As a student this app is very annoying.

As a student this app is very frustrating. Sometimes when I'm done I like to play games on my computer. My teacher stalks me and gets mad at me She/He even spies on me in other classes, which is wrong. This app should be banned.

Please Don't Use GoGuardian.

As a student, this is devastating. Not only are you being tracked 24/7, which includes at home. If you don't have a computer or phone at home, you'll most likely only have this, and almost everything will be restricted. And I recently found out that it can block entire YouTube categories (e.g., Gaming, Comedy, Entertainment). It can even block any page with keywords. I can't even say the word p then roxy. It just blocks this page. Annoyingly, people can still access explicit content and bypass this. This may cause lots of anxiety from being watched. Whenever someone finds out a website, he has to tell someone, and that person has to tell someone, until some tattletale teacher's pet finds out and, well, tattles. Then it's back from 'yay, I got my work done, now I can do stuff' to 'welp, back to being bored all the time. Thanks.' I feel as though I can speak for every student who has this on their Chromebook: Give us our freedom back!!! However, for a teacher, this may be the best thing ever introduced to them. Not only does it keep people on task, but it also intimidates their students into not doing bad stuff. It tracks their search history, their overall website data, what they log onto, and even their YouTube watch history! "Restricted.
This website has been blocked by your administrator."

Go guardian, please be banished in the dark abyss forever.

Whenever I try to research for some of my ELA projects and Science projects, it’s immediately blocked. Or if I want to play cool math games, the first word I see is restricted. If you’re a teacher and want your student to learn, do not use this. This isn’t made for learning, it’s made for torment and suffering. It also feels like your teacher is stalking you.

hi this is a student

hi this is a student and I am just saying this software makes me feel like a prisoner. the only way you can improve is completely deleting your program. if I was president I would make this illegal and ban it as mass surveillance. in short it just completely sucks!

Overused blocks!

I really hope my administrators can read this, but GoGuardian is unreliable. This is coming from a 5th grader btw who gets 4s on a good amount of subjects. My school uses GoGuardian and I really don't like what it blocks. It, for some reason, blocks comment sections on Scratch studios, which by the way, Scratch is especially educational. It also blocks YT Url to MP3 converters for some reason and it always says it's "inappropiate". I'm writing a google doc about why GoGuardian isn't the safest option as of right now, it's going to be 5 paragraphs long and every detail will be explained clearly. From what other students are saying, teachers can see what we are doing, even at weekends, which makes some students uncomfortable btw. Children can be conversating at home on their computers while teachers can watch their every move. Also, I've already seen some of my classmates find websites that bypass GoGuardian, because they pretend to be a Google assignment, when they're just bypassed games. In conclusion, GoGuardian is unreliable, does not care about privacy, and can be easily bypassed.

Goguardian

Many students and educators find GoGuardian problematic due to its invasive nature and the way it can erode trust in the classroom. Critics often describe the software as "spyware" because it allows administrators to monitor screens, track search histories, and even lock devices after school hours, which many feel is a major invasion of privacy. Furthermore, its filtering system frequently results in "false positives," blocking legitimate educational resources and unfairly targeting marginalized groups. Instead of fostering a healthy learning environment, the constant surveillance can lead to a culture of compliance and anxiety, making school feel more like a place of monitoring than a space for genuine exploration.

We can do something

This software has become a massive hurdle for actual learning. Recently, a friend of mine received an Out of School Suspension (OSS) for "inappropriate use" because he searched for a "naked cat"—which is literally just a hairless Sphynx. When an algorithm can’t tell the difference between a common animal breed and restricted content, the system is fundamentally broken.

The Problems:
Over-Filtering: It’s now blocking Wikipedia, one of the most basic and essential tools for student research.

Paranoia: The administration seems to use these tools under the assumption that students are constantly "organizing attacks," creating a high-stress environment of constant surveillance.

Mental Toll: Being watched every second of the day causes genuine "mental anxiety" and stress, even when you're just trying to relax on the weekend or play a simple game like Smash Karts.

The Result: A Game of Cat and Mouse
Instead of stopping "distractions," these restrictions just force students to find workarounds. When the system is this tight, students are naturally going to look for ways out, such as:

Disabling Wi-Fi to prevent direct blocking of games.

Using Proxy Sites like coursera.gq to reach restricted content.

Alternative Platforms: Sites like DuckMath or StrongDogXP for Discord and TikTok access.

YouTube Downloaders: Tools like TurboStream, Publer, and Y2Mate to bypass video restrictions.

Final Word
Don’t just sit there and accept that your every move is being watched and misinterpreted. We need to start petitions and attend board meetings to tell administrators how GoGuardian-style monitoring affects our mental health. If we all speak up, they can’t ignore us. We need a system built on education, not just surveillance.

Creepy, and useless

It is infuriating as a student. Not only does it blocks apps I NEED, it will block things even though no kid is using it? They will also block google. Don’t use this, it is a waste and is insanely creepy, it harms more than helps.

Spyware

GENUINE spyware, it feels as if you are in a jail cell and cannot escape. Teachers have even come out and explained that this app/website makes them uncomfortable, this should not be legal, this isn't about playing games or explicit websites, it's about destruction of privacy and mental health.
