We are finding ourselves having to…

We are finding ourselves having to write a second review of just had bad this company is for non profits. We are based in UK and Goodstack verified our charity as a non profit. Great we thought, wrong because then the saga of not being able to verify my connection to it. I am founder and trustee. Ive sent numerous, and I mean numerous emails back and forth. Being told different things all the time, none of which make sense or work. Im asked to use different email addresses because their server is not accepted by Gmail so cant verify the address. How on earth is their server not accepted by Gmail ?? Then told after using a different email I cant use that one either because its a personal one that cant be connected to the charity. Do they think I have a load of email addresses hidden away somewhere that I can just keep producing new ones to apply to them ?

Ive repeatedly asked how can the charity be verified as non profit but then not fully verified or functional until im personally verified ? The latest email says Im verified with Goodstack and have a Goodstack account but Im not verified with Google ?? Makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Meanwhile as others have mentioned this company have lots of information on you personally and all your charity information, financial information everything. What are they using this for ? How are they storing it if your application is rejected or accepted ?

If this is a Google programme, Google need to seriously consider using Goodstack. Its either based on AI responses, or customer service that is polite but almost robotic in response. Quite honestly useless.

We applied for Google Workspace for Non-Profits - Goodstack world-class customer service

We applied for Google Workspace for Nonprofits through Goodstack & were approved for a 14-day trial.. After the 14-day trial ended, we were locked out & unable to reactivate. Not having a clue what to do, we emailed Goodstack customer service for help. Even though we should have reached out directly to Google (Goodstck handles the application process) Goodstack emailed us several links and paragraphs of information so we could contact Google directly. Goodstack went over and above to assist us by providing exactly the information and links to contact Google. Our Workspace for Nonprofits was re-activated the next day. We are so grateful and thankful to Goodstack for world-class customer service & providing nonprofit resources we would otherwise not be able to afford!

Approval Process

During the approval process we needed to slow down the process until our membership had a chance to review and develop consensus that this was the best path forward. I wrote Goodstack to let them know that we would need more time to complete our review. I got back an immediate response that reassured me that I could take the time needed to finish our process. It made me feel that they put quality of service first.

Rigid processes, canned customer service, gatekeeping

My nonprofit organization applied for 501(c)(3) status during the 2025 government shutdown. Like countless others, we received IRS approval but never received our Determination Letter due to the residual effects of the shutdown, downsizing, and ongoing agency dysfunction. The IRS cannot provide a timeline for when the letter will arrive.
The IRS issued an Affirmation Letter instead - a document that confirms our 501(c)(3) status and contains all information found in a Determination Letter. Yet Goodstack refuses to accept it.
Despite being aware of this widespread IRS issue affecting nonprofits nationwide, and despite the Affirmation Letter proving our tax-exempt status, Goodstack's customer service responses have been so templated I genuinely questioned whether I was communicating with AI. For nearly a month, this back-and-forth has blocked our organization from accessing the services and discounts a young nonprofit needs to succeed.
When I requested supervisor review of my documentation, I was told someone would follow up. That was a week ago. No response.
When brands trust Goodstack to verify nonprofit status, but Goodstack fails to respond appropriately to an industry-wide crisis outside organizations' control, it becomes gatekeeping. We have 501(c)(3) status. We've proven it. Yet we remain locked out - indefinitely, apparently.
Other verification platforms (like Taproot+) have shown flexibility in accepting IRS Affirmation Letters during this crisis. Goodstack could do the same. They're choosing not to.

Hi Santana,

I hope you're well.

Thank you for sharing your feedback.

We understand your concerns and truly appreciate your continued cooperation while we carefully review your application.

We want to support your organization so you can continue the important work you’re doing.

As part of our verification process, we’re required to confirm that an organization is a registered nonprofit in their country, in this instance The United States of America. This typically involves verifying your organization directly against the IRS database or reviewing documentation such as an IRS Determination Letter confirming the organizations 501(c)(3) status.

We’re currently experiencing a higher volume of enquiries, but please rest assured that we are reviewing your application and will notify you as soon as we have an update.

I’ve also requested additional information via Trustpilot so I can locate your application and ensure it’s prioritised for review.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

We look forward to assisting you further and will do our utmost to see your application successfully approved.

Thanks,
Sandrea

Update:

Hi Santana,

We’re delighted to confirm that your nonprofit has been successfully verified and your claim has been approved.

Welcome to Goodstack, we’re thrilled to have you on board!

If there’s anything further we can assist you with, our helpful customer service team is available via email at help@goodstack.org.

All the best,
Sandrea

Goodstack keeps asking for documents. Not worth the hassle.

Goodstack keeps asking for documents to prove my affiliation with my non-profit. I am the founder. I am emailing them from my non-profit's .org email. My name is listed on the About Us page on the non-profit website. I've produced private documents that are on their list of documents for verification, and now they're asking for a bank statement. When I said I don't have a bank statement, they claimed they can't verify my affiliation with the non-profit because I am not providing any documents, which is not true.

Their privacy policy is also concerning to me as it seems to give them the right to share/sell information that non-profits provide, which, if true, is extremely concerning. The privacy policy is ambiguous, but this quote is direct from their site: "You hereby consent to us contacting you for marketing purposes with information about our Services, promotions and special offers. If you no longer wish to receive such marketing information, you can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us as indicated in Section 1 above or unsubscribing from the communications.
If you have given consent, we may share your information with carefully selected third party organisations and business partners and they may contact you directly."

Regardless of what information they're "legally" able to sell/share, Goodstack's process raises serious privacy concerns. If you read other reviews, other people share that Goodstack keeps asking for more and more private documents while claiming it's a way to prove affiliation. One person said they gave them 12 documents on the list and Goodstack still won't verify them. I've been messaging them back and forth for 2 weeks. If I send a document, they email me back saying they'll check and then a few days later will ask for another document (rinse and repeat). This process is really not worth the hassle and I hope Google reconsiders the partnership with this company.

I question their legitimacy

I question their legitimacy. In verifying our charity's non-profit status, they asked for 12 different documents including internal documents that would have no bearing on our tax-exempt status. Then they asked for copies of bank statements. When we sent blinded (i.e., no account numbers showing) statements, they replied as follows: "Thanks for your response and for sending over those files. While they provide great context, I’m specifically looking for a document that clearly outlines the mission and vision of your organization. Could you please share the official statement or a strategic overview that includes these?"

It's clear to me that this organization is applying some type of litmus-test screening as to whether a charity is "worthy." That's not their job: their job is to confirm whether an organization is tax-exempt: that can be confirmed in ten seconds with a tax identification number.

Hi Howard,

I hope you're well.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback.

We truly appreciate the work your organization is doing and the impact you’re making in your community. I’m sorry that our process caused any frustration, our goal is always to make applications as smooth as possible so nonprofits can focus on the important work they do.

As part of our verification process, we may request additional documentation to confirm an individual’s affiliation and learn more about an organizations mission/activities, to ensure it aligns with our partners eligibility guidelines.

Our partners select which types of nonprofits are eligible for their programs. For example, some educational organizations may not be eligible if the partner has a separate program for schools, colleges etc. Please refer to our help centre and the partners website directly for more information on eligibility guidelines for each nonprofit program.

We’ve reached out to you via Trustpilot to request additional details so we can locate your application. Once we hear back, we’ll work quickly to get your application across the line and support your organization in accessing the tools it needs.

We look forward to hearing from you and supporting your application through the process.

Complete disappointment/Eventual Success.

Goodstack verification process itself was slightly convoluted, however this was my first time attempting this sort of verification and I was able to successfully complete it.

Once that was complete, we were immediately rejected without any real reason given. I engaged with Goodstacks help team which was unable to offer any real advice except to resubmit. Finally, after a month of back and forth I received a response with an actual reason. The Goodstack representative reported we were rejected by Adobe nonprofit due to being categorized as "Mental Health" which is excluded by Adobe. I was provided a link to Adobe's website which list the criteria. The criteria does not make any mention of "Mental Health" nonprofits being exclude and the statement from Goodstack's help team appears entirely erroneous. I notified them as such and have so far been completely ignored.

UPDATE: Havng written this review, Goodstack customer service reached out and corrected the issue. We were able to successfully collect the discounted Adobe. I am hopeful we will be able to access the full 10 we are allowed, but have not yet. Despite the up and down of this process Goodstack did ensure we made it through the process and I am grateful.

Hi Jonathan,

I hope you're well.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

We appreciate the time and patience you have shown throughout the application process, and we want to acknowledge the important work your organization is doing within your community.

As part of our verification requirements, we work to:

- Verify an organization’s nonprofit status

- Confirm that the applicant is associated with the organization they are applying on behalf of

- Confirm eligibility based on our partners program guidelines

For programs such as Adobe, eligibility is determined using criteria provided directly to us by the partner. Not all ineligible categories are publicly listed on partner websites, however we regularly review and confirm these requirements with our partners to ensure applications are assessed consistently.

We would welcome the opportunity to revisit your application and confirm that the eligibility category applied is appropriate based on your organization’s mission and website. I've reached out via Trustpilot to request additional information, and I hope to hear from you soon.

Our team is here to support you, and we’d be happy to work together to ensure your application is successfully processed.

I look forward to assisting you further!

Thanks,

Very slow process, conflicting information, and serious privacy concerns

Our experience during the Google for Nonprofits verification process through Goodstack was very disappointing. We were first told that our organization had already been verified, so we followed the instructions based on that information. Later, we found out this was not true.

We respected every request and submitted all additional documents promptly, including sensitive financial documents. After that, there was little to no follow-up. We had to send multiple reminders just to get responses, and communication throughout the process was extremely slow.

As an EU-registered organization, we were also uncomfortable that there was no clear explanation of how our data would be handled, what privacy policy applied, or the legal basis for requesting such documents. This raised serious GDPR and accountability concerns for us.

Goodstack may have an important mission and strong partnerships, including with Google for Nonprofits, but the way our case was handled did not reflect that. There was a clear lack of ownership, urgency, and understanding of how important this process is for the organizations going through it.

We hope the team becomes more aware of the responsibility that comes with working alongside organizations like Google and the nonprofits they deal with, so that the quality of their work better reflects those expectations.

In the end, we contacted Google directly and the verification was completed within 10 minutes, after we had waited weeks for clarity from Goodstack.

Very disappointing experience. We sincerely hope not to come across this team again.

I am having issues verifying my organization. I have uploaded the documents several times. I have attempted with my IRS non-profit verification letter and WA SOS letter of of non-profit verification. I can look up all my information through the IRS or WA SOS easily. I am not sure how Goodstack can't seem to find our organization and verify us. I have been trying for several months. Adobe Acrobat order rejected because categorised as "Social Action"

As a previous purchaser of Adobe products for our charity (via Charity Digital), this time we were redirected to Goodstack to complete the order.
I received an almost immediate rejection "we unfortunately are unable to confirm your eligibility for the program" but without giving details.
I emailed the help desk and got a scripted reply after 4 days to say we had been verified as a charity but categorised as "Social Action" and therefore not eligible according to Adobe's non-profit criteria. Since I couldn't see any reference on Adobe's website to Social Action, I've emailed again to request a review (no reply as yet).

I can only assume the initial rejection was delivered by AI, which allows a reduction in staff headcount at Goodstack to the point where they are mainly taken up dealing with the consequences of the AI decisions ("we are currently receiving a high volume of tickets") and not able to respond quickly to any queries. I can't even see the option for online chat on the website let alone a phone number but maybe I am not looking hard enough, so tedious and soul destroying I am finding this.

POSTSCRIPT Updating from * to *** rating after Sandrea speedily re-assessed us as being eligible for Adobe non-profit pricing (_without_ requiring any further information). I would have given ***** if this had been done in the first place. Thanks Sandrea.

Software discounts not worth the hassle

Our only experience with Goodstack is as a third-party enabler for our Adobe discount, so I can't speak to their competence for other services. Adobe switched to Goodstack from Tech Soup, and the result for us has been awful. Very slow response to my questions about their highly confusing process, and then the email replies contained inaccurate instructions. Finally figured it out on my own, but the total time this required resulted in a larger cost than the software discount. In fact, we are now looking at alternatives to Adobe products. Sounds like a lose-lose outcome.
