Refused to refund it

I purchased 4 items and returned 3. I followed the instructions - tick the boxes, include in the package, stick the return label on, take it to store. I went to a store and had to queue in 2 different queues and then they sent me to a machine. The machine didn't read the barcode so I had to enter a code manually. Then over a week later I got an email saying that "Due to future changes, we cannot see the returned items", so I needed to tell them what I returned. I stated that I couldn't remember the items but have ticked it on the packing slip and followed all instructions so they should know. Another week later I phoned and was told I couldn't get a refund unless I had my return receipt (even though at this point they had already emailed me saying that DSV/ Brand In received the parcel but couldn't tell GeorgeAsda what was in it). So now I'm £75 out of pocket.

Terrible process and lost my money it looks like. Plus queued for ages to return it to a person, but had to deal with a machine and a logistics process which is clearly not fit for purpose

Terrible experience!

Terrible experience!

Got a lift to pick up my online George order.

Have order two items of the same thing and have only opened one tonight to find it is damaged in multi places !!

I have been told I now need to return item which is furniture when I have no car and there is no public transport near me !! Sent them all the pictures as proof and they aren’t interested!

I asked for my complaint to be escalated and I was told there is no details they can give me for escalation !

Item not fit for purpose, waste money ! Zero quality control !! Once they have your money they aren’t interested!

So looks like the Ombudsman!

George at Asda please improve your service.

My Asda George store is miles away from me and I don't drive. It works out cheaper for me having it delivered than paying numerous bus fares and changing buses to get to the store. I have ordered online on numerous occasions over the years and I like shopping online with your company, But you seriously need to look a bit closer at the way you treat your customers, and improve everything from your customer service, items customers receive, or parts missing, or damaged or broken. Customers pay for their items and expect to receive what they pay for. There is always room for improvement to get to the highest standards of customer care, and you are no way near. If you read these complaints please take note. We keep you in business by either going to your store to buy, or ordering online. It is becoming beyond the joke now. Re-train your customer service team, ditch the couriers Evri & Yodel unless they can care enough to show some sort of change and guarantee that they can run a proper delivery service with proper couriers. My parcel has gone astray again at another address, but where? How many times? I know you offered me a £10 discount which I used to go back on your site and place an order to get the reduction, but what was the point if the courier has left my parcel at another address again, for someone else to have at my expense.

Was given a £10 gift card as an apology for in-store treatment from staff member. Initially left positive review, but on closer inspection if the item that I bought ( hadn't needed to use until now ) one of the three piece kitchenware storage boxes I purchased, has a clasp missing!
Fantastic! I even paid a little extra to have the item delivered instead of having to go back to the store. Just my luck! Rude staff and damaged item!
The quick delivery doesn't make up for it, sorry. Asda sucks!!

Terrible delivery service this is the second time my parcel has not been delivered to asda click and collect from george website! Then keep being told they need a status from yodel to say parcel lost before they can process a refund its been 3 days past my delivery date. This has totally put me off ever ordering from george asda again. I won't be using them in future! Reading on here as well all the reviews are bad. Asda george need to listen to customers and change there delivery courier.

I've had nothing but problems with George. Orders not arriving. Missing items and now an order I received had a missing bath mat. That they supposedly sent out separately tracking kept saying evri is expecting it. Still hasn't arrived so I rang George to be told evri hasn't collected it and their resend it out. She puts me on hold then comes back and says I've issued your refund. I said what do you mean. You said you would send it back out. She said I can't due to it being below 5 pounds. What a bloody joke
You should resend it no matter what. Now I have towels and no bath mat. And I shouldn't have to pay another delivery charge to order one. I'm not shopping online anymore. Disgraceful customer service

I think George at Asda need to retrain…

I think George at Asda need to retrain their telephone customer service team on how to be professional when dealing with customer complaints. It was likely that the call was handled by a call centre abroad, the woman I spoke to on 27/12/25 at 9.20am UK time about order number 158983340 was patronising and condescending saying i was obviously misunderstanding the tracking. This was after awful Yodel had sent me a message saying the driver had attempted at 8.30am which he had not. She said they would still be delivering that day. Of course they didn't deliver that day. I subsequently spoke to a much more helpful member of staff via Facebook team who seems to have been adequately trained in a professional manner. I received a refund of delivery charge and they confirmed they could refund me completely if the order didnt arrive by the end of the day. In the end the product arrived on 29/12/25.

All fine until you want to return… …

I have tried to return an online order twice with George and have had issues both times - I’ve had to call multiple times and haven’t received help. For the second return, they said I had to email proof of postage over (which I thankfully had) before the refund is processed, as they hadn’t received notification that it had arrived (they have had it now for 3 weeks). Nowhere does it say this on George’s instructions and no other company does this. I won’t be buying online from them again, which is a shame as I like their clothing.

No Delivery, No Info, No Ownership

We ordered a microwave from George at Asda for home delivery on 7th January (order number: 159433068). On the morning it was due to arrive, we received a vague notification saying there was a delay:

“Sorry, there’s a delay with your George order 159433068. We are working hard to get it to you, but it may not arrive when we said it would.”

Since then, there have been no further updates at all.

The Yodel tracking simply states “We’re expecting your parcel from your sender”, which clearly indicates that the item has not even been handed over to the courier.

I contacted George customer services to try and get some clarity, but the response was completely unhelpful. I was repeatedly told that Yodel had not received the parcel — something I was already fully aware of. When I asked why Yodel hadn’t received it, or where the microwave actually was, I wasn’t given a meaningful answer or any reassurance.

At no point was a revised delivery date offered, nor was there any proactive communication. Delays can happen, but poor communication and lack of ownership make the situation far worse.

I contacted customer service regarding…

I contacted customer service regarding a returned order. I had returned the order to the Asda store a week ago, but I have not received the refund or any confirmation. When I called and explained the situation, the representative told me that I needed to send the return receipt, which I have done. I was very shocked and emotionally distressed by the service I received today.

Excellent.

Received a pack of 3 storage boxes. Unfortunately one of them had broken in transit. I contacted through Facebook to resolve this as I wanted to keep the 2 that weren’t damaged. I was fully refunded plus delivery charge and was sent a £5 E-voucher too! All sorted in no time at all. I’ve seen a lot of bad reviews on here but can only comment on my experience which was great! Thankyou to Karan who helped me resolve this on Facebook.

Charged for out-of-stock items and impossible to get a response

I am extremely disappointed with the service I’ve received from Asda George.

I placed an online order (Order No: 159636811) and the money was taken, with an order confirmation received. I was then informed that the main item was out of stock, yet only a partial refund was issued and the £3.95 postage was not refunded, despite the order being a complete bedroom set.

I contacted customer services immediately to cancel the entire order. Since then, I have:
• Made multiple phone calls
• Been promised manager call-backs within 24–48 hours (which never happened)
• Been given an email address by customer service that does not work
• Emailed several other addresses found online with no response
• Phoned again after emailing — still no replies and no call back

This is not the level of service I expect from a company like Asda. The lack of communication and failure to resolve a straightforward refund is unacceptable. I am still waiting for a full refund, including postage.

Very poor customer service.

They don’t seem to be aware of their legal obligation to deliver an item TO someone who has ordered & paid for it online. If you will choose to use Evri & be ok with them leaving parcels outside people’s homes, then get used to issuing refunds or replacements. Absolutely shocking experience with customer services so far who keep sending me a picture of my order sat outside my door… in a communal space, where it was taken from!!! Unbelievable… I’d rather not have to do a chargeback but it doesn’t look like I’m going to get anywhere otherwise! Thanks for nothing, will never use you guys again!

Just a bit Rubbish....

Having ordered items which arrived smashed to bits, I find there is no way to contact them about this apart from Twitter or telephoning, both of which I cannot do. Absolute rubbish customer service as far as I'm concerned and won't be shopping with them again

WARNING - Customers are punished for receiving broken item even after they request and receive photo proof

I have just received £60 worth of damaged/smashed (heavy duty) storage boxes and they will not refund me until they have been returned. I can’t get them to the post office (to large/heavy) so they have arranged a collection but it means I have to be home all day.

It makes me so angry that these huge organisations would rather pay for a courier to collect smashed plastic and I have to wait 3/5 working days to get my money back. Come and collect them if you like but start the refund process now so I’m not out of pocket and at least and give me a time slot.

The call centre said all managers were in a meeting. Ironically when I called back they were all in a meeting again. I’ve worked in corporate for many years and I’ve never heard of a customer service team leader be in that many meetings.

I have put in a request for the call recordings as I’m pretty confident that lies were flowing and ironically as I “accidentally” got cut off the second person I spoke to provided different information.

It’s saddening to get this response. They have access to my file and can clearly see over the years I’ve spent thousands at Asda and have only ever returned a few items, yet they have no customer loyalty.

Absolutely livid

Absolutely livid, paid for next day delivery, for a birthday gift £5.50 only for your useless courier yodel to not deliver it, I won't be using george again and after returning item, because I now have to go and get a gift in morning, as yodel if they can be bothered to deliver item, would be until the evening anyway, and that's to late for me, I will be closing geirfe account

I ordered a toaster and kettle set

I ordered a toaster and kettle set. Collection from saltwells Netherton. Didn't receive a text to say ready for collection. On the off chance I went and was told one of the items had gone missing.
From the 23rd of December I have been asking for a 14.99 refund.
They are appalling.
I'm still waiting for this refund as of today.
It's quite simple. If I don't get refund I will be going to small claims.
I will call again today
It's like a joke shop. No wonder they are struggling and deservedly so

Asda/George Online Refunds...

Asda/George Online Refunds...

I strongly advise people to register a story with 'Watchdog' if you're having the same issues as below.

It's come to light that George owe me a significant amount of money. I've tried numerous times to sort things out but nothing gets resolved. It's causing me a great deal of stress.

I had problems last year with George not refunding me correctly or at all. I put in down to a flaw in their system and all seemed to be rectified, until...

I've placed numerous orders for clothes over the past 5 ish months. Clothes for me and other family members. Recently i've noticed refund discrepancies everywhere.

I returned the clothes back via my local George shop. The problems i've noticed are - missed refunds, part refunds (for example, if i returned 7 items they've refunded me for 5 instead of 7)
They've also refunded me for incorrect items, which gave a lower refund total to what i should've got.

All their call centres are a joke. I'm guessing they've got 3 overseas call centres.
The odd adviser has been good but the rest should not be in a CS position!
They're very rude, they don't listen, they don't know what they're doing or simply can't be bothered. My experience with them has been very stressful. There's often a language barrier too.

I've given up trying to complain via their call centre, and promised call backs from a Manager never happen so,
I've been intouch with CAB. They'll forward the issue onto Trading Standards. I've also contacted Watchdog.

It seems their refund system isn't fit for purpose, including breaking their refund policy.
It makes me wonder if all's deliberate in the hope it goes unnoticed by the customer. Who knows?

They've also sent no end of orders where the items are completely missing or not the full quantity - getting a refund for this is made difficult.

If others are having the same problems, please report your issues to Watchdog and Trading Standards. It's power in numbers that will bring this to light.
