Best CPD ever experienced

In the 20 years+ of teaching this is one of, if not the best, day of CPD I have experienced. Not a single second felt like it was wasted. Jemma was incredibly knowledgeable on all aspects of the exam and assessment in general. I have walked out of this session with my head filled with lots of ideas and cant wait to start implementing them into my classroom and sharing them with the rest of my department.

Great content

Great content
The sessions covered key content well and made it relevant and accessible for students. The afternoon session on the Drake question was particulary good to highlight key points and possible areas to focus revision.

Mixed bag

I recently attended a Geography A-Level revision session with a large cohort, and overall, it was a mixed experience. The session aimed to cover key content and concepts while providing insights into exam structures and strategies to attain marks effectively. Although it offered valuable insights, there were notable areas for improvement.

The session effectively delivered on its promise to cover essential content and concepts. Key topics were addressed, ensuring students gained a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter. Additionally, insights into exam structures and mark attainment strategies were provided, which undoubtedly benefitted attendees in their exam preparation.

However, the delivery of the session left something to be desired. While two of the speakers were engaging and insightful, one lacked enthusiasm, which detracted from the overall experience. A more dynamic and enthusiastic approach from all speakers could have enhanced engagement and retention among attendees.

Furthermore, the session could have been improved by incorporating interactive tasks and model answers. These elements would have facilitated active learning and provided concrete examples for students to emulate in their own revision. Additionally, breaking the session into shorter, more digestible segments could have helped maintain focus and prevent fatigue among attendees.

In conclusion, while the Geography A-Level revision session offered valuable insights and covered key content and concepts, there are areas for improvement in terms of delivery and format. Despite the shortcomings, attendees gained valuable knowledge and strategies for exam success. However, whether we would attend similar sessions in the future remains uncertain, as there is room for improvement in the overall experience.
