Outstanding program to partner with on my transition journey
After spending almost two decades in one industry and at one company, I was successful and “comfortable” but felt that it was time to make a change and look for new challenges. I was an avid listener of the HYTC podcast and after about a year, I finally reached out to the HTYC team to start my career transition.
What I really enjoyed about the HTYC experience is the holistic view of the career transition and looking at the transition as both a personal and professional change. I started the career change journey with “an ideal” industry in mind but still had doubts about if I was going to be able to make that transition. The structured modules and exercises were helpful in giving me a systematic way to approach each step of the change. The career change can be a long process and what worked for me is going through each of the modules and going step-by-step. It was especially helpful for me to organize my time and goals.
The HTYC team is incredible, and they really are on this journey with you---from onboarding to my sessions with my coach to continued communication throughout the process. The onboarding process gives you an opportunity to express what you’re looking for, and you are given coach recommendations that best align with you and your goals. My coach kept me motivated, helped me fine-tune my messaging, and provided candid feedback and encouragement. She challenged me to step outside of my comfort zone while being my authentic self. I’m happy to report that I ended up transitioning into the exact industry that I was hoping to join from the beginning, and joined a company that I am very excited about. The skills and tools that we worked on are ones that I will bring to my next role and apply to my career going forward.

Rewarding experience
HTYC was a great experience and definitely worthwhile. The podcast is so engaging with inspiring stories of people who have taken the effort and made a meaningful change to their careers, and I found the HTYC coaching exactly all about that. Megan was so good to work with; warm, compassionate, with great prompts and challenges to think differently. Her support was invaluable going through the process and helped me to make a career shift in the right direction. Thanks Megan!

Great team with abundant knowledge to get you from where you are today to where you want to go next.
What was great about HTYC's career coaching experience to me personally was the combination of the digital course and the 1:1 coaching. I was able to learn the skills through the course and then my coach helped me think through the application of those skills and how they particularly related to my discovery and search process.

Great team!
The collective team at HTYC is fantastic. Throughout the process, I felt well-supported. Even in cases in which I need a course correction to maintain the path, it was handled with respect and from a sense of authentic compassion and commitment for the goals I outlined.
The framework, (documentation, videos and people) make it easy to succeed if you are willing to follow the process.

Happen To Your Career is INCREDIBLE
Happen To Your Career has been such an eye opening experience for me! I was feeling very stuck in my career & like I couldn't make new moves forward with a clear lens. After discovering the podcast, I right away knew I needed to connect with HTYC. My experience started off with Cindy, who is such a GEM. She gave me hope & helped me see my potential in our discussions. I'm really thankful for her initial guidance. She paired me with coach Jesse. When I started working with Jesse I was feeling uncertain & frazzled. Through coaching, Jesse helped me see how my skills from one career I had been in almost 20 years, could translate to SO many other career paths. Now I'm feeling confident, less anxious and approaching new career experiences with the bright light Jesse saw within me all along . I'd recommend Jesse as a coach to anyone and I'm so thankful I found Happen To Your Career this past year. The company & all their team members are incredible humans I am lucky to have met.
Putting Advice into Action
I had an opportunity to take some of the advice I received from Phillip as part of my coaching in the Fall of 2022 and put it into action. I actually got a call back from a job I interviewed for 2 months earlier and didn’t get. I guess I did really well in the interview and they put me on a shortlist for any future openings (which is often the case in the public sector). Since I had already interviewed, things were going to progress straight to the initial offer. To make sure I was ready, I consulted my ideal career profile and assessed my current working situation (which wasn’t great) to determine my salary range. Since public sector salaries are generally governed by policies and collective bargaining agreements, I anticipated that the initial offer would be quite low. In fact, it was $20,000 less than what I was making at my current gig! Since I was desperate to get out, I might have just went along with the initial offer, fearing that they might rescind the offer if I tried to negotiate to a higher salary. Thanks to my chats with Phillip and the modules recorded by Scott, I knew the importance of being honest with myself and what my bare minimum to shift jobs would be (despite my desperation!). Despite REALLY wanting out, I knew I'd also be miserable if I took this gig and was earning less in an inflationary economy!
By being intentional and planning ahead, I was able to establish a range that would allow me to get a bump in salary (even when factoring my performance raise at my previous job) without putting the recruiter off. I presented this to them in an honest and transparent way by letting them know where I was now in my current salary range and where they’ll need to be for me to accept the offer. In the end, they met me at the lower end of what I proposed. Nonetheless, by doing the work in advance, I was satisfied with the result because it satisfied two important criteria I established: getting out of my current job and getting a salary bump.
Having that knowledge from HTYC really gave me the confidence to approach this situation in a systematic way. Without it, I may have taken a significant pay cut out of desperation or compelled them to rescind the offer because my demands were too high. Salary negotiation is just a microcosm of what you’ll learn at HTYC! When you take the time to set parameters for your ‘ideal job’ (location, salary, commute times, etc.), the ‘overwhelm’ that can accompany these kinds of decisions is reduced significantly!

So glad I contacted HTYC when I did
So glad I contacted HTYC when I did. Phillip helped me out of one of the hardest periods of my life - I was struggling with burnout from a previous job and needed a new position, but one that wouldn’t leave me in the same position as I had been in. That’s a tricky situation to be in as I needed to do some self- and job- exploration, but was also under a time constraint to get a new job. Phillip helped to keep me motivated, encouraged, on-track and was empathetic and understanding of the struggles I was going through. Without his guidance and valuable job-search techniques, I wouldn’t have landed the job I’m in today. It’s VERY well suited to me, and I even received $8,000 more than my target salary (which was also $7,000 higher than my previous salary). It’s been 1 year in my new position and I’m happier than ever. Thank you Phillip!

HTYC has my unqualified endorsement
After a couple successful chapters in my career, I couldn't shake the thought of what else was out there. The thought of staying put was always overshadowed by whatever was next. Eventually, I put a stake in the ground by giving a 9 month notice without actually knowing what was next and, while trying to figure that out, I began Googling “how to make a career change” or something that that effect. I found HTYC's free 8-day mini course and after digging in and reflecting for more like a month, I realized if this team offered such a substantive resource for free, they were likely credible so I picked up the phone, had an initial conversation or two, and hired them. Great decision.
Again, I didn't know what was next but I was trying to dream big; I wanted a unicorn job - something that I wanted versus what others thought I should do. Something where my value came from whatever I naturally did better than most (no more trying to outwork everyone which only led to burnout), and I wanted to get paid well to do it. My coach (Phillip), Scott, and the rest of the team not only remained patient with me as I dreamed big and took my time to find the right fit, but they encouraged it and never let me settle.
To be honest, the journey took longer and was harder than expected. Part of that was due to COVID, but the biggest reasons were related to the time it took to reflect and discover what I naturally do better than most, how to pair that with what matters most to me, and even pivoting my search while I worked with HTYC and learned about different opportunities that are out there. Yes, it was a happy ending; I ultimately landed in a fantastic role that feels right for me at this time of my life, but HTYC helped me learn things about myself and my interests that will impact my future for years to come.
The last thing I want to say to anyone looking into HTYC is that authenticity matters greatly to me, and that’s what I found in Scott, Phillip, and every other teammate I came in contact with. This is a group of authentic and trustworthy individuals who genuinely care about making others happy by finding their way. They are great people who are great at what they do. I picked up on this in my initial conversations with Scott and Phillip, and became even more confident in them as time went on. They were with me every step of my journey and I can’t recommend them highly enough. I’m particularly grateful for the support that Scott & Phillip provided, the relationships we built, and the career and life coaching they provided. I’d be happy to hop on a call with anyone thinking about hiring this team. Just ask Scott to connect us.

Unlocking Career Fulfilment By Shifting Your Mindset
I have made more progress in the seven months of HTYC program than in the past five years.
I felt restless and desperate to discover what line of work I should be doing taking into consideration all of my credentials and experience. Everything I had attempted before HTYC did not leave me fulfilled or happy.
With the help of my coach Liz and a carefully crafted program of tests and exercises, sometime by session 6, I started to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I trusted the process and and at the end 3 things happened for me.
- For the first time I had a deep understanding that my ideal career is right in front of me.
- I asked and received the promotion in the field I was already in. (with the guidance of my coach)
- I dared to pursue my passion and overcame my fear of an imposter syndrome.
HTYC is like therapy but for your career. I highly recommend it to anyone who feels stuck, lost, restless at the idea of not knowing where they belong in the job market. Worth every penny.
If you are interested to listen to my story and the challenges I faced and overcame within the program, listen to the episode with me in HTYC podcast.
The episode is called-
"Unlocking Career Fulfillment By Shifting Your Mindset"
Coaching gave me the framework I needed!
I was young in my career but knew I wanted to make a change. HTYC taught gave me a great framework and coaching to navigate my career change but also taught me a lot of valuable skills I know I will continue to use as I grow in my new career. HTYC was both challenging and rewarding. If you find yourself feeling unfulfilled and doom-scrolling on job sites for new opportunities, consider HTYC's career change bootcamp and coaching to give you the tools you need to make a meaningful career switch!

If you are open to change, the HTYC team is very well equipped to help guide you towards a more fulfilling career path
I would highly recommend the HTYC experience. I was very impressed with how thorough the intake process was to ensure the right fit. I enjoyed the personality tests but it was working with a coach one on one that really helped me make significant progress in this journey. I worked with Liz, whose openness and thoughtfulness was very much appreciated. Liz challenged my preconceived notions and guided me to find other ways to look at my work situation. I did not quit my job or drastically change my career but I made enough important changes that allow me to enjoy my work much better today than I have for many years.

Getting Intentional
After spending 2 decades in and out of difficult and toxic work environments, I needed to get serious about making better decisions and finding more meaningful work for the next 2 decades of my career.
I knew I needed guidance because I had not been intentional about what I really wanted to do or getting clear about what that looked like. I came across the Happen to Your Career Podcast in my search for a career coach and loved their "whole life" approach to coaching. Because work is such an enormous part of our lives, it is important that it is as meaningful and purposeful as our family and downtime.
I went in knowing I not only needed to leave my current job, but leave the entire city I was living in. Working with my HTYC career coach, Ang made clear that I was living outside of my values in nearly every area of my life and that I could absolutely do something about it!
Since then I have been on a journey to intentionally design my life and continue to get clear on my vision. I have moved to a fabulous new city, halfway across the country and have an extremely fulfilling new job with the collaborative and creative team I longed for.
Every morning I wake up knowing that I am living my values in every area of life and I could not have gotten here without the guidance of the HTYC team.

Highly Recommended and Will Work With HTYC Again
I have worked with Scott and Phillip a couple of times through work transitions and have enjoyed the experience every time.
They know their stuff and do a great job helping you figure out your next steps whether it's negotiations or getting clarity on your future career path.
If/when I'm looking to negotiate for bigger/better job positions in the future, I will be reaching out to the HTYC team again for their help and expertise!
I have recommended HTYC to friends in the past and will continue too!

Best decision
10+ years into my career I found myself in a job that was terrible fit. It was so bad that I was crying at work almost every day. Even though I knew early on that it wan’t right, it was about a year before I decided to find a solution instead of just complaining about it. At first I tried to go it on my own through the traditional methods (searching through the career sites), but I wasn't getting results and I didn’t feel qualified for the job I really wanted.
I came across HTYC through the podcast. They worked with me to identify my strengths and how those show up for me (and work against me sometimes) and helped me define what my ideal work looked like.
In the end HTYC helped me not only be able to get the job I wanted (my ideal role) but also taught me how to negotiate for exactly what I wanted.
I would absolutely recommend HTYC coaching (and the the podcast) to anyone who wants to find their ideal work and keep themselves from settling! Going through the program has been one of the best decisions I’ve made.

HTYC was just what I was looking for
I got what I asked for working with HTYC! In the beginning, I was not sure if I was looking for a therapist or a career coach. Scott & the HTYC Team made the right recommendation to pair me with Liz. She is knowledgeable, communicative, inquisitive, compassionate and knows when to push me and how much. ;)
By working together, I have gained tremendous personal growth and improved my perspectives on my career. I may have wrapping up my coaching but this is not the end of my pursuit of career happiness, whether at my current work place or somewhere else. Regardless, I am now better equipped to pursue when the right opportunity comes along.
Thanks again to Liz & HTYC!!

Accountability, support, and great tools
Career coaching is largely what you make of it, but here's why HTYC worked for me.
The Intake Process: Phillip was very helpful with distilling my goals in coaching, determining which coach on the team was the right fit for me, and outlining the process and objectives I would reach in coaching.
Coaching Sessions: I worked with Jennifer, and she's great. An active listener, and made sure our sessions were customized to meet my goals and where I was at throughout the career search process. It was clear that each coach has the ability to tweak the program to their individual style and the client's needs. We didn't follow the Career Change Bootcamp program to a T, because I was seeking coaching for a long-term vision for my career, rather than an immediate job change. In working with Jennifer to articulate my career goals and needs, I was able to recognize when I was time to leave a job that wasn't serving me, and I did end up finding a new job 6 months after coaching started.
Online tools: For those who prefer more structure, the online modules for the Career Change bootcamp were helpful, with easy to follow videos and worksheets. I didn't use all of the tools, but many were helpful in the beginning. I especially liked working on identifying my Strengths.
The Podcast: obviously not required for purchase, but I loved listening to clients' stories, while going through my own journey.

Get a step-by-step approach to career ignition
This service is worth your time no matter how you interact with the team and where you are in your career search. I began connecting with HTYC through their podcast and eventually starting working with them as I needed guidance on career change. They took a seemingly mysterious, definitely scary journey and provided a guided approach to change, introspection and career ignition. Fast forward and I am in a brand new industry, am challenged, have endless opportunities for growth and making twice as much as I did in my previous job.
Highly recommend their coaching and podcast!
I'd listened to the Happen To Your Career podcast for several years before reaching out to Scott about getting career coaching. I'd been in my roll for nearly 10 years, wanted to stay, but felt like it was time to renegotiate. What I expected/hoped for was maybe a 10% raise MAX, as I was already near the top of my salary range for the area. Scott pushed me to ask for more, helped me feel confident I was worth that ask, and coached me through how that will probably go, what to say, when and how to say it, what not to say, etc.
I walked into my boss's office prepared and he knew it. As my request went higher up the chain, they knew it as well. My preparations and HTYC's great coaching paid off, in a few week's turn around time I was given a 20% raise, and renegotiated job duties which will help me enjoy my job even more!
I highly recommend both their podcast and coaching services, Scott and his team are the real deal!
