Nightmare!

An ambulance destroyed the wall of my home, and despite multiple emails including to the Dra in charge and multiple departments there has been no response. HCB Denia said my policy didn't cover ambulance service but it does and they've still not refunded. Medical staff also clumsy despite being the only person in the A&E unit.

They've also done everything to block access to my own medical records. And responded in totally unprofessional and childish ways - suddenly speaking in German and just tormenting to waste more time and avoid simply providing medical records. What absolutely horrid, horrid people - and the fish is clearly rotten from the head down (yes Dra. I'm speaking to you).

So they've now forced me to make this a legal and regulatory matter. The standard of care and overall handling of this situation is absolutely the worst imaginable. HCL San Carlos just as bad. Horrendous. But if they want a fight they've got one.

I can't thank the doctors at HCB enough…

I can't thank the doctors at HCB enough! Their diligence has saved my life. I was due to have a minor surgery on my foot. The anaesthetist Dr Juan Cardona picked up an abnormality in my heart that had gone unnoticed in all my other ECGs, he told me he couldn't allow the operation to go ahead. I was shocked, I had been referred by Denia hospital, and didn't know what to do next ( the waiting list at Denia is very very long). He made an appointment for me with their cardiologist for the next day, she was extremely efficient and saw the problem immediately. She notified Denia hospital saying I needed urgent open heart surgery! I am hoping to have the operation in the next few weeks. I cannot thank them enough!

Great care through a difficult time

I can only praise the staff in both the ICU and the ward for the exceptional service and care I recieved following my recent heart failure...6 days in ICU and 1 week in the ward...at all times great care, communication, cleaning of room and friedly staff...my experience was exceptional and I'm very grateful to all the staff, and my cardiologist Dr Oliver for her fine care and diligence in helping me understand the process of recovery and her caring attitude through a difficult time.

From a Simple Filling to a Nightmare

I’ve been going to HCB Denia Dentist since January 2025 to get three teeth filled. What started as a simple treatment turned into a long and painful nightmare.

Every time they did something, something else would break or get infected afterward. Instead of fixing the problem properly, they kept telling me to wait until the roots were dead so they could do a root canal. Meanwhile, I was left in pain for days.

After one of those root canal treatments, the tooth broke in two, and suddenly I also needed a crown — even though I originally came in for nothing more than a simple filling. When I mentioned that another filling didn’t feel right, they claimed they couldn’t find any issue… but in the end, that tooth also needed a root canal.

On top of that, they tapped on other teeth with a metal instrument, almost as if they were hoping something would break. And less than a week after another filling was done, it fell out again.

In short: poor quality, poor care, and a truly unpleasant experience. I would not recommend this dental clinic to anyone.

I broke my collarbone in 3 places in…

I broke my collarbone in 3 places in andorra. Got told I needed surgery but was told best to get surgery closer to home.the insurance I have said go HBC Denia.....not sure what qualifications them idiots have. But they told me to go home and rest and it will heal on its own. I went to imed Benidorm for a 3rd opinion and yes it needs operating on urgently as one fracture the bone has twisted round and needs surgery. It's been 2 weeks since the accident and imed have to sort out the surgery as HBC Denia are incompetent fools who are only there to take a wage and not care about the patients. Once this operation is done I'll be suing them for health neglect. Stuff are useless. Can't explain how disappointed I am with this hospital. I hope they all get sacked. Doctors should care about patients not just a wage.

NOT a good experience

NOT a good experience, again! We had a from HCB side rescheduled appointment yesterday by general practitioner. We were there on time. Waiting about 1 hour in the waitingroom, without any explanation. Other patients who came much later were asked to go in much earlier. The receptionists said later that there was a delay. Why they do not let people know about it before??
It is already at least 8-th visit at HCB within last 1,5 year, then by specialists though, not only in Dénia, but also in Calpe and Benidorm, they have NEVER managed to be on schedule!

The hospital and Dr don't care or show up

The hospital makes you wait for an appointment for one month and cancels one hour before. Then makes an new appointment and cancels this one day before. I make time in my schedule for those appointments! Now they tell me I can come in one month! So I have to wait for 2 months and it wouldn't surprise me if then they also cancel. I think Dr Dra. RICART HERNANDEZ, MARIA should take her patients more serious and respect their time and show up to work and the hospital should arrange an solution for when a patient is canceled 2 times and have to wait 2 months. This is onprofessional.

Bad experience

As a professional, I am surprised how such a small, easy-to-manage hospital is so poorly organized. Communication is not clear and poorly organised. The OR appointment appears to be set 3 weeks later upon arrival.
On the day of the operation I was asked to be present at 7.30 am, then waited downstairs at 8 am in an unpleasant room without further contact with anyone from the hospital after the operation, which considering the procedure was a day case, there turned out to be nowhere to sleep in, among other things, no drip or follow-up took place. Ultimately I was driven to a department where they very unpleasantly admitted me.
communication with patient poor again. Stay the night..? home...how to care for wounds? bring a care package? Pain relief..? Nothing .. lost clothes were found and thrown on the table.. left.. reported to nurse's post.. totally surprised.. to leave.. package asked to treat wound.. became 1..! !! gauze was given..no good day, no recovery, nothing at all.. In short, a very bad experience!! Knowing what is charged for this procedure, I find this a shame and will actually file a complaint. Conclusion: very disappointing for a private hospital. Rating actually not even 1 star.

Very bad experience

I arrived at the HCB hospital in Denia on time for my 11:50 appointment. The receptionist informed me that I had missed my appointment at 9:45, which was not what they told me. They said they had contacted and modified the timing for me, but this was not true. They called me an hour before my arrival, spoke Spanish, then hung up when they found I only spoke English. Due to poor communication, the receptionist, who had an attitude, informed me that I could only do one at the end of the month at 9 p.m., which was far too late for me. As I have this health problem and also don't drive, I have to walk all the way from home. I do not recommend this hospital for their service and lack of English and bad attitude!

Not recommended the HCB.

Not recommended the HCB.
It is promised on the website that there are Dutch doctors, nurses etc.
The only time I heard Dutch was when paying the bill.

The doctor's English was poor and accented (V became a B) and no time was taken to explain anything.

It was briefly explained that the doctor thought I needed different lenses and if I would just sign for that: €2236, while it was promised beforehand (by HCB and FBTO) that cataract surgery would be fully reimbursed.

In the Netherlands I had been diagnosed with a complication in one eye but this was not noticed in Denia, despite my mentioning it, so the operation took a very long time and is still not good.

The aftercare is not good, I had problems so i called, would be called back but did not happen.
Called again, I just had to go to the emergency, once there they couldn't help me, had to make an appointment with the doctor!!!

At the last visit to the ophthalmologist I was given drops for dry eyes, these drops only worsened the problems.

Back home, I got no contact at the ophthalmologist, went to my own ophthalmologist again and am still under treatment.

Bad communication - Much too slow in providing results!

Bad communication - MUCH TOO SLOW in providing results!
My doctor requested an appointment for an echo on a Friday morning in Denia to find out if (urgent) a tendon operation would be necessary, Apointment only next Monday at lunch time. After several calls , written global report only Tuesday lunch time, foto’s Tuesday evening 18.00 hrs, again after insisting with several calls. Only then I could inform my travel assitance in Belgium. So unacceptable delay and complete results should have been available before the Friday 17.00 hrs! Not worth to go to the HCB private clinic to only get such a service. I am convinced that the doctors are very good, but that the internal communication and procedures of HCB need a quality update if they exist at all?

Dr. Lucas Kleijn's innovative hip replacement

HCB Denia has the superb services of Lucas Kleijn, who comes to Denia every 6 weeks to perform his innovative hip replacement technique. His approach is from the front, which avoids muscle damage. This can halve the recovery time. Dr. Kleijn is a skilled and excellent surgeon who cares about his patients. I highly recommend him.

Reception Misfortune.

Misfortune to have to deal with the reception team is your first hurdle in dealing with this hospital. Allow at least 30 minutes to be seen and registered.
I have watched them “surfing” their own system looking for inspiration as what to do with you, normally asking another member.
Benidorm need to retake control of this administration mess or if your able go to Benidorm instead.
Oh, doctors are normally running late to make your day!

I had a knee replacement at Hcb the surgeon and theatre staff were good but the hospital stay was terrible my surgery was on a Thursday i should have been discharged on Saturday but no staff were the hospital front doors are locked - it was a skeleton weekend shift the nursing care at the weekends is below a satisfactory standard i was forced to pay for these extra two days until Monday which was not acceptable -I paid for my operation in advance and the physio did not turn up on a Saturday to help me out of bed so I was left in dirty sheets for four days I would strongly recommend that if you go in for surgery and are paying it is imperative to ask the questions about the after care also the price I was quoted did not include any follow up appointments which left me feeling vulnerable even removal of stitches beware of Hcb hospitals make sure you know what you are getting before you pay also the replacement unit deal with Irish patients as they are in the eu and get it for free they had a better quality of care than me whilst on the ward I will never have treatment here again

The new Denia Hospital is very good BUT Bad on communication

The new Denia hospital is very good... BUT Their communication is terrible to non existent.
If you use their contact button on their website, you are forced to use their Form System.
From this you will never get a response.
I have completed their forms 2 times and never had a response.
I also tried to use their appointment making system on the website, that failed also.
When i advised them of these problems at reception, i was told i should phone.
Now i will contact San Carlos instead. They make it easy with Whatsapp and are very quick to respond.
I have also tried to message them them through Facebook, which also they did not respond to
