The journey was great with wonderful scenery All the meals were top class Only adverse comments: The cabin was very snug but I do understand the reasons Considering the age of most of the people onboard I think you should consider putting hand rails in the showers

The journey was spectacular and the staff was very caring and helpful I cannot give anything but the greatest praise
Very nice holiday with excellent excursions and food. Cabin a bit small for our liking but nice spacious shower. Some of the shore excursions were longer than necessary but needed to coordinate with the ship travel schedule.
Overall the ship was very comfortable and well appointed. The cabin was comfortable , but possibly slightly smaller than other river cruises. Meals were excellent and plentiful , but we would have preferred a buffet at lunch time , rather than a set 3 course meal . The scenery was beautiful as was the weather. The excursions included were interesting and informative , and we had the same guide all week . On most occasions excursions started at 08.30 , with breakfast between 07.00 - 08.30. The most disappointing excursion was the one to Salamanca . The tour seemed to be rushed and we had too much time afterwards waiting for the coach , very hot day. On the day of return there was strike by the airline but GRJ arranged for us to stay an extra day in a hotel on the coast and rebooked flights for the next day . In addition GRJ provided an allowance to cover the extra cost of meals . So overall this was well organised and well run trip.
An enjoyable cruise through stunning scenery. Cabins rather on the small side. Rather than two visits to port factories, one port and one wine would have been more interesting.
A short cruise up and down the Douro, stopping at various points and including interesting visits to Porto, Salamanca, Almego and Guimaraes
Excellent in most ways, the travel arrangements, the ship, the crew, the food, and the visits to local towns and buildings. The quality and presentations of the local guides used was mixed.
Enjoyed the Duoro river cruise. GRJ was great as always.Iain and jane and especially Matthew at the desk were great and professional and very helpful. Good food though though selection of wines could have been better (but then it was Portugese wine!!)
Excellent scenery, comfortable accommodation, very good excursions and good food and service. Very enjoyable.
Disappointed in cramped cabin size on top deck. Frequent bumbling miscommunication from Tour Leader. Excursions started mostly at 8.30 am - a little later would have resulted in less of a crush / queue at breakfast. Boat crew were professional under crowded circumstances. The Douro beautiful . Meet and greet at Gatwick very unclear - we mostly helped each other!
Check in at Gatwick a complete shambles. Lots of customer complaints - you need to get that sorted. Cabin too small, we upgraded for what? Cabins below were no different. A way of getting extra money from your customers. Nowhere to sit and relax apart from lounge area. A very tiring holiday, all excursions were a good drive away which meant on the morning tours you were away early. Then taken back to the boat for lunch then off again. You also missed a lot of the Douro Valley whilst on these trips as the boat would move to the next mooring station. What we saw of the Douro was beautiful. The boat was kept very clean, staff were all charming and the food good. Compared with the cruise we did with your company last year we would not chose this one again. We felt we needed another holiday to recover.
Great trip, wonderful crew and manager. Small cabin but size determined by width of locks on the Duoro river
Interesting trip, excellent food and attentive staff. Sailing on the river is totally relaxing. Getting up early in the morning for excursions by coach meant rushed breakfasts.
The Amalia Rodrigues was a beautiful and clean riverboat. Thoroughly enjoyed the staff and crew. Our cabin was nicely appointed, clean and comfortable with wonderful views from the sliding glass windows. The changes to the itinerary were a little frustrating, having to stay docked for 2 days outside Porto...... though walking to old town via a boardwalk was quite enjoyable (took about 25-30 minutes each way). Food on board was varied and well presented, though the dining room was quite crowded. Seemed as though too many were a board.... perhaps needed two dining options. Drink cards, though a good idea, seemed to be perhaps more of a bother... if you left it in your cabin, misplaced it, didn't have enough on it, etc.... and then having to remember to cash it in if the full amount wasn't used. /The ports of call were wonderful, transportation top notch, guides all very knowledgeable and friendly and helpful. Was a good time of year to go, not high season. Overall very enjoyable.
The first 2days weren’t good .We didn’t move and when we opened our curtains we were looking into another cabin.Weather was bad which didn’t improve mood.On the Thursday we moved at last and then that was fine. Some of the excursions were a bit long and some places weren’t the most exciting.Generally we loved the experience and food and staff we’re marvellous
A super wee on board the Amalia Rodrigues. The crew were exceptionally friendly as well as being professional and happy. Our guide, Iain was very attentive to our needs even with such a large group. The only downside was the rush to dinner and lunch as the group was so large.
The Portuguese crew were lovely, the river beautiful, the excursions challenging for those of a nervous disposition as there are vertiginous drops. The plane transfers were problematic for some as couples were separated—on the outward flight my wife didn’t even have a ticket! The dining experience was variable, some tables very cramped.
Everything was excellent 👌 👏 🙌 except for the flight from Gatwick Airport &the flight home, we had knowwhere to sit down at Dorro airport, we didn't know about the 3 nights in Lisbon. It was not in our brochure.
The crew were fantastic and couldn’t have been more helpful
Overall average, disappointingly we did not sail for the first 2 days of our 8day cruise, when we did the programe was completely altered meaning we were doing more coach travelling and we should have had to do.Also the cabins were not fit for purpose being too small for couples requesting a double cabin, the restaurant was too cramped dealing with 135 passengers, the ship facilities in general were very minimal.
