The onboarding process was great!

Matt was really thoughtful and helpful in understanding my business and how to create the plan of action.

I had the most awful experience ever with Growth Tools. I signed up for business coaching in Apr 2023 for $15K. Their 100% guarantee was that I would make my $15K back or I would get a full refund, & that I could be making $100K per year within 6 months, working 10-13 hr/wk. As of Sep 2023 (after working WAY more than 13 hr/wk), I had increased my email list by ~10 people, made $0, & booked only 1 sales call. The Terms of Service I had signed says: “You’ll get a full refund..., plus we will reimburse up to $1K when you hire another coach…As long as you do your work, you cannot lose money working with us.” They also say: “If we look over your body of work and deem you busted your butt and gave it an honest effort, but missed the goal, we’ll refund you even if you don’t hit 800 action items or one of the other specific conditions above.” I requested a refund, believing I had met criteria for “doing my work” without making my money back, but was denied, because I had not completed the minimum in the contract of 20 action items per week. However, they did not provide me a copy of the contract to review before I signed up, so I was unaware when I signed up that that was a requirement (and also didn't know what 1 action item amounted to, in terms of energy and time). Furthermore, in my call with their salesperson, I told him upfront that I was finishing another job and would not be able to work full-out until mid-June. He told me this was fine and did not mention the fact that that could result in me losing eligibility for my refund. I did 5 wks of less than 20 action items a week from May until mid-June, but after that, I did 16 wks of 20-75 actions per week. However, they said that “5 wks of inconsistent action” can’t be repaired by “doing more action later”. I did an ADDITIONAL 2.5 months of coaching with their head coach, Michael Sharkey, and STILL made $0. So, if 5 weeks of inconsistent action cannot be repair with action later on, their salesperson should have advised me NOT to sign up for the program, or at least warned me that I would not be eligible for the refund. I did a LOT of work for this program and still made $0, and they did NOT honor their guarantee. Over the time I worked with them, these are the actions I completed:
Contacted 260 people for Founder’s calls;
Held 87 Founder’s calls;
Pitched offer to 28 best-fit people;
Sent 134 partner pitches (& follow-ups);
Executed: 11 podcasts, 4 IG lives, 3 online workshops, 10 LM swaps;
Emailed ~40 people on my email list to offer call;
Attended/watched a recording of 1 Hot Seat/wk while in original program;
Made/used 7-day welcome email sequence;
Made landing page;
Added a thank-you page;
Booked 7 sales calls (no sales, most were no-shows);
Did 7-day “Make You Cry” campaign,
All resulting in exactly $0.
Also, whenever I brought up my concern about my lack of progress with my coaches, they seemed to side-step it, telling me I was doing a “great job” on my assignments, and Michael Sharkey kept telling me “I can see that this is working for you,” - which was very confusing, considering that the vast majority of my partnerships had yielded 0-3 new email sign-ups. The quality of the coaching was very poor, because they basically just walked me through the steps of the program, told me I was “doing a great job” on each of my assignments (giving me minor tweaks, and sometimes flip flopping on how I should do something) and when the program wasn’t yielding results, just told me to “keep going”. My experience was devastating, because that was my entire savings, and now I have to go back to working a full-time job to pay my bills and I don’t have the time or energy to work on my business, which was my dream.

Matt did a wonderful job understanding my program and built an amazing offer.

As a solo business owner, I was constantly facing inconsistent revenue and the every few months question of 'can I keep doing this?'

Then I hired Growth University it was like rocket fule for my business! Their marketing plan + playbook + coaching system got me to stable and increased revenue almost immediately. By the end of month 2, I'd had my highest revenue month in company history, and this streak would keep on continuing month over month. I was either hitting new records or staying in the ballpark of the previous records.

Thanks to GU's system and coaching, I was able to purchase a house 7 months after starting -- something I couldn't possibly have imagined beforehand.

I stayed on as a customer for 3 full years, and have referred several people their way in the process. The only reason I didn't renew for year 4 was because my business hit some large, unexpected expenses (completely unrelated to GU) that required me to cut back on overall spending. Once I get to the other side of these expenses, one of my first orders of business will be to rehire GU.

As long as you're willing to put in the work, the system will work.

The onboarding and Revenue Roadmap experience with Chung and Matt was exceptional. They were so refreshingly calm, empathetic, and low key. Our conversations were patient, mutual, and tuned in. Unlike other coaching programs I've been in, there was nothing sales-y or high pressure about their approach. It was a wonderful experience working with two great people!

In my initial fact-finding call, it pulled so much information, I could already see the path that needed to be taken. All they had to do was create the plan for me. It is on its way and I am looking forward to the results.!

Both Matt and Chung took great care of me. Were very succinct and clear. They were wonderful to work with. Matt was really transparent, and never missed a deadline. Was really kind when he had to ping me when emails would get lost.

**Before You Sign Up or Pay in Full, Read This Review**

As a therapist in Canada, I wanted to grow my business online and thought I had found the right program. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a big disappointment. I didn't check the reviews on the BBB in the U.S., where there are already complaints about their approach.

They asked for a $10,000 tuition fee for their university, but their coaches lack understanding of the importance of trust between a coach and a client. The refund policy is invalid, you will not get a refund even if you disagree with their approach, which relies heavily on relentless email marketing. The fee primarily funds their software and group cohort sessions, regardless of your time zone compatibility.

Communicating your struggles to them is futile—they won't listen because they just want your money and see you as a their high-ticket client. They often say that the client is responsible for their own success. Sounds reasonable, right? Wrong. They take no responsibility for your outcomes, whether you succeed or fail but they got your money already.

Please don't sign any contract with them, as they have every way to place the blame on you.

I feel so supported! I'm a new entrepreneur, making a mid-life choice to follow my heart's passion and feel like a little fish swimming in a vast ocean. I've got a whale of a team on my side helping me navigate the waters and am so excited for the journey ahead! Thanks Matt and Growth Tools Team!

Matt did an incredible job of getting to know my business in a relatively short conversation, and then produced a Marketing Plan, Client Avatar and Offer that was 99% spot on. It required very little work to make it perfect. I have started working with my coach on implementation, and I have high confidence that it will produce the results I expect.

The Growth Tools team was interested in my business and what I needed to grow as an entrepreneur and as a business. By asking questions and collaborating, the team was able to produce a strategy and marketing plan that got me started on the right foot. While we had to take a 90 degree turn, the information that previously provided help me take on a project that would not have been in my wheelhouse previously. This program is very disappointing. There is zero tech support while using. I have tried to join hot seats and tech issues on GT part and left comments, contacted coach, and not one person commented or reached out. My coach did hours after. You have to reach out to a coach for any issue and they understandably can't drop everything so if you are having issues - you are out of luck. The videos are cringy to watch and not professional. The templates are basic and you could google or use chat got. For the price, I’m so disappointed. In the videos, many speakers talk down like you have no knowledge. I see them "selling" the program but I have been following the program and see NO Value. I’m actually frustrated as I have lost time and money. I have written lots of reviews. This is my first 1 star. I wish I could provide positive feedback. But I can’t. I've shared with my coach about bugs I've found, questions and I'm told that the developers aren't interested in making changes. You are better off getting a business coach or buying a program from Amy Porterfield, Jasmine Starr. My individual coach is great - that’s the highlight - but the platform is NOT user friendly or effective and I find they are not interested in making enhancements. Like I mentioned I haven’t learned one new or innovative idea since using. Lots of busy work. If you have any marketing experience - find a better platform.

The people I worked with were wonderful people. The plan they put together for me at the beginning was a great start and gave me the clarity I needed to further shape my product package into a great offer. The marketing plan, unfortunately, wasn't what I expected and was not a fit. I wasn't looking for sales call strategies as much as a marketing system to bring highly qualified leads to me. That was where the sales guy and I got our wires crossed.

The 90 day marketing plan is front loaded with warm emails and messages to set up sales calls, and setting up podcasts, neither of which fit a high-value B2B offer like I have. I followed the program, sent thousands of emails and LI messages and set up as many sales calls ("discovery calls") as I could, but was unsuccessful. I was already good at getting on podcasts, but got a little better from what I learned. In spite of being on dozens of podcasts (some top 2%) and using all the tricks taught, I got nothing.

The salesperson told me the program would only take about 5 hours a week. That seemed rather ridiculous, but I was already committed to full time, so I didn't worry about it. The reality is, there is absolutely no physical way to get through the program in 90 days even full time. It's essentially an extremely detailed online program that can become both tedious and extremely time consuming. You also have to be quite adept at various marketing tools and have some artistic talent to accomplish everything. Having said that, I did find some great tips and strategies embedded in the program that were useful for executing the plan. They just weren't that helpful for me.

My coach was highly positive and encouraging. However, it became clear early on that my business was not a fit and if I were to succeed, I would need a coach with expertise closely aligned to my kind of B2B business. At the end, I was able to work with someone very briefly who I think could have been a great asset helping me course correct if we had started working together much earlier.

I spent $12,000 and about 8 months of work and got zero sales from the program before giving it up. I would have quit earlier, but I was told by my coach that if I quit I would lose access to everything online. That turned out not to be the case and I made the poor decision to spend several thousand additional dollars before ending the relationship. The guarantee didn't kick in because you have to complete everything in 90 days to qualify—an impossible task. You also fly blind in that you never fully see the whole plan. It is only revealed as you go, so you don't know that you are nowhere close to finishing when the 90 days ends.

In summary, the plan was very useful for helping me redefine my product offer for which I am very grateful. I think the sales approaches better fit B2C or lower dollar B2B situations. Sales/discovery call and email campaign approaches all use fairly traditional sales techniques that can be found elsewhere for a lot less. I think having the right coach can be a huge benefit for the $1000 extra each month, but getting a good coach is fairly hit and miss. I liked the people and I think their system can work well for other markets. Their bold guarantee was a huge disappointment for me as I have made similar aggressive guarantees to my clients and made sure they never had to invoke the guarantee. I was expecting the same.
