Faulty I pad from Harvey Norman
My wife bought me an I Pad for my birthday mid July. On taking it home we discovered the touch screen function didn’t work. On taking it back to Harvey Norman we thought we would get a replacement. No such luck. Although we bought it in Queensland ( Noosaville) we were inform d it would need to be sent to Sydney to an Apple Repairer to diagnose problem. Harvey Norman acknowledged it was not working. Apparently the Repairer has since gone into liquidation. Where my IPad is I have no idea. All we want is a teplacement or a refund ( we spent over $2000). In contrast we bought a TV last week from JB Hi-Fi and the instillation company noticed a crack in the screen. The TV was replaced the next day. 2 companies similar problem vastly different response. Beware if you buy a product from Harvey Norman if it is faulty.it is now 27 September and we have no I pad no replacement or no money back.
Bought a sofa from Harvey Norman…
Bought a sofa from Harvey Norman Bundall. It came with a 3 year warranty. The cushioning has collapsed on part of the sofa after 12 months. Spoke to customer support and sent photos showing the damage. The claim was originally accepted by all parties and a repair order was issued to a repairer. The repairer arrived and took some photos and left without doing the repair. We were then told by Harvey Norman that we had been sitting on the sofa incorrectly had the claim had been rejected. We spoke again to HN customer support and were told what do you expect from a sofa made in China. They are refusing to repair or compensate us in any way. We have lodged a claim with Fair Trading.
Would give it no stars if I could
Would give it no stars if I could. We bought a foldable treadmill online, when it arrived it was much bigger and bulkier than expected (the weight of the product was not listed on the item online. As the item was online only, I also could not go into a store to look at it either).
Realising I would not be able to lift it, we tried to have it refunded. After taking a long time to come back to us, HN made it very clear they were going to make returning it so expensive it would not be worth it - saying it would cost almost around $270 for the switch. Noting the item was still in its box and all the tape etc still on, so could very easily have been resold. I would have been happy to pay a fee to cover the shipping but this was ridiculous.
I won’t buy from Harvey Norman again and would recommend against it to everyone else. Take your business elsewhere!
I would not recommend as delivery…
I would not recommend as delivery charges are charged separately per item incurring a large delivery cost of over 400 dollars for one order, online orders are filled individually per item from different locations causing each item to arrive seperately over 2wks, online return policy doesn't allow change of mind returns only if products are damaged. As ordering online means not seeing products before purchase there runs the risk of items not being what U need or thought it would be, I ended up stuck with a $500 rug that was too small for the area I needed! It was unopened I spoke to online chat who directed me to go to Loganholme store and see if they would help me return it although they weren't obligated to. So I went there who told me that the rug was actually sent from another location too far for travel so I called them who than told me I have to deal with online chat services as it's an online order. What a mess and I gave the rug to family. So no I don't recommend Harvey Norman it's over priced and honestly for the price of items the service is below what I'd expect. Delivery and timeframes and unavailability of 2 items ordered was frustrating! 2 items out of 9 were unavailable after purchasing, one offer was a floor piece which was scratched so I declined and asked for refund, other timeframe was beyond 3 weeks so I had it refunded. I ordered wall art that cost $240 when it arrived it was a basic canvas print that had splash of white paint added. It's a nice peice but why it cost so much I'm unsure.
Pleasurable Visit Returning an Item
Generally, I check productreview.com.au before purchasing anything but this time, I made an impulse purchase of a Russell Hobbs Cordless Iron which was absolutely useless due to the fact that it couldn't sustain steam, instead water just ran out of it. I've previously had another "cordless iron" which from memory was a Kambrook Brand which I purchased some at least 30 years ago and it was brilliant but unfortunately, I dropped it and until this purchase I hadn't seen another "corless iron" so when I saw the RH one I thought - great I will get it. After trying to use it once and getting sick of the water coming out or it rather than steam, I returned it to the Bundall Store yesterday (30 Aug) and was attended to by a really lovely young Man Luka who was an absolute pleasure to deal with. If Harvey Norman had more Staff Members with the same attitude and ability to interact with Customers then I'm sure that Harvey Norman, Bundall would have a very much better Customer Service history with Customer interactions, than I'm guessing it does now. Luka took the time to speak with me about my issue and in fact told me that he was sure that there was going to be another "cordless iron" coming into Stock somewhere around Christmas to which I thanked him profusely and said I would look out for it and I would be sure to check because I would still love to have a decent working "cordless iron" I could trust. Thank you, Luka, you made my visit all the better for your Service.

Computer department at the Moorabbin store offer a really good service. Sasha runs a switched on team that are always ready to help. They will match a better price you've seen elsewhere and the after sales service is top notch.
I ordered an item for click and collect…
I ordered an item for click and collect and paid plus confirmed my pick up address (which was 10 minutes away from where I live). Within 2 days I got a message saying my click and collect item was ready to pick up but at a store 61kms away from me, I rang up to explain it was wrong and also send them my confirmation that my pick up store was around the corner from my address but the head office said they don’t know why that happened but can’t change it and told me to ring both stores (the one it was supposed to go to and the one it was at) and I spoke with rude assistants who basically told me , that’s too bad and they can’t do anything about it. Very very bad customer service and the worst transaction I have had to deal with. I would warn customers about their click and collect
No Consumer Guarantee at Harvey Norman
I purchased a Miele cx1 cat & dog vacuum from Harvey Norman, a few weeks after buying it the head stops spinning... We gave up constantly cleaning and fixing it & we try to return for a replacement or refund, as the machine doesn't work anywhere near AS ADVERTISED, but the manager at Harvey Norman Warrawong said it needs to be sent away due to Miele policy where they need to inspect it and possibly replace the head. This tells me: DON'T BUY MIELE & DON'T EXPECT Harvey Norman to obide by the Consumer Guarantee requirements until FORCED.
I left a review on the Harvey Norman website but they removed it.
Product Return Refused Because it had Been Opened.
The Warragul store refused a product return because they'd be unable to resell the item due to the packaging being opened and slightly damaged.
I have never had a worse experience…
I have never had a worse experience with any company. I returned an item in store. NEW. I got told I will get a refund but it will take a week as it was purchased online. After two weeks of going back and forth via email to see how long the refund takes I got told, there wont be a refund. What?!?! Jesus. I have no words left. They are a JOKE.
TV Hisense 30 inch.
Last week my mother called the electrician to see what happened to the television that for two months my mother has had to get up early in the morning. He told me why she has to wait for the television to warm up, he told me and then she can change the channel, but now a few days ago an electrician came from Harvey Norman where we bought the television and did the work but it still gives her this problem. My mother has to have it warmed up and then change the channel. However, this electrician did not achieve anything, he gave him $99.00 but without doing anything at all!!!
Be very careful on the sales person you…
Be very careful on the sales person you engage with. After spending an hour in negotiating a number of appliances with their respective model numbers. The sales person deceitfully removes an item you agreed on to reduce the price right at the end of the agreement. Sadly i didn't cross reference all the products on the receipt and thought they did their job right until i realised on delivery they left a product out to reach the agreed discount. Very unethical and immoral practice. I raised the issue with the operations manager and sales person denied what happened. Please don't fall in the same trap as i did. Never again will i purchase anything from Harvey Norman nor recommend anyone to shop there.
Only shop at Harvey Norman
Happy customer.
I don't bother going anywhere else any more. Have been purchasing all my items, big or small for the last 20 years predominantly from the Broadmeadows store.
I have always found them to be helpful, informative and will do their best to give me their best deal including price matching.
Our recent purchase was a bed head that had to be matched to a bed base material from ten years ago.
All the staff I dealt with were so helpful and went above and beyond.
We ordered the bedhead and once got home realised the bedhead wouldn't work and had to change the order. It wasn't a problem. Anu from bedding sorted it all out and sent out new paperwork promptly.
An 8 week time line was given but around 5 got a message to pick it up from the dispatch area.
Hubby went to pick it up and unfortunately there was a mishap. After a phone call and explaining our disappointment they promptly came up with a solution to deliver it themselves. In fact Jyden from dispatch personally delivered it in his own time asap and apologised many times. He definitely went above and beyond.
Your efforts and customer service was impeccable and much appreciated.
Harvey Norman doesn’t listen or accept refund under the Aust Consumer Rights & Guarantee
I purchased a Gasmate Galaxy bbq for $4000 after being assured by Harvey Norman (HN) it was an excellent bbq & that they’d not had any complaints about the product & that it would meet our needs to bbq meats and also roast meat. We were hesitant because it was so expensive and over 2 visits to the Townsville store spoke with the sales rep and her manager about what we wanted out of the bbq. From 1st use the bbq burned our meat and flamed uncontrollably on the lowest burner settings. We lodged a complaint with Gasmate who were appalling and dismissive and handballed us to Harvey Norman. We have only used the bbq 3 times because of the performance. Fast forward, it has resulted in us going to the ACCC with our request to HN for a refund de denied under consumer rights and guarantees. The refund request is because the Galaxy bbq is not fit for purpose ( with more than 1 steak on with the burners on low it still produces high flames that burn the meat) and because it is not acceptable quality under the consumer guarantee as it is impossible to clean (except for the grill/hot plates). Harvey Norman do not want to refund us, they sent a manager and ex-chef out to bbq 1 piece of steak for us (we have had years of excellent use of Ziggy and Webers, so we know how to cook a steak). The rep struggled to get the steak to medium rare, flipping it at least 10 times to prevent it burning with the burners on low (my 16 year meat mad son commented after he left that he steak was overcooked). After the HN rep left we tried again to cook with the bbq and were unsuccessful in preventing 3 steaks cooking at once from burning and producing high flames. The management then deemed the bbq in fit working order so we are off to QCAT. Apart of room the warning about Gasmate Galaxy bbqs it appears HN are unwilling to refund on higher end products.
"Consumer Law Violations - Two Failed Products, Refund Refused"
Harvey Norman Liverpool has violated my consumer rights by:
• Providing two faulty corner lounges (Oct 2023, July 2024, May 2025)
• Refusing legal right to refund under major failure provisions
• Demanding I pay repair costs on their defective $4,091 furniture
• Ignoring Australian Consumer Law requirements
Manager response shows clear ignorance of consumer guarantees. Two product failures = major failure = customer's choice of remedy.
Fair Trading NSW and ACCC are now investigating (Ticket #01-056-17581).
Save yourself the hassle - shop with retailers who understand and respect your legal consumer rights. Harvey Norman clearly doesn't.
UPDATE: Government agencies confirm Harvey Norman is violating consumer law by refusing refund and charging repair costs.
Epic Fail by Harvey Norman Fortitude…
Epic Fail by Harvey Norman Fortitude Valley. This is Masterclass of What Not To Do
I made a click and collect purchase through Harvey Norman Fortitude Valley and confirmed the availability of stock. One hour and 45 minutes later, I attended the store to collect my order. Upon arrival, I was informed by a staff member that a “team meeting” had taken precedence and my order had not been picked.
After waiting an additional 25 minutes in store, only part of my order was available. That is right, Harvey Norman is actively selling stock they do not actually have.
I made it clear to staff that the remainder of the order would need to be posted. Today, I received a call informing me that not only is there still a balance of the order to fulfil, but I would also be expected to pay for shipping; this despite the error being entirely theirs.
I raised this with the staff member and the store manager, I was simply told again about the shipping fee, with zero ownership or customer care.
This is not a minor service slip. This is a complete failure of basic order fulfilment, inventory management and customer service. Harvey Norman, your systems are broken, your communication is appalling, and your customer experience is utterly unacceptable.
I will be lodging a formal complaint with ACCC. You are knowingly advertising and selling products that are not in stock, failing to fulfil orders, and then trying to shift the cost of rectifying your mistake back onto the customer.
Harvey Norman, you need to do better. This is a textbook example of how to lose a customer for life.
I purchased a Lenovo new laptop last…
I purchased a Lenovo new laptop last week and a few extras due to the good salesman that was fine and also paid an extra $100 to have it all set up and was told I can pick it up in 48 hours. When I pick up the computer it was still in the sealed original box and was told that it was all set up, when I got home and tried to open it there was nothing!! so I took it back the next day and was told that no tech person did anything? I was very upset and disappointed after all the time that was wasted. Anyway they told me to wait here for a hour until they set it up for me. this was the first time I bought a computer and expected better service then what I got.
Extremely Disappointed
Extremely Disappointed – Poor Customer Service and No Product Support
We spent over $10,000 at Harvey Norman Mount Barker, having been lured in by a seemingly great sale. Unfortunately, any savings we made came at the cost of customer service, peace of mind, and basic respect.
When we returned to the store with a product issue, the staff—particularly in the Tech section—seemed determined to engage in conflict rather than understand our concern or offer a reasonable resolution. There was no attempt to support us as customers, no willingness to discuss the issue calmly, and certainly no backing of the products they sell. Their approach was combative, dismissive, and completely unhelpful.
This experience has been incredibly disappointing and stressful. We will never shop at this store again, and we strongly caution others—don’t be fooled by the discount. Saving a few thousand dollars is not worth the frustration of dealing with rude and argumentative staff who show no interest in customer care or standing by the products they sell.

I stopped by Harvey Norman to look at some furniture and electronics, but I wasn't particularly impressed. Some of the equipment didn't feel the best quality, and the prices were a little high for what you got. When I asked for staff help I received hurried responses, and nobody truly came over
Bianca from Harvey Norman was great in…
Bianca from Harvey Norman was great in all of her communication to help with the delivery of my couch. The couch delivery was delayed due to shipping delays and she was superb in keeping me in the loop with whereabouts of my furniture throughout. She was friendly and professional and went above and beyond with all her communications.
