Gastric sleeve 4 weeks post op
Really easy to book. Surgeon explained it all. Very pleased so far. One niggle is the bariatric nurse is supposed to call but no set time. I am 4 weeks post op. She has rung twice. Each time I have been in a meeting. I have called back but cannot get an answer. I have left messages but she does not return the call. If I had any queries and could not get an answer I would not be happy

Cant fault.. better than a new car !!
I had a conversion gastric band to mini bypass 3 weeks ago with Mr Singhal in Solihull.
I made enquiry hoping to have op closer to home in Yorkshire but was told had to be Birmingham.
From the minute i spoke to Mr Singhal i felt i was in great hands. I had op 2 weeks after first enquiry.
So pleased i travelled to Birmingham , everything has gone great so far.
All the healthier weight staff, hospital staff have been brilliant . And i hate hospitals!!!
Already 2 stones down and im on the lighter side to have surgery.
Minimal pain , discomfort or issues.
No it wasn't cheap but I'm sure it'll be worth it . Heres to a healthier happier and hopefully longer rest of my life

Should have done it sooner
Should have done it sooner.
I’ve not long had my surgery & 4weeks down the road I’ve lost 2 stone. From the first time I phone & enquired I’ve been talked through it the whole way. Like most money was my problem but as someone said I would get a car loan for this amount so why not for my health. Surgery was very well organised with surgeon still explaining things to me before going down. I decided to stay in for the 2 days & glad I did. Nurses were very friendly & aftercare so far has been great.

From initial contact there was always someone there to answer any questions that cropped up previous to surgery and the same afterwards anything at all was no issue for for the contact staff/nurses/dietitian...being well looked after was one of the draws that made me choose healthier weight for my procedure.

They was brilliant from the moment I contacted them. Had my gallbladder removal with Mr Melik at the pines hospital. The hospital was brilliant. My aftercare was brilliant and worrys they where there. I would definitely recommend healthier weight.

No suitable post-op care
The pre-op conversations were average and seemed to revolve around making sure that I was going to pay for the surgery, not around the care in general. Post-op I received unscheduled calls (which weren't rescheduled when I told the caller that I wasn't available) and I was informed that an appointment with a nutritionist was something that I had to arrange myself despite it being listed as part of the package that I had paid for. I am relying on social media and online literature to carry on my own post-op care and to bumble through the nutritional side of things.

The pre-operative stage of our service has many components, both from a medical and an administrative perspective. Patients are provided with vast nutritional guidance before surgery, regarding both the pre-operative diet and the post-operative dietary stages. Our nurses also carry out their pre-operative calls with patients and are always happy to speak with patients if any additional support is required.
Ensuring that patients feel ready and prepared for surgery is extremely important to us, which why these procedures are in place. We are sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with the pre-operative conversations.
After surgery, there are a list of scheduled post-operative calls in place. The initial calls are from our nurses at 3 days, 10 days, 3 weeks and 8 weeks post-operation. We understand that many of our patients have busy schedules and are more than happy to re-schedule the calls if necessary, as they are crucial during the healing stages. Follow-up emails are furthermore sent after any unanswered calls.
We are sorry to hear that you feel on your own regarding post-operative nutrition. We have developed lots of nutritional guidance, all of which is sent to patients via e-mail and is further available on our website and the Healthier Weight app. The app further includes our on-demand dietician appointments, which patients schedule themselves to fit their schedules.
We have an open-door policy for all patients and encourage patients to contact our Patient Support aftercare team with any dietary or general post-operative questions they may have.
