I had my BMW advertised on AutoTrader and on 07/11/2024 I was approached by a lady called "Mia" mobile number 07473612659 who technically scammed me by telling lies and to use Happier Cars instead to sell my car quicker and for better price.

I turned up to the showroom the next day where another gang member called CHARLES DEAN CAVENDISH opened the gates, took me inside, took pictures of the car, quoted me £200 refundable deposit for 1 month exclusivity.

Couple months later, car didn't sell so I asked them to take it off the market however the deposit was never returned after months of emails and calls.

Claire White from account team made promises many times for payment but no payments were ever made and always blamed the bank.

Long story short, they never had the intention to return the money they owed and told me yesterday that they have ceased trading as of 18/03/2025.

I believe there are many victims with much bigger financial damage. We need to get together and teach these CUN** a lesson that it is not okay the way they stole our hard earned cash where cost of living already making life challenging.

The company did the same to me. Promised to sell the car and pay off my finance. Sold the car in December and left me to pay monthly finance all these months. Chasing them didn’t help, they always made excuses.

I saw someone say to make an FB group and I completely agree. Maybe name it after them and put “Scam” after so we can all locate it. I’ll be searching this all day to see if I can locate you all.

I reported my vehicle stolen upon advice from the finance company. They said if it’s reported stolen to the police, at the minimum, I could get the vehicle back so I’m not paying for just absolutely nothing.

I would urge you all to report to the police and mention to them it’s happened to many other people who are also reporting it to the police. Hopefully this will show them they can investigate one thing and solve at least 20 different complaints.

Hopefully the Facebook group can be made and we can brainstorm more new ideas. Everyone please keep a level head, this is stressful for us all but we need to stay composed and think carefully on how to get our money or cars back.

These people owed my family over 20k for a car they sold, i had lawyers involved that got know where and in the end to get paid had to employ a debt collector cobra financial solutions who visited the debtor who bodycam footage all their visits, it ended up costing us a few grand but at least i got paid in the end.

The Happier Cars company has dissolved 05/11/2024.
The company registered at the address in Harlow who’s director is Charles Cavendish, is called Happier Finance Ltd registered at different company number.

Happier finance had no rights to sell my car as they are different company to the one I have a contract with.
I have reported them everywhere I could.

It’s all planned from beginning fraud, they nothing but thieves.

Please keep reporting them to the fraud department of the police.

This Company sold my son’s BMW and did not pay the Finance off. Now my son is paying off their debt!! I am sooo furious he’s a young lad working hard just to get ripped off by some scumbags!! I have been reading the comments here how many people have been scammed by these C****! if anyone does know the law how to take them to court please do count us in. Would highly appreciate it. Thieves - I put a deposit on a car but then backed out when I discovered undisclosed accident history. Despite endless promises to refund my money nothing ever arrived. I got a mail yesterday telling me they have now ceased trading. Absolutely shocking behaviour.

Avoid at All Costs – Unprofessional and Unreliable
I had an extremely disappointing experience with Happier Finance Limited (trading as Happier Cars), and I feel compelled to warn others about their practices.

Here’s what happened:

Initial Agreement: In early August 2024, I was contacted by Charles Dean Cavendish (director) from Happier Cars after they saw my car listed on Autotrader. They offered to sell my car for a fee of £1,000 + VAT, and I agreed. My car was sold on or around 10th October 2024, and I was promised payment within 14 days as per the contract.

Repeated Delays: Despite providing my bank details promptly, I faced months of delays and excuses, including:

Bank security checks.

Internal disorganisation and staffing issues.

Failed Promises: Over several months, I was repeatedly assured that payment was a priority, but no payment was made. They even promised payment by 17 March 2025, but this deadline passed without any funds being transferred.

Company Liquidation: On 18 March 2025, I was informed that Happier Cars had ceased trading and entered liquidation. My details were passed to the liquidators, and all staff were made redundant. I am now left as an unsecured creditor, with no guarantee of recovering the £17,000 still owed to me.

Scammers!traded my car 4 months ago and still no settlement finance paid they keep looking for excuses all the staff been instructed how to trick people and for the new buyer of the white touareg with 17 plate be mindful there is a big outstanding balance on that which hasn't been settled you risk to have your car repossesed so carefull!!!

Clearly a fraudulent operation. Luckily only paid a £250 deposit back in February. When we arrived to view the car it looked like someone had been sleeping in it. Repeated excuses for why they couldn’t refund the deposit including ‘we lost access to online banking’. E-mail received today saying they have gone bust…. No wonder second hand car dealers get the reputation they have. I feel sorry for other people on here who have lost a lot more….

I sold my car to Happier Cars on 23rd October 2024, with a signed agreement guaranteeing payment by 4th November 2024. It has now been 134 days, and I have still not received my money.

Initially, the company blamed “banking issues”, but despite countless follow-ups via email, WhatsApp, and even visiting their showroom in person, they have failed to fulfill their commitment. Each time, I was given false promises and excuses, yet no payment has been made.

Serious Concerns About This Business:
• They took my car but have not paid me despite a legally binding contract.
• They have ignored multiple follow-ups and visits while continuing to operate.
• Positive reviews keep appearing online, while I and others struggle to get paid, raising concerns about transparency. They are cooking reviews as I have been told by the director and accountant that so many sellers have pending payment like me!

I have now escalated my case to the relevant authorities to recover my money.

🚨 If you are thinking of selling your car through Happier Cars – be extremely cautious. You risk long delays or, worse, not getting paid at all. 🚨

If anyone else has experienced similar issues, I encourage you to report them to prevent further incidents.

No surprise to hear that these people are again not paying their debts, i lost out over 20k and had to employ a cobra debt collection company to recover my monies, i lost out by having to pay them a success fee but at least our nightmare ended and we did not have to go to Court.

Bought a land rover discover in February 2025 only for it to have faults I returned it back expecting a refund then 1 and half months later still no refund then I was told the car will be repaired I went today to the office and was told they have closed the business and there's no way of getting to them or finding where the land rover is this has caused me so much grief

Currently threatening legal action through no payment. I will keep updating this site.

I paid a deposit to reserve a car, but the dealership later cancelled the reservation. They promised a refund, but despite multiple requests, I have not received it. Instead of refunding the money immediately—like most reputable dealers do—they keep blaming their payment system and delaying the process.

This is a large amount of money, and their lack of urgency is completely unacceptable. If you're considering doing business here, be cautious, especially when it comes to payments and refunds. A professional dealership should not operate this way.

Claire where is my money???? Once again payment date has come and passed! You have stopped answering my email! Stop scamming people out of their hard-working earnings!!!

They are scammers! Don’t buy cars from them or let them sell your car! They sold our car without informing us and applied for a new logbook! It’s been more than a month and we still haven’t received any payment. They tell you to email Jane and then she claim to have left and Claire took over. All of who don’t exist. I don’t know how they are still open! They are not escaping the prayers I’m praying for them. Don’t be fooled by these people. They write their own reviews to make themselves seem credible and they take down the honest reviews of people who they owe or have sold faulty cars to. Time will catch up on them!

The most dishonest fraudulent and incompetent car company i have ever had the misfortune of buying from. I purchased Mercedes GLE for £33995 in April 2024 and have only this month ( after 10 months of hell ) had the car collected after the motor ombudsman ruled that the car had many faults upon delivery.
Happier Cars would still not acknowledge even after a seperate diagnostic check from a main dealer.
The manager Ian Mack even sent me Whatsapp messages stating i could not return or reject the car as it had no faults even tho I proved that it had.
Happy to share proof of messages i have from Happier Cars that will help any buyers receiving the treatment I received that affected my health very badly!

BEWARE!!!! Happier cars sold by Tesla for £22,995 on November 2024. To this date, more than 3 months later I have not received any money from the sale. I know for a fact that the buyer paid in full (no finance) because we spoke during the sale and the buyer is happy with the car.

After countless emails and phone calls for months, being lied to, being told I will be paid on specific dates a least 5 times. I am now forced to appoint two solicitors to recover the debt and also sue them for fraud by false representation (criminal matter not civil matter)

They fabricated (changed the date and details) and emailed me a Barclays letter as one of their excuses for non payment.

They are also selling cars without notifying their owners and not providing a receipt (they charge VAT so they should provide a receipt)

Professional team, highly recommend selling your car through their sale or return service, it made the process stress free. Thank you all at Happier Cars.

Their response only confirms what I said in my original review: they refuse to take responsibility and will do anything to cover their tracks.

Let’s be clear:
1. Why Are You Publicly Mentioning My Number Plate? – It’s completely unprofessional and a privacy violation for you to include my number plate in your response. There was no need to share this information publicly unless your goal was intimidation.
2. The Warranty Excuse – At no point was I informed that using the car as a taxi would void the warranty. If that was a condition, it should have been made clear before the sale, not when I needed to use the warranty. It’s obvious you either never purchased it or are now making excuses to avoid honoring it.
3. The Car’s Faults – The vehicle had major issues soon after purchase, including failed air suspension and warped brakes. You claim these were repaired, but the fact that the problems persisted proves otherwise. An invoice means nothing if the actual work wasn’t done properly—or at all.
4. Finance & Paperwork Delays – You’re bringing up my financing situation as a distraction. The delays had nothing to do with me and everything to do with your incompetence. A reputable dealer wouldn’t take a month to finalize a purchase or leave a customer without a V5C for weeks.
5. Unprofessional Behavior – Ian, I know it was you who called me to pressure me into removing my review. Instead of trying to silence unhappy customers, maybe focus on improving your business practices. The fact that you’re now making veiled threats about finance agreements just shows how desperate you are to discredit me.

Your response only proves my point: Happier Cars is dishonest, unprofessional, and not to be trusted. Instead of taking accountability, you’re attempting to intimidate customers into silence. Buyers, take this as your warning—avoid them at all costs.
