the process felt unstructured and frustrating from start to finish. Proper responses were slow leaving me with more questions than answers. I had to push repeatedly just to get basic clarity on eligibility and exclusions.

The most frustrating part was how repetitive the back-and-forth became. Instead of helping me navigate the process efficiently, it felt like I was being passed around or given partial answers. For something as important as health insurance, especially for digital nomads or freelancers, I expected a lot more professionalism and competence.

Ultimately, I decided to go with a more solid provider who handled my case with transparency, speed, and respect. Disappointed with Genki and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who needs quick, informed guidance for a serious insurance decision.

Hi Yassine,

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback.

We understand that choosing an international health insurance plan is an important decision, and we always aim to provide clear and timely support throughout the process.

Genki Native is a long-term private health insurance, which requires a detailed medical questionnaire to ensure the insurer can fairly assess eligibility. In some cases, especially when clarifications are needed after the application is submitted, extra steps are necessary to ensure everything is properly evaluated. This can extend the process slightly, but it’s essential to maintain transparency and provide the right solution based on the insurer’s acceptance criteria.

We appreciate your engagement during the process, and while we understand that the experience didn’t fully meet your expectations, we do hope it’s clear that our team worked to assist at every stage, including offering a new application route after withdrawal.

Your feedback is valuable and will help us continue improving how we support customers navigating complex insurance decisions. If there’s anything else we can clarify, feel free to reach out directly.
