Pallet of books for a school library

Purchased a pallet of books for a school library from Goldstones. Exceptionally good value for money and they even picked out books to a specification other than their regular advertised children's / adults for us.

Goldstone Book's misleading book description/advertisement.

I ordered a hardback edition of SPQR a History of Rome by Mary Beard.

They sent me a SPANISH language book which was not stated/advised in the Abe Books listing.

I contacted them and they admitted no fault whatsoever and insisted, I would only get a refund if I returned the book to them at my cost.

It was a shoddy transaction due to Goldstone Book's misleading advertisement.

I note that they have re-listed the book, again without mentioning that the book is written in the Spanish language.

Avoid.

Do not purchase anything from these people

Non arrival of book order. I got in contact with customer service via emails, they very kindly offered to send another. Alas that didn't arrive either. Finally Chloe from @goldtonebooks.co.uk couldn't find any previous correspondence that I sent. I then sent proof of communication. Lo and behold she hadn't checked the customer service email.
I would highly recommend that you do not purchase anything from these people.

Ordered a Dylan CD on Amazon was
Expecting a used CD but not a cracked and broken case, wrinkled up booklet and discs that were the most marked and scratched CDs I have ever seen, still waiting a reply from them. Certainly a blocked seller for me now, but I’m sure they really don’t give a damn!!

I buy 100 children's books regularly to put out on the property wall for passers by. Cost £40 without discount. I find the books excellent a generous amount sometimes suitable for a broad range of ages. I like reading David Walliams too. The staff are helpful they don't charge postage I have never had any problems except for the very odd rogue book. Highly recommended I deal with the warehouse department they will also search for any books you want and still don't charge postage if they have them. The have bundles or books published before ISBN no's came in penguins mills and boon novels and general. Often the books are new.

Il Gioco Barocco del Seicento Italiano

A few years ago, on the internet, I listened to the album ‘Il Gioco Barocco del Seicento Italiano’, a collection of twenty-one short pieces of music by ten Italian composers from the Baroque period. I recently listened to it again, and decided that I would like a copy of the CD.

I eventually tracked it down on Amazon.com in the USA, priced at $22.80, and when I checked the seller, I found that it was Goldstone Books in Carmarthen, south Wales.

As I wished to purchase the CD and as it was not listed on Amazon.co.uk, it seemed ridiculous to have to convert pounds sterling to US dollars only for it to be converted back to pounds sterling by Goldstone Books.

I therefore rang the company, and the phone was answered by a young gentleman. I asked him why the company had listed the CD on Amzon.com, but not on Amazon.co.uk and he told me that he thought that it might have been an inadvertent oversight, so I asked him what the price would be in pounds sterling, and after a few moments, he told me that the price would be £16.83.

I then enquired as to the condition of the CD and he told me that, as far as he could see, the disc appeared to be unmarked and that the insert was also in very good condition. As he was happy for me to purchase the CD there and then over the phone (instead of going through Amazon.com.), I did so and opted for free 2nd class delivery.

He estimated that I should expect to receive the CD within about five to seven working days and, in the event, it was delivered just five days later, and it was in exactly the same great condition that he had said it was.

All in all, as the gentleman was quite knowledgeable and also extremely helpful, I found that purchasing from Goldstone Books was quite a pleasure. The service that I received was truly excellent, and easily worth ten stars instead of a mere five.

Useless!

Ordered a used map for holiday in France. Was sent one dated 1998 - absolutely useless as some motorways hadn't been built then!
My order was through Amazon who obviously haven't noticed the large number of dissatisfied customers.

No Book. No Quibble Refund? *cough cough* AVOID.

Ordered a well-known book on Japanese cooking, in late March. A gift to older retired friends who had recently discovered the joy of Japanese cuisine. I received an email stating that book was Dispatched via - note- Royal Mail - on 29 Mar.
Never arrived.
Over the last few weeks, persistent requests for refund led to the ever-dissembling Chloe providing a questionable plea that allegedly Yodel [sic] had delivered it to a "Safe Place" [sic], being the Front Porch, of a house that has no front porch, only a front door. So, not Royal Mail, supposedly delivered A Book - Safe Place being the Front not-a-porch Door - Open to the Elements and opportunists - allegedly on 1 April when both residents were in all day - erm, well, there's the thing.
Apparently, this not Royal Mail [ie allegedly Yodel] were contacted and they allegedly provided a delivery address, and supposedly a GPS delivery location, being the same GPS info obtainable by simply going to Google Maps and typing the Postcode, ie a highly precise location accurate to a few inches, somewhere inside the building very close to the kitchen, a long way from the front door.
Definitely not a mobile GPS position by a courier outside the property.
No proof of delivery, no photo of front door, definitely no photo of non-existent porch.
You can draw your own conclusions as to what is really going on here. Royal Mail? Yodel? Book-Fairy?
Caveat Emptor.
I finally received a refund mid-Jun, no apology.
Treat this "Bookseller" (cough cough) as if they have The Plague, and AVOID.

AVOID! Wrong book sent and no refund

Ordered a book from their eBay site and they sent a paperback not the hardback I ordered. Complained to be told that the description says you may not get the exact version ordered but could return it.
Returned it and they have not refunded me and claim its not been received even though I have sent them proof the post office delivered it.
