I’ve been really happy with my experience with Hairstory. The New Wash has honestly made a noticeable difference in how my hair feels. It’s much smoother and way less frizzy than before, and it just f... See more

Dysfunctional customer service
I used the quiz on their website to decide what formulation of Hairstory to use, they also recommended a kit combining the shower brush, balm and texturising spray. I had quite good results initially but that didn’t last long despite following the instructions closely.
I received an email asking about my experience from what appeared to be a named customer service representative and replied because I thought it would be good to get individual advice
Unfortunately on replying I got what appeared to be a template response, parroting the advice and questions available on the website, almost verbatim.
I replied that I thought a template response was unhelpful only to receive this
“ I think I'm confused. You say the tips are helpful, but you are not happy because I didn't take the time to write out a bespoke email for all 100+ questions I get every day and rather mix and match various pre-written responses to help each person?”
I’ve asked several times for a response to this very rude response (including the press office) but nothing.....
If you’re game to take a risk on spending £120 on products that do nothing for you and receiving nonsensical template based responses then go for it!
I'm pretty sure this stuff is a scam
I'm pretty sure this stuff is a giant marketing scam, and unfortunately I fell for it. First of all, $40 for a tiny amount of product is a real kick in the teeth. Secondly, it stinks of citronella candles. (Maybe I'll save it for mosquito season?) Finally, as the stupidly-designed bag gets less and less bottom heavy, it's more likely to tip over. Mine tipped over into a bin we keep next to the tub and all the remaining product drained out. So I went back to the product website to leave a review, and I'm not able to "create an account" in order to leave a review. Soooo scammy!
Do not buy. Do not buy. Do not buy!
The product is convincing
The product is convincing, but the price is far too high.
What can I say.. it works!
What can I say... it works! I put off trying this for so long because I felt it was a lot of money to invest in something that I might have to give away after a couple washes.
But I’ve been using it for a week now and I absolutely love it. It hasn’t (yet) made my scalp less oily - despite using hairstory deep - but it absolutely solves the problem of balancing between shampoo and conditioner. Before I would find my hair was often either over-shampooed, meaning it was dry and prone to breakage, or over-conditioned and weighed down. Now my hair is perfectly cleaned and conditioned after every wash - I keep running my hands through it and feeling how healthy it is. One thing to note is that I realised after the first couple washes that I wasn’t rinsing it all out (you have to really get your fingers in there and massage your scalp to rinse it out) so that was an initial teething problem but now I’ve got the hang of that.
I also bought the brush, which I found helpful the first few washes, but to be honest you could also just use your fingers - I’m not sure I would have spent the £11 now that I’ve got the hang of the technique.
Not for me
I have oily roots and bleach damaged fine, straight/frizzy hair. I also have been doing keratin treatments for a long time so I only use sulfate-free shampoos. I tried New Wash Deep and loved the scent and the feel of the product. Immediately after wash and with heat styling my hair looks bouncy and happy but the next day it goes very flat and the roots get greasy...I tried the massage brush, hot water, rinsing much longer - same result. Stuck with it for 3 months and went through a lot of £££ because I really wanted it to work. I also tried their dry shampoo that wasn't effective for me and the pomade that made my hair look super oily. I think the products are very overpriced.
Love or Hate
From the reviews it seems like people either love this or hate it, and I’m in the camp of love it. I got the Rich Hairstory starter pack, with the brush, and hair balm. I have curly/wavy hair, kind of fine, but usually frizzy and a huge puff if I even touch it after the first comb after the shower. My hair feels great, and I also love the way it feels. My hair isn’t oily at all, it looks v clean, and when I blow dry and straighten I don’t think I have ever seen it shinier. I will say I still use other products. I switch between Hairstory and an Apple Cider Vinegar hair rinse from dpHUE, which I also love! You maybe able to use just one of these, but I like using the hair rinse once in awhile because I also think it helps with my itchy scalp. I’ve also been using these products on my daughters’ hair, both with very different hair types(one is very fine and curly and the other is very thick and straight) and their hair also looks great!
Hairstory has a superior product
Hairstory has a superior product . New Wash has a high quality approach to taking care of the scalp and still carrying light, lustrous hair.
I love the product
I love the product
The fact that there are no sulfates therefore no suds is great. My hair always feels very clean even when it’s wet and I don’t have to wash my hair everyday.
Worked for me but...
It took about three shampoos for my hair to adjust to New Wash, but after that, it worked well for me. It reduced shedding and was moisturizing for my dry hair. However, as other reviewers have mentioned, it is expensive, and I used a lot of product each time. It’s oily and quickly dirties a fiberglass shower. Plus, I wanted something plastic free. The bags are manufactured using less plastic than bottles, but I can’t recycle plastic bags in my area, so that’s moot. This combination of factors ended up being a dealbreaker for me.
Terrible product
I really wanted to like this and I tried hard for the 3 weeks, but it was terrible. It left my hair in a waxy coating no matter how much I rinsed it. I bought the brush too, nothing helped. It just got worse and worse. Buying this was a very expensive mistake.
...now really annoyed
...now really annoyed. I gave Hairstory a really good, honest 5 star review on this site. Then they emailed me, basically asking me to rewrite my actual review, with more of their words and the specific points they wanted to make. I liked the product but they have a really rubbish way of communicating with customers!
Expensive mistake
Looking at reviews,it works for some people. It doesn't work for me. My hair became greasy looking like I jitsu don't wash them at all. Felt like it was a scam for that kind of money.

Changed my hair
I went backwards and forwards because of the price BUT its literally changed my hair from falling out and unhappy to full of body and shinny ... no turning back now .. so pleased after 6 months
I love hair story
I love hair story! My hair is much happier with New Wash, and there is no looking back! I love the way my hair feels and looks after I use it, and the smell is delightful. The dry shampoo is also my fav, and it lasts forever!
Freeing and sexy!
I have thick hair at the back, thinner at the front, starting to grey, mostly straight, and a sensitive scalp. I watched so many videos online of people washing their hair with hairstory and I really wanted to try it out. I love that it’s not super lathery, but not everyone enjoys that. The smell is divine and so relaxing. It feels like you are doing something good for your self when you massage it into your scalp. I’ve had a very positive reaction to the shampoo. My scalp is better and my hair isn’t so static and fluffy. It lays down and even enjoys curling on occasion. I also use the hair balm and the undressed and love them both for styling. My hair never feels weighed down or sticky like with other products. Very freeing and sexy as all get out!
Waste of Money
I am very disappointed (Unfortunately).
I am using New Wash Deep for 3 months now and my hair became drab, lacking sheen entirely, and a scalp + upper part is just greasy.
I even bought their brush to clean it properly as i thought I am doing something wrong- but no matter how long, how much or how many times of New Wash I use - the result is always the same.
Greasy without shine hair. The effect is pretty much the same like after being entire day on the beach and at the end of the day you feel your hair are dirty and you just have the need to wash them.
After using New Wash i also apply dry shampoo to get rid of greasy effect- doesn't make sense.
Won't buy it again!

I love this product
I love this product. I use New Story Rich. To use it, I wet my hair first, just under the tap. Add the product, go make a coffee, and 10 minutes later have a shower and wash out. It was no harder to wash out than any hair mask I've used and my hair has never been softer.
I used hair story for over a year
I used hair story for over a year. At first I liked it, but over time it left my hair limp and lifeless. No matter how hard I scrubbed there seemed to be product left in my hair. I even bought their scrub brush to help...it did not. I just bought some aveda shampoo and conditioner and my hair is so soft and fluffy again. Peace out hair story and good riddance!

I’m a Convert
I was not a believer in no-suds shampooing, but New Wash totally converted me and now I will use nothing else. My hair is in the best shape it’s been in decades. I’m buying my daughter a subscription as a Christmas present.
I love New Wash Rich
I love New Wash Rich. My hair feels like hair again, not like knotted threads of straw as it did with all other, very expensive brands of shampoo & conditioner. There is an extra bonus that Hairstory doesn't promote - a scalp massage each and every time you shampoo. In order to work the New Wash Rich into my hair, I give myself a thorough scalp massage with my fingernails and with a strong, wide-tooth comb, then repeat when I rinse it out. My hair feels so healthy and is growing faster than it ever has! For the first time in memory, there isn't any hair in the comb.
