We collected our new car from them this morning, not clean on outside after a few reminders it was hastily wiped on the outside, still not all clean on outside and inside there were cobwebs by passenger door dirty marks at back of drivers and passenger seats, this car was a lot of money and at least should be clean when we collected it!!
My wife and I just endured a nightmare experience with Hammond Cars Norwich that cost us 7 hours of travelling and £446.16 in wasted travel fares, all due to completely untrustworthy and unprofessional staff and misleading descriptions.
I was looking at a vehicle priced at £15,500. The salesperson, Curtis, told me on Thursday 30th May to wait until Saturday for him to get back to me with a finalized price after asking for a small discount. Instead of calling back, he ignored my calls all day. When I finally got through to his colleague, Ethan, I was told the price had been increased by market data they have no control over up by £200 to £15,700. This forced me into a position where I had to pay a £500 deposit just to lock it in, out of fear of further price manipulation.
Because I have a severe back condition and was travelling 3.5 hours each way, I explicitly asked multiple times for a video and absolute confirmation that the car was in perfect condition. I was assured it was.
When we arrived, the car was a total mess and arguably unsafe. It had:
A front passenger tyre which was badly bald and concern of mechanical issue and safety.
An active, heavily bubbling inverter coolant system fault under the bonnet.
A broken rear passenger window that wouldn't operate.
A mo working air conditioning system.
A large unadvertised dent in the driver's door and loose external pannel trim.
When confronted with these issues, Curtis’s exact words to me were: "I don't check the cars, I just sell them." This is an appalling admission of incompetence from an established dealer.
When I complained to the General Manager, he hid behind a defensive corporate wall, claiming their mechanic checked it the next day and "everything was fine"—completely contradicting what we saw with our own eyes on the forecourt on the day and also havingba refund of deposit slip clearly stating all these reason above and having video and picture evidence provided to management still nonone thought it would be good to look into this.
They flatly refused to reimburse a single penny of our travel expenses, despite their staff explicitly misleading us into making the journey.
Thankfully, I received the return of my £500 deposit, but I am still massively out of pocket for the travel and wasted time. Buyers beware: do not trust their word, do not trust their "mint condition" promises, or 5 star reviews and do not travel any distance to buy from Hammond Cars. Completely unprofessional and deceitful. This was the most worst experience i have every experienced and it seems like the place is run by people who dont understand or care about their jobs and roles and confidential mislead honest people who have saved their hard earnings to be mislead into spending on a company who has no regards to looking into or correcting a massive issue like this which prevented a resolution or sale.
PLEASE BE AWARE AND BUY FROM A MAIN DEALER INSTEAD AS THIS PLACE IS VERY VERY POORLY RUN AND ARE HAPPY TO SELL YOU SOMETHING THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT OR HAVE CHECKED OVER IT SEEMED.
STAY SAFE AND STAY FAR AWAY
Daniel Grandao made buying this car so very pleasurable and enjoyable and he did everything to help us. - He was so helpful and knowledgeable and he made buying our car a pleasure.
Thank you.
Good service, easy transaction, good price for trade in :)
Luke was especially helpful with the viewing and test drive of the car.
Absolute warning to all buyers: Untrustworthy pricing, unprofessional, terrible vehicle prep and checks

Daniel was fantastic, best experience I have ever had at a car dealership. No pushy add ons. Thank you.
I took 2 cars for a test drive having picked them out from the website information. I bought one of those on the day. Daniel supported me through everything so I could drive away the same day, all very quickly done, but I was not rushed on my test drives or decision.
I bought one of them. They hid the defects in the car. Poor customer service. No cooperation, avoidance of responsibility. Avoid! Avoid! Avoid!
We were expecting a professional dealer site with showrooms, sales and service bays etc. But it's basically a large portacabin surrounded by hundreds of used cars. We were about 90 minutes from the Norwich site and I had phoned the day before as we wanted to drive the vehicle away if the condition was good enough. When we got there the price had gone up another £100 from the previous day, but with negotiation we managed to get it to the previous price. I get the impression that Hammonds probably buy their vehicles from auctions and don't really prep the vehicles much before sale. They are cheaper but then you'll still have alloy wheel scuffs and the odd stone chips etc. Our vehicle drove well (apart from a slightly deflated tyre) and we took it there and then. It didn't have the MOT certificate though we could confirm it had passed on the government site. So far all is well and hopefully the 30 day warranty will be long enough to see if there are any serious faults.
Lucy and gents were a pleasure to meet and very helpful.
Car was as advertised so all really good.
Great Customer service.
Paul was helpful and patient explaining all the final paperwork.
The car was what I was looking for and the prices do drop/increase day to day so keep an eye out.
Purchased car 7/6/26, already has a fault, trying to speak to someone as car still under warranty is a nightmare!
THE CAR IS LOVELY AND HAPPY WITH IT. (BUT)
I travelled 375 miles from Glasgow to Norwich to buy a car from Hammond Cars. Shortly after purchase, I discovered the vehicle's Service B was actually overdue by 143 days. I genuinely misunderstood the dashboard message and initially thought the service was due in 143 days.
THE VEHICLE ADVERT DID NOT CLEARLY STATE THAT THE SERVICE WAS ALREADY OVERDUE, I travelled with confidence and buy the car.
I ended up having to pay for the service myself while still within the 30-day warranty period. When I contacted Hammond Cars to ask if they could offer any help or goodwill contribution towards the cost, I was simply told there was nothing they could do because I had signed the paperwork.
Very disappointed with the lack of customer service and after-sales support. After travelling such a long distance to purchase the vehicle, I expected a more helpful and understanding response. Unfortunately, my experience has left me feeling that customer care ends once the sale is completed.
Welcomed from the moment stepped on to forecourt. Left to wander at our own pace and when ready, to come into the office. All staff that weren’t with customers said hi.
Asked if wanted a drink and to take a seat. Very helpful in the questions we asked about the car. Gave us a test drive and then left us to play around with the car and to make sure we were happy before proceeding.
Kurtis absolutely polite and professional on the both days we visited. Nothing too much for him and definitely not pushy like other salesman.
Thank you
Great experience with buying a car from Hammond Cars, purchased a puma today, Jayden helped me with the whole process which was smooth and easy, definitely recommend using this car sales!
I am a repeat customer and I absolutely love the customer service here. From beginning to end, I am always looked after and kept fully informed throughout the entire process. Everything is made simple and stress-free.
A huge shout-out to Paul (aka Stan), who was absolutely excellent. The whole team went above and beyond to make the experience enjoyable and straightforward.
Thank you, Hammonds. I am now driving my dream car, and you made the whole journey easy for me.
Highly recommended! 😊
Outstanding customer services Chris was brilliant and Alfie was exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble and talked us through the car. We spent all morning going through the car and taking the car for a test drive. Would highly recommend.
Over the moon with Hammonds, Darnell who dealt with us could not have been more friendly and helpful. The car I bought unfortunately had a slow puncture but went back next day and all was sorted without any problems, I shall be buying my next used car from Hammonds for sure. Huge thnx guys
Martin
All the members of staff that myself and my Dad saw were extremely helpful. Peter, Ollie , and any others as can't remember all the names.
All the questions raised about the car that we were interested in were answered well with clear and concise information.
Service from start to finish was excellent. Always patient and listened to our needs.
Would certainly recommend Hammonds Cars to others looking for a car to buy.
