This update is a follow up to my previous review that was very disappointing. I received an immediate response to my last review from the Senior Claims Specialist.
The Senior Claims Specialist reviewed our case and reversed the previous decision denying our claim.
Our washer is now fixed with a new control panel. Previous to this issue we have always had great support and workmanship. Now with the resolution from the Senior Claims Specialist we plan to continue with company and renew our contract.
If anyone has concerns or disagrees with a decision made ask for a review by Senior Claims Specialist. There is a process to reconcile any grievances.

I purchased a home warranty with a repair or replacement guaranty from First American Home Warranty with a swimming pool rider. My first claim was for a broken light in the pool. Of course I was told that the swimming pool light is not covered, even though the salesman originally told me that any problem with the pool would be repaired or replaced, STRIKE ONE!
This week, my water heater started to leak. I called and a repair company was dispatched. A Z Remodeling and Plumbing. I was charged $100 for the service call. The plumber who arrived told me the unit couldn’t be repaired and I would a new one. In fact, he told me I would be getting the identical unit as a replacement.
Two days later I was told that I was getting the new water heater but I would need to pay $1,340 for the modifications to install the unit. I was told that would cover moving the gas lines, the water lines and the vents. In that I was told I’d be getting the identical unit, I argued that there should be no modifications, but was told that I either pay the $1,340 or they wouldn’t even order the replacement unit. All this while I’ve had no hot water for the last 5 days. STRIKE TWO!!
I then contacted an independent plumber and got a quote to put in a new unit for $1,400 total.
Angry about this, I contacted First American and was told, since I was unhappy with the contractor that they dispatched, I could take a “cash out” offer, which reflected what they would have had to pay the contractor for the installation of a new water heater. That offer was just over $500.
The insurance company, in conjunction with the installer was trying to hold me hostage to pay $1,340 plus the initial $100 service call to install a system they claim was going to cost them less than $600. STRIKE THREE!!!
I plan to file a complaint with the Florida State Attorney General as well as the Florida Insurance commissioner. This probably won’t go anywhere but I’m inspired to be a pain in their ass.
My advice is to NOT DO BUSINESS WITH FIRST AMERICAN HOME WARRANTY!!!
First American is incentivized to decline every claim, beware of the fine print. Over a two-year span, they only approved 1 claim out of 5. The entire system is set up to pocket your annual premiums, pay $150 service charge (which they split with the contractor) and then decline your claim. Be careful, if the contractor finds even a drop of mouse poop next to your HVAC or Pool/Spa equipment, it's an automatic claim declination and considered secondary damage.
Here's one of my favorite fine print responses from First American that accompanies the denial:
Under the section marked Limits of Liability # 2, Repairs or replacements required as a result of missing parts, fire, flood, smoke, lightning, freeze, earthquake, theft, storms, accidents, mud, war, riots, vandalism, acts of God, damage from pests, lack of capacity, or misuse are not covered by this contract.
I like the quality service that you provide most of the time

This is in regards to the Troutman location for First American home warranty. The technician was pretty good at what he was doing. They found out some other mistakes that the builder egg got gone correctly and he corrected that and that caused the system to work properly with no more error great job thank you.

Everything went smoothly from the first phone call to First American Home Warranty until the last repair was made April 22nd. I had 2 appliances in need of repairs at the same time, my washer and refrigerator. I am very satisfied and happy with everything.

Do not use this company! My a/c failed on 22 March. It was fixed on 20 April. Nearly a month to fix what should’ve taken half the time. I called First American to get the a/c fixed. It takes a couple days to get a tech out. He takes a look and tells me I need to clean the outdoor unit. It’s not covered. Okay. It costs me over $200. I’m ready to get the system fixed. But it takes me a couple weeks to get a tech back out. He goes up in my attic, looks over my system, then tells me I need to do more repairs and modifications that total $3000. Now I’m asking myself, what the f does First American pay for?
I pay the $3k, and after another couple of weeks I get a tech to come out and finish the repair.
If these clowns were halfway competent the tech would’ve told me what needed to be addressed on the first visit, so that when it was completed, the repair would’ve been done weeks ago.
First American sucks.

Bad experience. I had a problem with dishwasher closing. They sent their contractor to my house. The technician said it’s normal tear and wear but his office reported something different with caused the claim to be denied. When expressed our concern about the contractor and requested they contact the technician to clarify the issue or send a different contractor for second opinion, they refused and they took the dishwasher for the coverage. Not happy about how they handled the claim

You assign somebody right away to my service request. “At your Pool service” made an appointment and showed up on time. The technician, Tony, knew his stuff. Fixed the problem right away with no issues! I would recommend “American Home warranty” and “At Your Pool Service” company to a friend
