Avoid at all costs

Avoid at all costs, HL promise the world but only deliver, at best, a very average service. I would strongly recommend reviewing and challenging your Rateable Value yourself. Multiple internal contacts, but absolutely no continuity which delays the whole process - the final document submitted by HL was handwritten and only contained information that I had already provided - no added . They do not respond to complaints, even when pushed the MD refuses to speak directly with customers - the only part of the process they seem genuinely interested in is fee payment and work closely with a Debt recovery team rather than addressing any complaints directly

Russell,

Your narrative on the chain of events is woefully inaccurate, and insulting. Your businesses property revceived a reduction in rateable value of £39,000, back dated to 1st April 2017, which will remain in place until 31st March 2023.

As you are aware, communication was a little fragmented at the begining of the process as the UK went into the first coronavirus lockdown - which admitedly did mean that the chain of communication we normally provide was a little disrupted. Once your case was assigned to a negotiator, they were the only point of contact during the appeal itself.

The reduction was then applied and you refused to settle our commission invoice, so after the appropriate length of time, we escalated the matter to a third party collection agent, who I understand have collected the monies owed to us this morning.

Furthermore, you and I have spoken on numerous occassions regarding your 'complaints' which were always focussed around the fact that you owed the company money.

As I have said to everyone who has left a review on this platform, I am always happy to discuss any issues regarding the operational service received from the Company. Things were no different in your case, but the fact remains that your concerns were almost exclusively attached to settling an invoice.

Kind regards, Chris Goodhand

DO NOT TRUST THEM.

DO NOT TRUST THEM.

I received an e-mail, via a third party, stating that I was a client of theirs ( by reference to my home address) and they had saved me thousands. I had never heard of them.

I have reported them to trading standards. I cannot see that they are regulated.

Emma, thanks for taking the time to leave a review which relates to the issue that we have discussed by telephone and email - in which I explained that I was sorry for the possible ambiguity and confirmed that we had arranged for the same to be altered.

Once again, I am sorry for any upset or inconvenience that has occurred.

Relentless spam emails!

I have never dealt with this company or even heard of them until I started receiving unsolicited emails from them. I have now unsubscribed from their list four times yet the emails keep coming! Interestingly, when you go onto their website, which I did in order to try to contact them direct to ask them to take me off their list, the only way of contacting them is via a form (which I did not complete), in which you are asking them for a free assessment of your company. Even if I had need of such service, I would not use these people as they added me to a mailing list without my consent (or even my knowledge) and are not readily contactable via their own website. Incidentally, it's amusing that they feel so strongly that they can reduce my business rates as any check of the premises we occupy for business will show that they qualify for small business rate relief. I'm not sure how Hampton Lovett could reduce a payment of £0.00 per annum!

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience or upset that has occured. If you would be kind enough to send an email to chris@hampton-lovett.co.uk I will discuss this matter with the relevant parties and ensure that no further communication is sent to you.

As for your business premises being exempt from Business Rates, I am unable to comment. I can only assume that there was an indication that multiple properties were occupied and that the combined valuation was either over £12,000 or that one of the premises had a rateable value of more than £2900 (assuming your premises are in England).

Once again, our apologies.

Kind Regards, Chris Goodhand

The help we needed throughout this Pandemic

Hampton Lovett Surveyors have been a great help to our business, especially throughout the Pandemic. After months of letters to and forth to our local council, we were refused any grants or reliefs in respect of our business rates. The holiday payments were slowly catching up and we were in financial trouble.
We used Hampton Lovett Surveyors to appeal our valuation on our property and they have worked hard with us and helped to reduce our business rates on one of our floors by 100%!
The communication has been clear and concise throughout and, Sarah and Louisa have been very helpful in answering all questions, being flexible and understanding our business needs.
Would definitely recommend their service. A++

All I have from Hampton Lovett is a barage of unsolicited, unwanted, irrelevant emails.

For months I have been receiving unsolicited emails from a range of Hampton Lovett domains for a company on an unrelated domain.
I am sick of the emails, and this shows, in my opinion, poor practice to persist in hounding me with these emails.
As a result, I wouldn't use Hampton Lovett - even if I needed their type of skills.
I now see Hampton Lovett are objecting to an honest - but critical review!
So, maybe they would like to check their records of contacting people without their consent - including on 27/10, 29/10, 2/11, 5/11 (twice so far). So, yes this can be shown to be genuine. Maybe check your records before accusing me of not writing a genuine review.
As if further evidence were needed, today, yet more SPAM from "Philip Blake". Rather than waste my time responding to your objections to a genuine, and verifiable review, why not stop sending unsolicited emails?
One email mentioned my home address, home council, and I quote "I am a specialist Rating Surveyor based in the [xxxxx] area and have recently secured a substantial reduction in the Rateable Value for a client that has a comparable property to yours located at [xxxx]. This has resulted in our client saving in excess of £10,000 per year In Business Rates and receiving 4 years backdated payments totalling more than £40,000 back into their cashflow." (I obscured confidential details).
I resent the spam, I resent them having intrusive personal details about me - which feels stalker-ish to me, and the fact they use multiple email addresses, not all of which are from a common domain are all very dubious.
And to reinforce the failure of HL to deal with SPAM - which they have been told to stop - yet another SPAM message from an address ending in "easybusinessrates.co.uk".
HL STOP SENDING SPAM.
As you seem intent on your harassment by sending another email today despite my insistence this stops, my next step will be to take legal action and recover the costs for this overt harassment - which a professional business would NOT be persisting with.
STOP THE SPAM OR have the costs of the harassment charges.
BTW, this IS harassment. So stop it.
Also, kindly under GDPR provide me with the source of the data you use to harass me.
You say I haven't provided you with information to allow you to stop the harassment - but I have - I can demonstrate I have provided lots of information - therefore, you COULD act, but are choosing NOT to - so this is harassment.
Cease, or I will be seeking compensation.
OK, so as you seem to wish to break the law by refusing to provide information in a GDPR request, but have sent me more SPAM today, this is now harassment, and I will be seeking compensation as you have refused to desist.
For maybe a month after insisting the SPAM ceases, I am still receiving this annoying drivel.
They have refused to provide me with the data required under law.
Compensation is now overdue.
AVOID THIS COMPANY LIKE THE PLAGUE - OR COVID!
More SPAM today - and the instruction to provide me with the details of your source of the data for your SPAM has been ignored despite being required by law under GDPR.
You know my email address, as you have sent me the SPAM. Kindly provide me with the details of the source of your SPAM data, and we can discuss compensation for your harassment.
Still the SPAM continues, yet HL still refuse to desist and have ignored the LEGAL REQUIREMENT to provide the source of my details.
Obviously, the level of compensation now has increased.
c. 1 week on, and HL are still sending SPAM - with different emails and still have ignored the legal requirement to provide the source of the data so this may be stopped at source.
Perhaps litigation would be preferred by HL? OR STOP SENDING THE SPAM
HL are still sending SPAM after months of instructions to desist and have still failed to provide the source of their details.
Now using different email addresses - presumably to make it harder to block. Incredibly unprofessional.

John, I am sorry that you are receiving emails which you feel are of no relevance to you.

Obviously, we do not wish to inconvenience you further. Please can you provide me with your email address by emailing me directly on chris@hampton-lovett.co.uk and I will add your details to the supression file, which will ensure that you are excluded from any future communications.

I strongly refute your claim that we are harassing you. I appreciate that you are finding the emails frustrating and I will happily do anything I reasonably can to stop them being sent to you. However, with nothing to go on other than the name John it is unreasonable to expect us to be able to identify you.

As previously stated, if you contact me directly I will happily have your details removed from the mailing list. Your most recent requests asks us to provide you with information, and if we were able to communicate with you in private we would happily provide the information.

John, please contact me with your details so I can have your address added to the suppression list or simply click the 'unsubscribe' link in the email. I really want to stop this for you, as you clearly have strong feelings over this.

Reference your SAR under GDPR regulations, I am more than happy to arrange this via the agency platforms who process our data but I am unable to do this with the information provided.

You say that you have provided information, but I have received no email from you and the Trustpilot request for information says you did not respond to it. Without any information other than a first name it is reasonable to suggest that the request is You can only refuse to provide the information if an exemption or restriction applies, or if the request is "manifestly unfounded or excessive" and in accordance with the ICO's guidance any refusal to provide information is justified.

To clarify, however, there is no refusal. - moreover is simply impossible to identify you amongst the dataset we use and provide you with your information and how you are included therein. My apologies for any upset remain offered to you.

Kind regards,

Chris Goodhand

I looked to Hampton Lovett to appeal my rates on a pub back in September. After the initial appointment it took 3 attempts for a surveyor to turn up to the arranged appointment. Submitting the appeal them took them ages, and only got done after I had contacted them many many times. Now in Lockdown and no one bothering to return my calls or emails. I was advised I would have a very strong case to receive rebate on the rates. I could really do with the money now. Dont know where to turn to next to get this sorted. Thankfully this review has prompted communications. I will re assess my review when the appeal is complete. The appeal is now going through, and I have received some attention from Chris & Alex. Fingers crossed.

Thank you for taking the time to make us aware of your concerns.

I note that we have spoken with you this morning and explained that the Check stage of the appeal is complete (having been submited on 30th January 2020 and concluded on 20th February 2020) and the case has been escalated to Challenge. The relevant submission will be made within the timeframe given by the VOA.

As discussed with our offices this morning, the grant is administered by the local authority and not the Valuation Office Agency (who are responsible for the administration of appeals).

I am sorry that the surveyor who was initially due to inspect your premises was unable to attend, but as explained to you previously this was due to ill health. I appreciate the inconvenience, but I am sure you can understand this was outside our control.

We will take steps to expedite your case, but with so many businesses facing similar difficulties in these unprecedented times due to the COVID-19 outbreak there is no certainty that any claims made on hardship would be processed more quickly with the VOA.

Kind Regards,
Chris Goodhand

I was approached by this company to look at levels of Rates i was paying for a building i own in Great Dunmow, looking at the poor rating on trust pilot i became worried and spoke with Chris Goodhand, who went through the process and the benifits to be gained, i found Chris to be truthful in his comments and very knowledable in his field.
Unfortunatly for me the costs were too high for the potential benifit, should the need arise in the future i will call Hampton Lovett for assistance. I hope potential customers find this review useful.

Save money on your rates no chance just throw away your money

Please if you are contacted by this company don't sign up for any work. Will convince you they can get you money back on your rates. They won't. you will do a far better job yourself and save yourself money and a lot of hassle as well.I am a genuinely disgruntled customer of this company who are trying their best to remove my honest and accurate description of the dreadful service I have received I have waited months to be told their is nothing they can do on my rates similar to many other stories if you read around the directors wouldn't talk to me they hid behind their customer service team. Don't sign any paperwork when they visit you.speak to the voa direct first.they didn't listen to any details I provided for my review and couldn't even file the review properly. They promised to sort it and didn't and then promised to sort it or refund and did neither I doubt ill ever see my money again but keep yours in your pocket.they recontacted me 4 times to sell their services when I was already a customer. Stay well clear. And in response to their willing ness to contact me as stated on there reply they have had several opportunities to resolve my complaints and have not done so when I have contacted only now when I tell you about them are they keen to talk I wonder why that might be next time take the time to sort your customers problems out. This is amendment number 5 to this review as this company continue to try to remove it so you cant see the atrocious service I have received. I continue to re move wording that they don't like so you can all still be pre warned to stay well clear

We have made several requests for information from the person who posted this review and have never received a response.

This is tremendously disappointing as it leaves us with now way of understanding what the actual issue is… the claim is that we can do nothing with the client's rates but without knowing who the client is it is impossible to give any constructive feedback or indeed understand whether the concerns stem from miscommunication or a shortfall in our processes.

The company takes feedback - both positive and negative - extremely seriously, and the absence of context in this review is frustrating as is means we cannot offer a reslution or learn from any potential issues.

Poor Communications

Whilst we had a good start and all work was carried out efficiently, contact with the company was not easy, not all emails were replied to, and messages left by phone were not always returned, we ended up having to pay more despite having been told originally that we would receive a discount on our current billing, which came to light only after we had paid the bill!

Chris, thank you so much for taking the time to post your comments. I am deeply concerned to note the challenges that you faced in terms of communicating with us, and I will be investigating how we can improve this for our clients in the future. We recognise that feedback such as yours is key when identifying how we can improve areas of the business where customer experience has not been to the standard expected.

In terms of the overall result, I am disappointed that after Hampton Lovett secured a reduction in the rateable value, from £120,000 to £112,000, that the Valuation Office Agency (VOA) have made an alteration to the valuation scheme applied to your property which has resulted in changes to the valuation for all properties within the scheme.

As discussed with you earlier today, we will be submitting a fresh proposal to the VOA with a view to correcting their freshly applied valuation, and we will keep you posted on the developments as we move through the process.
