I debated for months about writing this…

I debated for months about writing this review because, honestly, I was exhausted by the whole situation. This is not a recent issue it has been several months since I got my car back — but after yet another problem today, I feel I need to share my experience.

I had an engine replacement carried out under a third-party warranty. From the beginning, this was far from plain sailing. The process took 8–9 months before I had a fully working vehicle again, largely due to delays with the warranty company. During this time, I had to fund hire cars myself as I live in a remote area and need a vehicle for work. This cost me over £5,000.

When my car was first ready for collection, a delivery driver working on Global’s property crashed into it, causing further damage. To be fair, the driver covered the cost of the repairs and arranged an MOT. However, I later discovered that while the exterior looked acceptable, under the bonnet there was a metal plate and bolts used to hold bodywork together. This work was carried out by a third-party contractor working for Global.

I also had a cracked windscreen, which Global did replace.

After finally getting the car back following the engine replacement, I began receiving repeated turbo “restricted engine performance” warnings. I returned the car multiple times and was told nothing was wrong. This went on for months , to the point it became a standing joke that I would have the car back one day and the warning would return the next.
I spent months refusing to drive my car with my children is as it would often go into limp mode while driving the county lanes to my village.

I was eventually advised it could be an electrical issue. By this point, my engine warranty was way past being expired, although Global did continue to look at the vehicle to try to help/answer all calls and emails with questions I had.
Following months of no resolution, I arranged (at my own cost) for the vehicle to be transported to an independent electrical specialist. The recovery company took time-stamped photos showing mileage at collection outside Global and again at delivery to the independent garage. This cost me £350.
I live 40+miles away
Within 10 minutes of inspection, the mechanic identified the fault

a split turbo air pipe.

I then had the engine inspected more thoroughly, and I was honestly horrified by what I saw. There were cable ties used in place of proper fittings, missing bolts, plastic clips not secured, wiring not correctly routed, a missing bolt near the timing chain, and fuel hoses left loose and unclipped. All of this was photographed and video recorded with timestamps.

The independent mechanic described the work as “a bodge job” and said the engine was in a very poor state considering the total cost of the replacement (approximately £13,000, partially covered by warranty). I paid over £200 for him to rectify immediate issues.( all videos and photographed with time and date stamps )

Most recently, I have experienced more battery problems( since having the car back my start stop has never worked again )
. Today I discovered that my battery had been replaced at some point something I was never informed of and never invoiced for. The battery fitted was not the correct specification for a stop/start vehicle and was the wrong voltage. It has now failed catastrophically and leaked battery acid.

I cannot state definitively who changed the battery, as I was not charged for it and it is not listed on any invoices I have for the mechanical works , However, my vehicle has not been to any other garage for repair work during this time.

I am extremely disappointed and angry at how this entire situation has been handled. Beyond the financial impact — over £5,000 in hire cars, £350 recovery, £200 corrective mechanical work — the most upsetting part is knowing I was driving my three young children in a vehicle that had been reassembled in such a questionable manner.

I had considered taking legal action but, due to personal circumstances and the stress already involved in my life , I have not pursued it.

I would strongly advise others to ensure they seek independent inspections and document everything thoroughly not just with this garage , but any garage at all. I wish I had a postive experience but in all honesty after the 3rd party inspection I will never use global again , I had reported this to the RAC too.

Considering how “helpful” they felt , the quality of actual work was very disappointing and had someone looked at my car , the split tube would have be noticed months prior.

I just feel very let down by them.
And I hope going forward they learn from this and have all enginge/turbo fits , inspected throughly before returning to the customer as I believe most of this could have been avoided. I am happy to email all the photos I mention above if they wan

Where do I start

Where do I start. I had an engine rebuild/reconditioned engine supplied and fitted by this company. I live up north so the travel was 280 miles. Speaking to Shaun gave me assurance that this was a professional and competent company. Easy ....Shaun said to fit a engine. My car is a jaguar f type and when picking up the first time they said take it easy for the 1st 1000 miles, which I did. I then took the car to a JAG dealers for a oil and filter change which was also advised by Shaun. THEN the first time I put my foot down the car broke. Back down to Shaun at global engines as it was under warranty. The car was there for 2.5 months so in the meantime I was paying for a hired car whilst being assessed. It took 2 months before starting looking at it, then after all that it was the injectors on one bank that had not been replaced the first time round. On pick up of car the 2nd time round the car was filthy...oil all over. Inside and out..even a oily shoe print on the car bonnet. How do you do that?Scuffs on alloy wheels to paintwork. The cars MOT was failed today 1 month after picking the car up , and the reason why was a broken suspension arm to the front driver side. Mot Mechanic stated grinder gouges are visible, to remove the engine no doubt. I believe that the suspension was damaged when dropping the engine in place. You left ALL engine covers LOOSE when picking up until i said to fit them back. I look forward to a response before deciding upon my next action

So, where do we start? The engine replacement we did was perfectly fine. The issue that you had with your car afterwards was an ancillary fault, that we did not replace or charge you for but as a gesture of goodwill still addressed it for you. We also paid for your car to be cleaned upon collection even though you were incredibly rude towards our staff. Also, the suspension arm has nothing to do with the engine replacement we did, so that is another baseless accusation you have hurled. We have gone out of our way to help you and you have concocted a completely different alternate reality here.

“Wow, this is a sweet engine” looking at it up on ramps, he said it was definitely a great recently reconditioned engine

Earlier this year (2025) I purchased a high mileage Mondeo 2016 diesel. On the way back it broke down in spectacular style, camshaft failure causing cambelt to dislodge. So basically a car I had driven for 5 miles was now a brick on wheels, the AA confirmed complete engine failure and also a friend who owns a local MOT garage confirmed the failure. I was at that stage advised to part the car out as the cost to put right the engine would cost more than the value of the car, however as the rest of the car seemed very good condition I wanted to save it.
That evening, I looked online for a replacement engine, I basically contacted around 10 different suppliers to see who came up with the best options, not necessarily the best price, I was looking for the best engine to fit in my car.
Next morning I had around 6 replies which were all fairly similar on price. Then the phone rang at 9am, it was Jodey from Global Engines of Barking. She explained that she had just sent a quotation over and wanted to discuss the procedure. So we had a good chat about exactly what I wanted and what they had to offer. The deal seemed great, a fully reconditioned engine fitted with new cambelt etc all for a great price, in fact it was the best price I had received so I was very keen to go with Global Engines.
Within a few hours Jodey had arranged for my car to be collected for the 70 mile journey to Barking.
Within a few weeks Jodey called me to let me know that my car was ready, it did come out a bit more expensive than originally quoted due to my old engine being beyond repair for their recondition exchange, however even with this extra price the final price was still within my budget and still cheaper than some other quotes I had received.
The engine fitted was superb, like driving a new car !! I had my mate check it out who owns a local garage and he did actually say “Wow, this is a sweet engine” looking at it up on ramps, he said it was definitely a great recently reconditioned engine.
After a few months of driving I suddenly had a major issue, the car simply died pulling out of a junction. AA came out and said engine failure, I did not believe this as it was such a nice engine. From the side of the road I phoned Global Engines as the engine was still in its 6 month warranty and said what had happened and that the AA said it was engine failure. The guy on the phone said to get it returned to them straight away and they will sort it. The AA took it direct to Global and I awaited the result.
After only a matter of days Jodey called to say all done, no extra charges, it was a simple injector that had failed which they had replaced free of charge under warranty.
So to put it short, the reconditioned engine supplied by Global Engines is superb, when Global were confronted with an issue under warranty they put it right without issue, this shows a great company.
I will not hesitate to recommend Global Engines and will use again if I’m ever in the need of a new engine.
Jodey is also a credit to the company.
Thank you !

I’ve dropped my Range Rover Velar off…

I’ve dropped my Range Rover Velar off to the garage on 20th October 2023 after going through my Warranty Company to drop it off to them as they are a authorised garage. They was only instructed to do a diagnostic and refer back to the warranty company. They informed me the engine has seized and I advised to speak to the warranty company. 3 weeks have gone past and I didn’t receive a update till I saw notification that my car has started and they informed me they changed the engine without my authorisation or the warranty companies and demanding over £6K. Went to the garage they are moving completely hostile especially there worker “Tony”. Also was met by the Owner whose name is “Kamal Siddiqui” which was moving very hostile. It’s now March 2024 and they have not solved this instead issuing threats using their solicitor to pay the unauthorised works balance. I am cured my in the process of issuing a court claim for the damage and my vehicle back.

Hi, your car was brought down to us for an engine replacement which we did with your and your warranty company’s authorisation. We have all the documented evidence of that which we will be presenting in our ongoing court case against your efforts to basically scam us. We have been advised not to disclose the details of our claim publicly by our solicitors. Thank you.

LR Discovery 4 - Replacement Engine

I had a replacement engine fitted in my 2015 LR Discovery 4 SDV6 3.0. Unable to find affordable local expertise here in Bristol I took a gamble and looked further afield, finding these guys in Barking. They arranged collection of my vehicle and within less than 2 weeks, its back on my driveway in full working order! what a service! Great communication from start to finish, regular updates including videos and images of progress which put our minds at ease. Great after care advice was given which we'll follow religiously! Big shout out to the way they looked after my family when they came to collect the car. My wife, son and father-in-law made the journey from Bristol and they were respectfully looked after, shown around the workshops etc made to feel welcome, given explanation of the work carried out, how to look after it going forwards etc. Top Class! Thank You!

The car was washed and polished after which was a great touch!

Top Class Service! Thank You Shawn/Team

Reconditioned engine for my Discovery

This company put a reconditioned engine into my Landrover Discovery and solved a huge problem for me, although the aircon gas is not replaced. Whilst their technical expertise is very good there are aspects of their service which should be noted. The interaction and response from their staff is very good but two things in my dealings with them let them down. The first is that the price quoted does not state whether VAT is included (it’s not, and the website will not allow access to their T&Cs) and the second is that they expect payment of the quoted figure in cash. I might add that walking through that part of London with £9,000 is very stressful. Finally I suspect that at least some of their reviews are written by themselves. The grammar (“we did fire up the engine and done the pressure testing”) they used in my WhatsApp exchanges with them is also seen in some reviews (“they done a terrific job”). I am sure most of the reviews are genuine and I am grateful for what they did for me but they could improve their customer interface.

Engine replacement on 2010 Audi

I had an engine replaced on a 2010 Audi Q7 and the car now has a new life. Steve who dealt with me was excellent and I can’t say how much I love the car. I get 42mpg and it’s been tested on 900 mile journeys to the alps at minus 10C and in France at 41C. Good communication throughout.

Engine Re-build

I had my Land Rover Discovery 4 SDV6 taken to Global Engines following engine failure. From my first conversation with Steve, I was confident that I would be in good hands - he even recommended a transportation company to transport it from Wiltshire to Barking. The service was prompt, and at the price quoted. It takes a bit of faith to send your car somewhere that you have never seen, but I was not disappointed. When I arrived to pick the car up, having been picked up at the local railway station by Tony, I knew I was at a "proper" workshop. The only thing I would have liked to have known, and this is not a gripe, only so I could have organised for it a bit sooner, is that they do not re-gas Air Conditioning on site. However, the system was, as promised, plumbed in and leak free when I got it re-gassed.

The engine runs really well, and has returned the car to its former glory!

Overall, many thanks to Steve, Jodey, and Tony for their excellent service, and for putting up with my questions!

First of all

First of all, this review is a genuine review of my experience with this company.
My discovery was collected by this company a while ago for a replacement engine, when I collected it to be honest there was a few issues with the engine that they fitted to my disquiet, nevertheless Jodi promised me that they would come and collect the discovery and attend to any issues the engine had, and went the extra mile and refurbed the gearbox at no extra charge to me, following them correcting any issues they then delivered the car back to my door again at no charge to me.
The motor has and is driving brilliantly, I would suggest to anyone give this company a chance, it is a worry for customers when they put motors in the trust of others whom we do not know, give Global a chance to put yours right.
As I said there were issues but all corrected, Jodi was brilliant from beginning to end, this is a real review from Mr T Davies of Norfolk
