HD Sentinel is an extremely valuable
HD Sentinel is an extremely valuable, important tool that I recommend to everyone running any version of Windows. It is a very important part of my computer consulting service.
Hard drives fail, sometimes after a short time, or after a very long time. The Operating System, all installed Programs and all of your own unique Data, will be lost when the HD breaks down. Would it not be great if you had some warning as soon as the first signs of failure showed, before the failure grew more and more serious and reached the point when you could no longer access the HD at all.
This is exactly what HD Sentinel does, in addition to monitoring the temperature of each and every HD (or SSD) installed in your computer.
The default installation configures Windows so that HD Sentinel is always the last program to load every time your turn the computer on. Thus, each time you boot your machine you can see the health of all of your HDs. Furthermore, after you close the program, when you properly configure the taskbar (bottom right of the screen) to show HD Sentinel, you will have a continous readout of the temperature of your HD's. Heat is one of the biggest enemies of HD's, so it is important to keep track of it, and fix the problem that causes overheating (too much dust, fan failures).
Janos Mathe, who created HD Sentinel, invites customers to send him questions and offers to help figure out HD problems.
Unlike many other companies, HD Sentinel will actually respond to your e-mails, promptly and with helpful comments. I know this from experience.
Finally, HD Sentinel is not a subscription (which I hate), in fact you pay once and get to use it forever, because the license is perpetual. This means that you get all updates free.
I have used HD Sentinel for at least 7-8 years (can't remember exactly) and when installed on client's computers it has saved a lot of my client's data because we replaced their HD's easily before the breakdown was so bad that we could not copy the HD contents to a brand new HD.
I'm not an employee of HD Sentinel, I am an independent computer consultant, and I simply want to share information about programs offered by companies that live up to your highest expectations. Unfortunately there are too few.
