I definitely DO NOT recommend this…

I definitely DO NOT recommend this site.
They charge you an additional fee a few days later even though you paid during check out saying it's because they have to weigh the item and then calculate the final shipping. Total B.S. They most likely already know how much the item weighs but refrains from adding the real total cost because the high cost would make international buyer turn their heads. Total scam if you ask me.

I ordered a small chair and paid everything. Then a few days later they ask for another shipping that's nearly the same price as the shipping I paid during check out. It's over $100 for a freaking chair that's plastic!

They should know how much it costs since I placed my address when paying.

I do not recommend and they won't refund you the full amount because the item is in the warehouse. Pretty sure they can just ship it to another customer who orders the same purchase.

You will be SCAMMED by this site. Ew.

Domestic delivery to Gwangju

I ordered 2 Vogue magazines, more than 15.000 won in total. Waiting 1 week like an idiot. After that, I saw my status is Completed, but they didn't send anything to me.

I try to email and contact Gmarket but all of my actions were ignored. I lost my money. I wanna order my magazines again on Coupang, but they were sold out on Coupang. Poor me :'(

In my opinion, Coupang is better than Gmarket if you live in Korea.

I Lost $20USD because of Auto refund; with Evidence.

This company should sort there payment system out. I purchased a laptop for my parents in Korea. My payment was canceled within 24hours, They did not explain the situation.

5 days later I finally get a response. Message quote: "Please be advised that purchasing restriction could happen to any foreign customers randomly who use foreign credit card/PayPal as payment method due to the increased risk of illegal use of foreign card".

I ended up losing $20 USD when the refund occurred due to the exchange rate.

This company is a joke. They even promote that they accept foreign cards. Website Quote: " Foreign Credit Card (Issued out of Korea)
We accept all major credit cards (VISA, Master, Union Pay and others)issued by international credit card companies. "

Irresponsible and lacks…

Irresponsible and lacks professionalism.

Do not use. They should have just kept their business in Korea. They clearly do not have a clear system to do international transactions and resolve disputes.

Received the wrong item, no clear guidance of what is required. What is covered, and how Gmarket ensures that a complete refund is completed.

Missing package, clumsy potentially racist blocking policy

So 2 things about Gmarket, 1 that I have not seen with other shopping sites. I do love the wide selection.
1: is missing packing due to lack of Address put on by Gmarket. (And no Way to call me either)
I had an urgent package not arrive within delivery time frame, whats worse it never arrived, but on the tracking it said that I personally had received it! Contacting Gmarket was absolutely not helpful. But thank god the tracking mentioned the delivery guys contact who I promptly messaged where My package was, he then called me to re-delivered and told me that G-market had not provided the full Address on te package So his problem was he didn’t know where to deliver too. Still doesn’t answer why gmarket status said thank you for receiving. But at least I have My package now. 2 other packages went ok.

2: this is My opinion at least annoying and clumsy, at worst racist policy of randomly blocking customers even ones that have shopped with you before, just because : they are foreign and use a foreign credit card. As they deem it not safe enough. Strangely no other website seems to think so. Don’t see how randomly blocking a person from buying without letting them unblock it for 2 days is Good policy or even fair. Normally security measures can be solved on the spot. Still in the process of unblocking it. And then in the email before I even reply saying thank you for understand and cooperation. No I don’t actually.
And this product I urgently needed, health suffering until I can order it and then it arrives.

No Responsibility for Transactions

I ordered an item on November 25th. The item never arrived, and tracking showed "Absence of Addressee."

I opened an inquiry with Gmarket, and they told me to call my local EMS office (the company they use for international shipping to the US). I did so, and they told me that the package was not delivered, because Gmarket did not place a full address on the package, only a zipcode.

I opened a second inquiry with Gmarket, informing them of what EMS told me. Gmarket stated that the issue was still with EMS, and there was nothing they could do.

I asked if they could reach out to EMS, and they told me no.

I asked if they could reship the item with an actual address on it, and they told me no.

It is now 40 days later. I don't have the package, Gmarket won't help me, and EMS won't help me. At this stage, it's literally theft, as they have my money and I have no product. In some places this business practice would be illegal.

Domestic order to Seoul

Domestic order to Seoul, South Korea.

Item that did showed up: was incorrect. Paid an additional 5,000won which equals roughly 5USD to send back the item for an exchange. Once it was sent back, the correct item was sold out. However, I was obligated to pay for the delivery charge.

Items ordered that never showed up: It stated that the delivery person tried to contact me multiple times. No phone records. I never received any calls or SMS. Then it was stated that my address was entered incorrectly thus the delay and charge of 5,000won for each order was on me.

However I did receive the first package to my house with the SAME address and with a pickup for the exchange that never arrived.

In total I'm still waiting for a full refund (Order date was Nov 5. Today is Dec 14) with 15,000won in delivery charges of items, that I still don't have.

The Customer Service (Named: Hyeon UiSun) online via inquires continues to copy and paste their answers without reading my inquiry. The Customer Service states that they are contacting the seller but with no resolve. So far, no actions have been taken except to close my case, they label, "Completed".

The only conclusion is that this Company GMARKET, takes no responsibility for their Customers nor Sellers. If the seller claims that the Delivery Person has tried contacting the Customers, they should produce evidence.
Otherwise it's a scam to collect 5,000won delivery charge, with no need to prove that the service actually occurred.

A totally unnecessary and stressful experience. I will be taking action by contacting Consumer Protection Services here in S Korea. Should you have a Domestic Case, you may also call or visit the Korean website.

Recommended by a friend to use this …

Recommended by a friend to use this shopping website. Found it great since they had various products and purchased goods worth over $300+.

However, when the $300+ goods came, NONE of them came with aany of the free gifts or products as mentioned on the website. Sent an inquiry straight away, live chats, requested for a number for me to contact the company directly but got negatives all the time. This happened multiple times with emails going back and forth, without really understanding what my inquiry was even though i've stated it in the most simple english.

Live chat customer service was even more horrible, Hyun Ji Kim. Provided him my customer service number, order number, inquiry number and yet he wanted me to proof evidence to him stating that free gifts were included.
Should i be screen shotting every single website i'm shopping at where it says what should be given?

I actually recommended the website to many of my friends and staff as the goods arrived quickly but their customer service is seriously horrible and ridiculous. If you're looking for a problem to get solved, you'd only be tossed around like a volleyball.

It's a scam website for the Uk buyers

It's a scam website for the Uk buyers. I bought something costing £35 then they charged me £25 for the delivery and later they charge me £28 for the import duty fare. and even then I did not the product. They said it went back to them. I asked to refund the money and they said they cannot return the whole money they can only return £25. I waited for month and the money was not refunded to me. On my enquiry I was said that they have put a coupon on my gmarket login account. after 2 months I see no sign of money neither in my card or in coupon. This is a complete scam

Gmarket is crap

Gmarket is crap. The prices are nearly always over inflated, twice that of other online retailers. 11st is better, but still you are likely better to order things from outside Korea. Ie Amazon.

Horrible! Big Liar Company!!

I have ordered three items from G-Market on April but I just received two items so customer service promised that the one of the item will be cancelled and refund it soon but I did not receive money back yet on June, it has already delayed 2 months. Every time they were saying all those excuse. I decided to open a case on PayPal and I was told that the refund is ready but they could not process because I opened the case on PayPal. They said that whenever I close the case on PayPal, the refund will be proceeded. So I closed the case, however, they do not care about this again. Actually, I did big mistake, I should not close the case on PayPal. This is not the money matter any more to me, but this is the matter of their service!!!! WORST EVER!!!

Some items are not as good as shown in …

Some items are not as good as shown in the picture. The key thing is to choose the right seller and this is not easy when you are overwhelmed by thousands of them.
The price is acceptable even plus shipping costs during deep discount events. I have ordered 3 times from Gmarket and are not happy with them. Some items are good but the others are low quality=> average price is pricey. I do not intend to order again if there are not deep, greatly deep discount.

GMarket is a SCAM

The customer service almost NEVER answer questions although they heard it loud and clear. Their tactic is to beat round the bush when mistakes happens and after a few more irrelevant replies they close the case. Subsequently if you try to reopen an issue, it will go entirely UNANSWERED. Refunds are not given back. This company is DISGUSTING!

DISHONEST SELLERS. BE CAREFUL !

Be careful when you deal sellers on this site. Very Dishonest and Unprofessional. The first time we make orders from 2 stores. The first store has no problem. They send us exactly what we order. The second store send us only 2 items ( out of 9 items we order). What horrible experience. Imagine you were in the same situation. They refund when we complain though, but we really want those items resend to us instead.

The second time we order, a store only send us 1 item (out of 5 items we order). We file a complain but still no response. The other store send us defective stuffs and wrong items.

The shipping is a nightmare. Most sellers on Gmarket set a very unrealistic estimated weight for their merchandise. So you have to pay alot for shipping. But they will only charge for the real weight, so the Gmarket central shipping center will refund the extra shipping fee ( as STORE CREDIT ONLY). You have to use that fund to buy something on Gmarket. With the unrealistic shipping fee, you'll be kept in the circles. The refund does NOT go back to your original form of payment.

We email Gmarket but they say they cannot change the estimated shipping fee because the sellers are unwilling to change.

A Liar of a big company

I made a wire transfer payment to gmarket account, but i added a few more to the amount as to I'm not so sure of the exact amount at the time being.
The transaction is successful, so i received a decrease amount of money on my bank and a receipt of the transaction.
I got home, check on my order, and surprisingly the order is not yet processed, so i made a complain right, I even go 1:1 live chat service.
They ask me for a receipt of the transaction as proof of my story, so I gave them
First the agent told me that the receipt was my withdrawal receipt, and i said to them how come my withdrawal receipt has gmarket acc number on it, and the agent ask to see the pic again, so I send it again
And this time he said its because i didn't transfer the exact amount required for the order so the money is stuck on cyber bank

Now you know that this is a total B.S crap because a transaction success means the receiver receives the money
The only reasonable explanation here is that gmarket has my transferred money on their account but they refuse to refund it and taking advantage about the 1 thing I did wrong (adding a few more to the amount) and use that to reason against me

I will never shop here again, this company has done something so low, it disgust me, you guys should think twice before shopping with gmarket, they might take your money and not deliver your stuff, because they can, what are we gonna do if that happens anyway
