Company seemingly not trading anymore

Was puzzled as to the recent bad reviews here as have used Grandy's in the past with no issues. However, it seems their website has gone down in the past month or so suggesting to me that they're no longer trading and most likely gone bust.

WARNING - DO NOT BUY FROM GRANDY’S CAMERAS – A COMPLETE SCAM OPERATION

WARNING: DO NOT BUY FROM GRANDY’S CAMERAS – A COMPLETE SCAM OPERATION

If you value your money, your time, and your sanity, avoid Grandy’s Cameras at ALL costs. This company is nothing more than a fraudulent scam, operating under the guise of a legitimate retailer while preying on unsuspecting customers.

We made the grave mistake of trusting them with a significant purchase—a Canon R5—intended for a charity project supporting schools and children's theatre. Instead of delivering on their promises, they strung us along with excuse after excuse, repeatedly claiming the order was on its way, only to delay, deceive, and manipulate us further.

Each time we inquired about our purchase, they dangled a fake "discount" in front of us, encouraging us to wait just a little longer, all while knowingly stealing our money. When it became clear they had no intention of fulfilling the order, they outright refused to refund our payment and then ghosted us entirely.

At this point, we have no choice but to pursue legal action to recover our funds—money that should have gone toward helping people. The impact of their scam goes beyond financial loss; it has actively disrupted a charitable initiative and wasted valuable time and resources.

Grandy’s Cameras is a shameless, unethical, and outright fraudulent company. We urge everyone to stay far, far away and warn others before they, too, become victims of this deceitful scam company.

If you've had a similar experience, report them immediately to the relevant consumer protection agencies, trading standards, and online fraud authorities. Let’s hold these scammers accountable!

I've used Grandys for the purchase of a…

I've used Grandys for the purchase of a number of Canon lenses and a canon R3 and they delivered after some delay. But on sept23 2024 I placed an order for 2No CanonR5ii cameras, one for me and one for my son. I'm still waiting January 18th. There is absolutely no replies to any emails and their 'live chat' appears to be dead and now says 'message us'. I have emailed them and cancelled the order and still have not had any reply. What has happened to them??? I need to know as they have a lot of my hard earned money that I want returned.

Non-delivery

I placed an order for a camera from them, which they confirmed last October.

It did not arrive within the promised time. After chasing I got an email telling it would take up to 32 business days for the item to ship to them, and then onwards to me.

They did not reply to my last communication to them.

It is now 42 business days.

It feels awfully like they have grabbed the money and are preparing to go bankrupt without delivering the goods. If lots of others have a similar experience then that seems even more likely.

I have asked for my money back. I will wait and see.

If I receive my money back or my camera I will edit this review.

Edit Three days later. They do not acknowledge my cancelling the order. Their online chat is "away" and promises to contact by email, which they don't do.

Imagine having to return something under their warranty. Clearly nothing would be done.

I have begun the process of trying to recover my money through Paypal. I have also reported to the Police ActionFraud website which seeks to correlate with other complaints (so if you have one ...)

Strongly recommend you give this company a miss. Even if they are legit (dubious) the hassle of getting what you ordered out of them is simply not worth it.

Final Update. Paypal have refunded my money. Raising the matter with them has proved the easiest part of the whole experience.

Something definitely wrong with this company…

I have purchased two items from Grandy's in the past and was very pleased with the transactions. Howerever
something is definitely wrong at this company at the moment. I placed two orders for camera and lenses one on 21st September 2024 which took until 8th November to arrive, the second order was placed on the 24th September 2024. After numerous emails and being promised that delivery was imminent. I told them if they could not guarantee delivery by 20th December, when I was going on holiday, to cancel the order and issue me with a refund. I never heard from them again. On 23rd December I contacted PayPal and reported what had happened and on 27th December refunded me in full......thank goodness for PayPal!.
Needless to say I will never buy from Grandy's Camera again.

Ordered a camera on 24.10.24, after waiting the 10 days for it to be delivered I eventually got a reply to say it would be another 3 weeks, at which time I asked to cancel the order and requested a refund. After trying to contact them via the website and email, I am yet to receive a refund for £698 and still no reply...

Avoid this company at all costs

Avoid this company at all costs. I ordered a camera in late September, which they advised would take about 3 weeks to be delivered. There were initial updates from an employee there, but after two months I requested a refund. He advised that would take no more than 10 days. After 10 days nothing and he stopped replying to all my messages. I had to dispute the payment through Paypal and thankfully after another month, they refunded me. My guess is that it's a scam company, a lot of the emails I received seemed a little non-human and AI.

Please avoid at all costs

Please avoid at all costs. 3 months waiting and haven't received my camera. They've stopped responding to my emails (I only did 3 emails over 2 months that I got answer, so no overwhelming for over £3k worth camera). Now case open with PayPal and still no answer from Grandys. Don't want to know what would be like in case of warranty. Never again.

Gandys don't deliver, customer services is very poor

Placed a order for a Canon R10, the website suggested that it was in stock. Paid via PayPal, a few days later I got an email saying that there would be a delay in delivery and to watch the tracking number. After a few weeks I contacted them via chat and they said it was delayed yet again. After a day or so I cancelled the order, they said that the refund would take up to 15 working days! I waited well past this date without a refund and no answer to chat or emails, so I contacted PayPal to get a refund from them. I'm pleased to say that PayPal was great and have organised the refund.
I really wouldn't use Gandys, quite a slick website but full of empty promises and don't deliver.

Missing refund after cancellation of order

I purchased a camera in November but cancelled a few days later following contact to establish delivery timescales which were way longer than was advertised. It is now over a month later and I haven’t received my refund. I have had to raise a dispute through PayPal. I would not recommend using this company if you want to see your goods or money again.

Grand Scam?

I ordered and paid for a Canon R7 and lens on 20th October 2024, from Axel Infotech Corporation trading as Grandy's Camera. Having waited for a month with no replies to email enquiries I complained to PayPal. That generated a response (looking good to PayPal) promising a delivery date in early December. Nothing. No replies to further emails. Now pulling out some big guns. In my opinion a Grand Scam. You make up your own minds.

DREADFUL !!!!

DREADFUL !!!!! - EQUIPMENT DIDN’T ARRIVE. FULL REFUND BY PAYPAL
I ordered a Nikkor Z180/600 lens and a TC1.4 teleconverter on 18.11.2024, against a stated delivery time of 5-7 business days. I paid just under £1600.00 and paid with PayPal.
25.11.2024 email sent chasing delivery date. Same day response from “Liam” stating order would be shipped on 17-20 business days and then delivered within 10-12 business days. Liam email stated “Unfortunately, some of our packages were returned by the shipping carriers without any specific reasons, causing a backlog.” Quite what the difference is between shipping and delivery remains a mystery to me.
28.11.2024 email sent to Grandy seeking confirmation of fixed delivery date, not a delivery time frame.
29.11.2024 email received advising they expect to ship the order within 10-12 business days.
29.11.2024 email sent to Grandy advising they still had not advised of a fixed delivery date ….. NO REPLY.
05.12.2024 email sent chasing Grandy for fixed delivery date ….. NO REPLY.
15.12.2024 email sent advising Grandy I was raising a refund request with PayPal ….. NO REPLY.
15.12.2024 refund request made to PayPal, same day PayPal confirmed seller had been contacted and given until 20.12.2024 to respond.
20.12.2024 no response from seller, PayPal confirm case closed in my favour and a full refund will be made to me within 5 days.
21.12.2024 Full refund received from PayPal …. 10/10 to PayPal
THANK YOU PAYPAL !!!!

The bad ostriches of mail order

Twelve weeks after placing an order for a big ticket item goods still not received. PayPal were quick and efficient to provide refund

Grandy’s Cameras did:

Promise “news coming soon”

Bought Postage but didn’t post the item

Blamed the Post Office, even though item never posted

Answered weekly emails asking for an update

Then stopped answering emails

With so many five star traders offering a similar business model why would anyone risk dealing with Grandy’s Cameras

Scammers - AVOID

I placed an order on Grandys website for a Canon R6 MKII expecting a 7 day delivery, 10 days later and no camera so I contacted "customer support" who took three days to respond to tell me there would be a four-week wait. I immediately asked for the order to be cancelled. Three days later the order cancellation was confirmed.

Eight weeks later I still haven't been refunded and have no camera.

PayPal is now dealing with the matter. Fingers crossed I get my money back from these scammers.

10 weeks later with no camera and no refund. AVOID!

I bought an expensive Canon mirrorless DSLR via Grandys due to their keen pricing and stated 7day delivery times.

After 10 days had passed since payment, and numerous requests for an update, someone called Liam informed me via email that I would have to wait another 6 weeks.

I immediatly request teh order be cancelled and a full refund was given.

10 weeks later and I have no camera and no refund.

Currently waiting for Paypal to investigate.

I ordered a Z Nikon 180-600 mm lens from them, it took a lot longer than they said it would. After a few emails, I was told it was on its way, I did receive it eventually.
I think when you order an item they then order it from another company, I don’t think they hold any stock.

IMPORTANT: focus on the legitimate NEGATIVE reviews

I "purchased" a camera body and lens mount from Grandy's for £1600 and have still not received my order after two months. Unfortunately, this delay seems to be a common issue, contrary to what the company suggests. Negative reviews repeatedly highlight similar experiences - although many suspiciously put a easy-going spin on it (i.e. just hang on in there for a couple of months and your kit will arrive...WHAT? A couple of months?!); I have to question how laid back you have to be to part with £1000's with no updates on the delivery; smell a rat anyone?
There are many reputable camera shops in the UK that comply with local trading standards and laws and offer transparent pricing. Grandy's Camera, despite appearing to be a family-run business, must be importing grey goods, resulting in lower prices but potentially problematic warranties and services; definitely worth checking this before buying from this outlet.
My past personal experience has shown that when dealing with grey imports, manufacturers may not honour warranties, leading to costly repairs abroad (Japan in my case!). Grandy's undercuts UK prices but provides eye-watering poor service, with no phone contact and infrequent email responses and a fictitious Bristol shop that's not listed on Companies house. While they provide tracking numbers, in my case, it has never been updated; it's there to offer reassurance. This is all blood-pressure elevating behaviour which I so wish I'd seen coming - hence this review to others about to take this leap with your hard earned cash.
Numerous reviews here suggest waiting patiently for your order, but to me this raises a flag; how many consumers are really happy to wait additional months with no updates? If you're considering a substantial purchase, it's worth questioning whether saving a small amount is worth the long wait and uncertain service, especially when supporting potentially overseas operations at the expense of legitimate UK sellers.
I am waiting to see if PayPal will help me retrieve my money. Grandy's told me that a refund would be issued, but that was carefully timed, I believe, when they received a communication via PayPal about my intention to claim against them and encourage me to drop the case. Honestly - don't risk it.
