Ordered a Christmas present on 6 December. Was told it would be delivered by 26 December. Bit of a long time, I thought, but it might still arrive within a few days. Now the 27 December and no sign of... See more

If I could give it a negative rating
If I could give it a negative rating, I would give it -5 stars. Customer service is so bad. I ordered the book of this shower on Abebooks. After I waited a month and still didn't get the book, I texted the seller. Unexpectedly, the answer was that I was nothing more than a robot. And in the end no books arrived at all!!! Just like a scam. Don't buy from this company!
Do not purchase through this company
I am an avid book collector- and when I received my book- it was damaged in mail- , looks to be the sellers packaging that caused the problem- they sent it in a yellow envelope with no protection.. ends got badly damaged, and when I asked for it to be returned and get another one- they just wanted to give me a 15% refund...??!!
The Experience so far.
Despite being registered in Derby, on the ' Abe Books Website ', beneath the headline of being located in '' Castle Donnington'', on that same website, copied-and-pasted below, here is the same company's other alleged address:-
'' Company Name: GreatBookPricesUK
Legal Entity: Far Corner Europe Limited
Address: 19-20 Bourne Court, Southend Road, Woodford Green Essex, UK IG8 8HD
Registration #: 10691061
Authorized representative: Danielle Hainsey ''.
I am going to report their Google listing to Google.
Absolutely Terrible!
Purchased from them through AbeBooks.
When it did not arrive by anticipated date and the tracking number did not appear to work, I wrote an e-mail and received the canned "Thank you for contacting us; we are currently processing your request and hope to have the issued resolved soon. Again, we apologize for all inconveniences caused and hope we can serve you in the future." response as everyone else reports.
When I pointed out that this did not answer the question about checking for the accurate tracking number, and that most customers probably did not really enjoy or find comfort from the canned responses... I received the same canned reply.
The books did finally arrive today, nearly a week late (and after I had re-purchased the books on eBay) only to be in GERMAN, despite not being listed as such (if I had wanted the German version, I'd have just gotten it on Amazon!).
I then went to return it as wrong... and found out that to do so the shipping would all be through me and would cost more than I would get back.
I've written to AbeBooks hoping they'll remove them as a seller.
Purchased a book from them via Abe…
Purchased a book from them via Abe which never turned up and both this company and Abe ignored my requests for a refund. Would give 0 stars if possible. Book still listed for sale on their site. DO NOT USE.
Do not trust this company
I purchased 2 books from ABE BOOKS, both where being dispatched by Greatbookprices. One of them never arrived and despite my several attempts to get information or a refund -there was no reply at all!
This is so bad, not just for teh money I lost but for those trying to support independent book sellers it's not really encouraging!!!!
If there was 0 stars this is the rating I'd give them!
Order cancelled without giving a reason
Ordered a book from them at a competitive price only for them to cancel the order the next day without giving any explanation. Had a look online the same day ( on Abebooks) to see it advertised again at twice the price. Don’t buy from this shower - completely dishonest!
Books are sourced from USA - expect long delays.
Despite this seller on Abe Books being named as Great Book Prices UK with an address in Derby UK, the book was sourced and sent from the USA. It took 4 weeks to arrive. However, after 3 weeks, I began to suspect that the order was lost and it was then that I read the reviews. If I had known that the Derby address was just a front, I would have ordered the book from a proper UK-based trader. It's only fair to give a 3 Star rating as the book did eventually turn up but I give them 1 Star for transparency.
Deceitful and dishonest
I ordered a book online which was listed as "new". When it arrived, it was obviously damaged. The front cover, the back cover and the pages in between.
I sent it back to Greatbookprices for a refund on 20th November via Special Delivery. They received the book the following day. It is now three weeks later and despite repeated requests and complaints, I am yet to receive my refund.
They are charlatans.
Don’t buy from them
On December 3rd I bought a book through abebooks which was apparently offered by this seller Great Book Prices UK. On the same day of the purchase I then realised I already had a copy of the book and cancelled it through the website option. As for today December 8th nobody has acknowledged my several emails asking to cancell and don’t send the book. Instead I received the shipping confirmation. The most outrageous thing is the fact that they charge 5 pounds for delivery and then I get December 24th as the estimate delivery date. This is british based book seller and the book has been sourced out the country. Moreover, nobody will be here on that day or around it. Abebooks are themselves doing absolutely nothing about it.
scam artists
I purchased a book from greatbookpricesUK through Abebooks expecting the item to be posted from the UK! However, this was not the case one frustrating month of waiting later (so clearly not posted within the UK then!) the item arrived.
The item that arrived wasn't what I purchased or what was advertised to be for sale. After initiating a return to get a refund `I`m now expected to pay the return postage on the item in order to get a refund.
The name is completely misleading with the "UK" included i have contacted both gbpUK and Abebooks to rectify this situation both have been as useful as a chocolate kettle and I won't be purchasing anything more from either again.
Taking money under false pretenses
Advertising/Selling books they don't have. Take money then go and source book, delivery timescales as long as the proverbial piece of string. Dishonest and deceitful
Insanely bad customer service.
This company is one of a whole nest of drop-shipping operations run by a bunch of scammers that trade as 'Far Corner'.
Basically, they have no stock and every item listed for sale has to be ordered, repackaged and then forwarded to the buyer, which is why their deliveries take such an impossibly long time to arrive.
Added to this, they have THE WORST customer service you will ever experience in your entire life.
I honestly can't figure out whether it is staffed by poorly programmed bots, or hopeless illiterate halfwits, but, either way, a troop of trained seals could do a better job.
I recently contacted them to ascertain whether they actually had a physical copy of the book I wanted, here are a few highlights:
Me: "Would you please be kind enough to confirm that you currently have a copy of this book in physical inventory in the United Kingdom? Thank you."
Greatbookprices: "Thank you for your inquiry. In order to better research your order; please provide the following information: your order number, the order date, and any other pertinent item/order information."
Me: "I haven't made an order, I am trying to ascertain whether or not you have a copy of **** in physical stock. Do you have the book?"
Greatbookprices: "I understand that it can be concerning when there is lack progress shown on the carrier's website. We use a combination of private and public carriers which can create gaps in scanning events. Your order should arrive shortly."
This has now been going on for nine days.
Their support staff are literally incapable of understanding the most basic of enquiries, it's really quite frightening to imagine that people like that walk among us.
It goes without saying that I would advise people to give this shonky company a very wide berth.
Utterly useless
Utterly useless. I’m not received. They do not respond to any emails instead using an auto response bot. I doubt the books they list for sale are in the UK.
Nowhere near as bad as made out online
Made my purchase and heart sank when I saw all the deeply negative reviews after. Decided to give it time before opening a PayPal case review. To my delight I received quite prompt replies when I contacted them and it actually arrived in half the time quoted. Also, £2.80 P&P is cheap. So that's the good, now the bad. It was listed as New but the copy I received had a small split in the spine and crease front and back. Whether this was due to inadequate packing I can't say but seriously, I'd have rather had the option to pay £1/2 more on decent packaging to ensure a £20 book arrived in the condition it was sent, rather than a single polythene covering that did very little to protect it. Easily done.

Delivery is appalling. You will wait. And wait. And wait. But book don't come.
They've stolen 9 quid off me.
Make sure it doesn't happen to you.
Avoid these scammers.
Not UK
UK? Well my book was shipped from the States in a plastic bag which was battered and torn on arrival and that took two weeks. The book edges are of course battered as well. Never again, be warned.
Very slow delivery
Ordered from GreatBookPricesUK.
At time of placing the order it said up to 14 days for delivery, which seemed excessive as the book only had to come from Derby, not much more than 100 miles.
Five days after ordering I was given a tracking number that said it was for Royal Mail but the number did not exist in their records.
After waiting another week I raised a query with the seller but received only an automated reply, nothing so courteous as a personal response from the bookseller. This, however, said that the courier would be either Hermes or Whistle, and when I tried tracking in the Whistle site next day it acknowledged the number and said that the item had just been picked up the day before.
Whether this was by coincidence or at my prompting I do not know, but even then it took another 9 days before the book arrived, delivered by Royal Mail!, 20 days after ordering.
The book itself was perfectly satisfactory but the delivery service was appalling.
Delivery takes too long
This seller takes several times as long as others to deliver products. When one enquires why the delay, one receives an automated reply which tells me that this is not an isolated issue. My advice: but from a seller who will actually deliver your purchase in a timely fashion.
Book did not arrive. Avoid these fraudsters.
Ordered from them through AbeBooks. Book did not arrive. Customer service was non-existent. They claim to be a UK company with a UK address, but seemingly they are actually American, based in the states. My book was ordered on 16th July and when it hadn't arrived I emailed them a few times asking for an update. These emails were ignored. They then recorded a Royal Mail tracking number against my order in the Abe portal. Interestingly this number was not at any point recognised by Royal Mail. They then asked me to wait until 3rd August, assuring me the book would arrive by then. This then changed to 5th August. When that was breached I emailed asking for a refund. They replied, asking me what I had ordered and to confirm my address, which at this point did seem a little odd. I emailed a few more times asking for a refund. When these emails were ignored I contacted my card provider and requested a chargeback. What a shoddy company. I don't believe the book was ever dispatched. I will never knowingly shop with this company again and I advise anyone else to steer clear.
