Many note that the equipment works well initially and installation can sometimes be a smooth process. Some reviewers were happy with the helpful support they received after finally connecting with specific representatives. I write about Givenergy software LTD…

I write about Givenergy software LTD who have split from Givenergy who are now in administration.

Not having a choice as my system was free on a government grant , I was stuck with this. The software from the start was clunky and seemed to be totally illogical. Why would my battery be feeding the grid on the one had and the grid be feeding me back at the same time? Grid price 20p a unit generated 12p …..the excuse the inverter hadnt caught up is improbable.
In the last month it has made more sense than it ever has…now suddenly the new software wont download.

I can see why the parent company ended up as it did, Companys House lists not a lot of difference with ownership for Givenergy SoftwareLTD ….

For Givenergy customers the greendream is just a recurring nightmare.

Do not buy from this company

Do not buy from this company. They are in administration and are making existing customers pay £4.99 a month to access the information from their GivEnergy cloud systems which was supposed to be free for ever. The version where you don’t pay is absolutely useless.

Givenergy went into administration in…

Givenergy went into administration in April 2026 which would explain the increasing numbers of frustrated customers trying to access support in the pre-ceeding months.
From what I've read, it's unlikely that our warranties will be honoured.

App no working

“They updated the app. Now you can hardly see anything unless you pay £4.99 per month. On top of that, the app only works when connected to Wi-Fi. It doesn’t work with mobile data. The point is the same as everywhere else — just pay them money for nothing. As if it’s not enough that they already steal quite a lot of energy from people’s solar panels.”

I’m not going to waste much time on this as Sean and plenty of others have already said what I would write (thanks for saving me time, Sean). Anyhow, I’ve had my battery four years (panels twelve years) and now I’m feeling screwed and I’m absolutely not paying for something that was once free - fortunately everything, other than the app, remain working.

Forced to pay a subscription to access my own equipment

I only found out this morning when I tried to use my app that I now needed a subscription, apparently you can use the app on your local network, but since the company changed everything I am unable to find the Inverter.

I am thoroughly disgusted at what they've done here making me pay to use my own equipment a few days ago. It was free to use and I could see and control my battery usage now I am unable to unless I pay for a subscription. I have tried all day to get my inverter to show on my app and it will not find it. I've been forced to have to purchase the subscription and love behold everything appears.

After further digging, I can see that the company is going to administration and we won't even get our IT on those devices.

I never received a survey asking if I wanted to pay money for a subscription service. I've noticed that some people on here said that they did. I've gone through all my emails and I haven't had one from GivEnergy,

Myself and everyone on here are absolutely screwed if their devices now fail.

This is what I got on my Google search

GivEnergy Ltd officially entered administration on April 9, 2026, and ceased trading. Appointed administrators (CB Business Recovery) have made all staff redundant. As a result, the company will no longer honor hardware warranties or provide ongoing technical and software support. If you own a GivEnergy system, several practical realities apply:Day-to-day operation: Your battery and inverter will continue to charge, discharge, and power your home as normal. Battery systems function locally, so day-to-day utility is not affected.Cloud and portal access: There is uncertainty regarding long-term software support, firmware updates, and the ongoing viability of the cloud monitoring platform.Warranties: GivEnergy Ltd can no longer fulfill hardware warranties. If your system develops a fault, you must contact your original installer.Support: Direct technical support from GivEnergy has stopped. For issues, repairs, or troubleshooting, revert directly to your solar/battery installer

This is from the BBC website, I would post the link but not allowed.

An energy storage systems business has collapsed into administration, resulting in the loss of 35 jobs.

GivEnergy Ltd, based in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire, ceased trading with immediate effect on 9 April and all of its employees were made redundant, administrator CB Business Recovery said.

The firm, part of a wider trading group, was a major supplier of inverters, batteries and electric vehicle chargers.

Chris Brooksbank, of CB Business Recovery, said no further goods or services would be provided by the company.

He said GivEnergy would also not be able to honour hardware warranties as well as ongoing user and software support.

Brooksbank advised all consumers to contact their installer for initial support.

GivEnergy introduce subscription fees to control your own system

GivEnergy now require inverter owners to have premium accounts to access their own data held in the cloud. The free local accounts on mobile phones and tablets are now downgraded to show only minimal local information, which is not adequate to manage inverters properly.

Given that the hardware side of the company has already gone into receivership, it gives little confidence in future viability of software support even if paying subscription fees.

It is felt that data would be much safer if held locally under the control of users, and I am looking for alternative solutions to support this.

No luck so far, Not Happy.

Give energy

Give energy. I must say you don't even deserve one star. The company is a shambles you're trying to rip customer off by charging them for subscription which they should rightly have access to. You are a disgrace as a company and all the directors you should be ashamed of yourself. You have no integrity shame on you, shame on you

Would give them a negative if I could

Would give them a negative if I could. They threatened a change in service unless you paid a subscription but they did say there would be a basic local version - this is non-functional and you can not get in touch with them. So what now! Left with no control over my solar panels

A bunch of thieves

A bunch of thieves, you spend over £6000 on the system to try and save
Money on your energy bills and then after four years the crooks at GiveEnergy implement a “premium” service! i.e. they charge you £50 a year to access the useful feature that were free the day before, knowing full well that you have no option to pay the fee and keep the services. Fair offer that fee to new customers who have the option not to purchase their crooked product and services. This is a terrible action of a disingenuous company! I am disgusted by their response and hope they have a change of mind.

Subscription only to see data - very poor

Really poor that they show you all the good stuff in the app and then a week later turn it all off and say you have to pay £5.00 per month for it.

We have already spent £1000's instaling your equipment, the least you could do is allow us to see the data from it.

Very very poor - if able to do again would go somwhere else.

I brought a 3 phase commercial system…

I brought a 3 phase commercial system with givenergy invertor and batteries. No mention that there would be any extra charges to be able to see my own data from my own system. I'm not paying any extra for your app or to be able to use it online. I can't even check yesterday's export or import now. I was looking at more batteries but don't think I'll be giving givenergy anymore of my money.
Looking at Google reviews, which givenergy has turned off because they are all negative, looks like they are not honouring there warranty.
If I need to claim on my commercial warranty and they don't honour it in a timely manner I won't hesitate in taking them to court.
To Givenergy, I don't give my consent for any of my historical data to be accessed or used by Givenergy or passed to any third party.
I own my system and also own the data it has produced but with there new pay to use I can't access my historical data to check my system from year to year. This wasn't mentioned at time of purchase and wasn't on any of there literature.
I won't be recommending Givenergy to any more people, and will make sure anyone looking for a solar system will know about my experience

Stay away

Stay away!
Symptoms of a poorly ran, poorly managed company
Imagine this. I write this review at 11:59am on 26 May 2026, shortly after I went to check the givenergy app as I normally do before I turn on some appliances. I get an error to say "subscription required"
I then go to check my email, and at 11.04 I had an email from Givenergy to say @oday we are launching our new GivEnergy Premium Tier, which we wrote to you about last month" the last month they refer to is an email they sent to say they will start charging in May. No date given, no prior message to remind us.
Oh and by the way, they recently did a survey about the subscriptions, which in their words 59% of their customers said they'd be disappointed if it were introduced, and they ignored them.

That is all unbelievable and signs of a company that is in big big trouble. Stay tf away from these lot.

Customer services is atrocious would give zero stars if I could. Sent 3 emails and no response so have sent another one as follows: I have been waiting for more than a month for a response. No wonder your company is struggling cost wise when you can't even bother to respond to customers. All I want is to reinstate the app so I can find out what my battery percentage is and what the house is using solar wise. How difficult is it to respond? Clearly very difficult for you.  I am deeply disappointed with your services and if you think I would pay for it in the future think again.

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service, you can report something an they just ignore you. the app is terrible, for example, it will say you are sending energy to the mains and the battery, but the battery amount is hardly anything. it will show energy running from the battery to the mains, when it shouldnt. they have gone bankrupt as a company.. i wouldn't buy another system from them.

Have a faulty battery

Have a faulty battery, agreed to send us out a replacement and it has never arrived. Obviously hasn't helped they have gone into administration! Can't get hold of anyone and the wholesaler who originally sold the installer the battery is refusing to help even though we have emails etc from Givenergy to say we can have a new battery.
