The rail travel was dreadful due to many trains being cancelled. The hotel West Wing was rather tired and the first three nights the food was pretty poor. It improved after the guide complained. The trips out were very good the holiday just needed a better quality of food and the West Wing needs refurbishing.
Poorly arranged bathroom. No cupboard or shelf storage in rooms. Breakfast buffet poorly organised with items missing. Buffet had nobody in charge. Dinner somewhat shambolic organisation
A great combination of days out, covering a wide range and all of great interest. There was plenty of free time each day, and the tour manager was exemplary. Highly recommended.
Interesting itinerary but accommodation was poor.
I have already sent a completed survey. Experience was negative mainly due to substandard hotel. Cold meals ,cold room etc.
A well organised holiday with an excellent range of trips out. The hotel was an excellent base.
A good mixture of trips. The tour of Durham requires a degree of mobility.
We were given a suite with lounge, separate bedroom and new walk in shower. Staff friendly and helpful. Food was good and pkentiful
The tour, Tour Manager (Debbie) and accommodation were great, however the evening meals were not the best, if you enjoy Brake Brothers produce then it is for you! As to the tour, possibly too much time in Durham, not enough in Beamish and perhaps introductory talks at Beamish and Locomotion would have enhanced the trips. Wensleydale Creamery was excellent. (You must try the battered cheese at the local 'chippy'!) Hexham Abbey's guided tour even to a non believer was informative and rewarding. All in all recommended, hopefully Great Rail will encourage Walworth Castle to up the quality of their evening meals.
Dinners and staff at Wentworth Castle Hotel were great. Would have liked to stay longer in Durham.

We both thought the tour guide Kate was the best we had ever had on our tours. Durham countryside is stunning and our coach driver was great. Walworth Castle and grounds were lovely but we were not always so happy with the meals. They didn't take on board sometimes on what we had chosen even though we had filled in a form the previous night with our choice., but overall it was a lovely stay.

A very good and interesting mix of excursions which matched many on my wish list

Lovely hotel and scenery although evening meal food was a bit hit and miss but overall ok. Our twin room was comfortable. Good trips to Durham, Beamish, Wensleydale but I felt the last day trip to Hexham needn’t have involved the train journeys. We could have gone by coach which would have involved less messing about and more time at the venues. Our holiday guide was very good.

Accommodation and staff excellent but the bar areas lack cohesion and the tv area has only one sofa and four armchairs, which is insufficient for the number of guests

Excellent Hotel,Excellent staff, Excellent Food.
Very small double room at Walworth Castle
My room at the hotel was disappointing, very cramped. Breakfast was excellent, evening meal not always so great, although the portions were always generous. The visit to Durham was good, the guide we had for the walking tour was excellent. Our Tour Manager was outstanding, no detail too small for her to attend to. Overall a good holiday, the visit to Chesters being my least favourite.
Interesting part of the country
