Saw a car I liked on autotrader so contacted this dealer and spoke to Van. Seemed like a nice chap. Agreed a px paid £250 deposit as I wanted the car and arranged to travel 3 hours to pick it up a few days later. During this time I changed my mind for personal reasons so I rang the dealer and spoke to a nice chap who said no worries he completely understood and when Van arrived he would refund the whole deposit. Great! 4 days later I’d heard nothing and hadn’t received a refund so I called them and Van answered the phone. Unfortunately this was where it turned nasty. I explained who I was and that I was just calling to see when I would receive my refund as promised. Van said it wasn’t fair of me to ring up and “demand “ a full refund and that he had spent a lot of money “preparing it for me”. I said that the other chap had agreed the refund and that I was under the impression I could legally get a full refund. Van became more and more aggressive saying he knew all about rights and that I had none and he didn’t have to refund any deposit and if I wanted to take him to court then I could. I was shocked by his outbursts as I had just asked politely when I would receive my refund as promised. I said all I could do was apologise for the short notice cancelling the purchase but Van said saying sorry wasn’t good enough and that wouldn’t get him back all the money he’d spent preparing it. He kept saying how much he had spent preparing the car so I asked him exactly what he had done. He said he had had it mot’d and valeted it. I replied that I thought he would have to mot it no matter who he sold it to so really his only outlay “for me” was a valet. Van got more aggressive saying who was I to say how much he’d spent preparing it and he thought it fair if he gave me half of my deposit back. He then began with personal insults saying I was penny pinching over a few quid and that I was the “kind of person “ who was selfish and didn’t care about anyone but myself. During all of the conversation I didn’t raise my voice and was calm and polite. I said to Van I really didn’t expect this kind of treatment when I rang. After about 20 minutes of abuse I grudgingly agreed to receive half of my deposit. I have never experienced anything like this in my entire life. The man was totally unprofessional, aggressive and personally abusive to a customer who only called up to see when his refund would be received. I apologised for cancelling the purchase the day before collection but that meant nothing to him. Following van’s personal attack I researched my consumer rights and I was correct in thinking I should receive a full refund as there was a 14 days cooling off period when buying a car from a distance (via internet etc) and the car had not been seen physically. Van eventually refunded the whole deposit when this was put to him. I had to write this review to warn any future customers of Van. I’m sure if there are no issues you will be fine but trust me if there are any hiccups beware. Van can turn nasty and abusive. Anyone who feels it acceptable to bully and belittle a customer should not be in the sales industry. Customers beware!

Bought a Toyota hilux from these guys the other week, came all the way from London and was well worth the journey. Dealt with Paul from the start to the finish and was great. Made things very easy and a nice guy to deal with. Thank you

Purchased a Volvo XC90, 4 years old and it looked brand new. It was in superb condition and driving it home from Hartlepool to Cambridge the car was faultless.

I've just bought a 64 plate Audi TT from Hartlepool Motor Company ( HMC ).
I cannot thank Paul at HMC enough tbh for helping me.
Due to the distance i could not view the car, or it was difficult to travel in person, so Paul sent me extra photos and videos of the car, and answered all my questions, some questions at out of office hours too.
He sorted a small loan for me without any fuss too.
Looking at their website they have a good stock of high end cars at really good prices.
I arranged to collect my car at a date that suited me, and was even met at the local train station.
With still no pressure, i gave the car an inspection and looked through the paperwork at was made to feel welcome at the garage.

After a few days i did have a small problem when an engine management light came on.
I contacted Paul and he advised me to take it to a local to me, specialist garage, to sort the issue quickly, all under the Warranty.
Paul liased with the garage direct and sorted it quickly for me.
I would have no problem in buying another car from them, or recommending HMC to others.

We recently bought an audi from Hartlepool Motor Company and it was a pleasure dealing with them from start to finish! From Van advising us on finance options at the beginning to us driving our car away. We had spoke to van, explaining what we where looking for in a car and our price range prior to him finding our perfect car and he went above and beyond. He was very honest and talked us through different models advising on the pros and cons so we could choose a car that would suite our family. This went on for a while as we were extremely indecisive.Van was very paitent and professional when we changed our minds like the weather on what car we wanted, nothing seemed to be a bother for him. Have to say we have had an amazing after sales service from HMC. We bought a Discovery Sport recently and coming towards the end of our warranty period, there were two separate issues. Honestly expected to be ignored as we were so close to the end of the warranty period however, quite the opposite really. The car was taken to a garage immediately and both issues were resolved without question. We were expecting to have to contribute as one job was bigger than anticipated. Not the case and, we were given a newer, higher spec car which probably wasn't far off double the value of ours, as a courtesy car! Things go wrong with cars, especially ones that have been driven previously, it's to be expected but, I would have no hesitation in buying from HMC again as I am completely confident in Van's honesty and integrity. When we upgrade next time (which will be to the courtesy car we were given, because it was so nice to drive lol) we will check HMC before anywhere else.

Recently bought my new car from these guys and can safely say I'll never go elsewhere for a car again. Their customer service was spot on, were very welcoming, nothing was too much bother for them and they also gave me a better price for my old car than I had been offered from anywhere else. Would 100% recommend this company to anyone!

I recently purchased my second car (A VW Tiguan ) from the guys at hartlepool motor company and the service was first class once again. With me buying my previous car there I asked them to try and find me my dream car. With in 7 days they had found exactly what I was wanting and I am now driving around a very happy customer.
