I opened an account about three months ago. The process was a little weird, but ultimately not painful. Within a couple of days they approved my account, and I started taking payments.
Yesterday they emailed me to say my account had been closed. Apparently we "aren't a good fit" for them, and they wished us luck with another provider.
I had zero disputed charges. Zero chargebacks. So what could have possibly changed so drastically in three months?
I switched from our previous merchant provider because I wanted the ability to pass the processing fees on to our customers. We work mostly business-to-business, and ACH payments are common in our industry. But when customers have the option to pay by credit card to earn rewards points, many still choose to do so. That's fine, but we don't want to pay for their points, so we switched specifically for that feature.
Helcim has that one feature, but compared to what I was already used to with our previous processor, Helcim's user interface is painful to use and regularly has issues just loading pages. (I'm on a new Mac. I tried both Safari and Chrome. Same issues regardless.) It was common for me to get logged out before I could even create a single invoice. I honestly can't think of one other aspect that Helcim does as well as our previous processor.
To top it off, they won't tell me why they kicked us to the curb. It's a secret, and the decision is final. Less than 24 hours after notifying me, they also blocked my access to the account. I had to email them just to regain access long enough to export my data, which, to their credit, they did accommodate.
During my short time with Helcim, I had to call customer service twice. Both times I sat on hold for about 25 minutes. The people who answered were nice, but completely unable to help me.
Lucky for me, I never closed the account with our previous provider because I was moving our business over gradually. As it turns out, they've since released a beta feature that allows us to add a surcharge to credit card payments. Now I have a platform that's actually usable, the one feature that caused me to switch in the first place, and I don't have to deal with a company that feels like it's being run out of someone's mom's basement.
Cue the company reply about having to comply with regulatory this and that... as though their competitors don't have to navigate the exact same waters.
Good riddance.

I love the so many savings they offer and they are so easy to work with! Only thing I don't like, and is the only reason why I don't give 5 stars is, sometimes they delay batches (yes, plural) for more than 2 business days. Their answer is: "The batch is under review" Other than that I HIGHLY recommend Helcim.

The on boarding process, especially with the partnership program and the entire Tier 2 Team has been exceptional. My goal was to move fast and the entire team at Helcim has always been one step ahead. Thank you all for your hard work.

The ease of using Helcim is mind blowing to me!! From set up to making payments...it was seamless. The fees are low and all the different options to set up my terminal gives me a feeling of they have my back!! Can't recommend them enough!

I do not recommend Helcim based on my experience.
I started my application on July 2 and completed all of the requested business information. My account was then placed under review. During that process, I linked my business bank account, provided copies of previous invoices to verify my business activity, temporarily lifted the freeze on my Experian credit file, and even sent screenshots confirming that my credit file was accessible.
Despite completing every request, I continued receiving additional verification requests, including instructions to log into a TransUnion account that I do not even have. Several days later, I was asked to provide copies of previous email communications with one of my clients, along with copies of service agreements and contracts. At that point, the requests had become unnecessarily invasive and excessive for a small business payment processing account.
While Helcim continued asking for more documentation, I applied with another payment processor. The entire application took less than five minutes, I sent my invoice the same day, and received payment that same day.
After I responded to Helcim expressing my concerns about the repeated documentation requests, my application was automatically closed.
As a small business owner, time is valuable. Instead of helping me get up and running, this process consumed hours of unnecessary back-and-forth with no clear end in sight.
If your business depends on opening a merchant account quickly and efficiently, my experience suggests looking at other providers before investing your time with Helcim. Do not use Helcim!

I opened a Helcim merchant account for my cleaning business and completed every verification request they asked for, including submitting my government-issued ID and a photo of myself holding my ID.
After successfully processing a legitimate customer payment of $3,390, Helcim held my funds for six days without releasing the deposit. During that time, I repeatedly contacted support asking for an update. Instead of resolving the issue, I was asked for information that was already available in their own platform.
After complying with their verification requests, my merchant account was unexpectedly closed while my funds were still being held.
At the time of writing this review, I have not received my deposit or a clear explanation for why my funds were withheld for nearly a week. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau because I believe merchants deserve timely communication and access to legitimately earned funds.
If Helcim promptly releases my funds or otherwise resolves this matter, I will update this review to reflect that outcome.

You helped me set up and use your service then cancelled my acct because I don't have any social media presence. This caused me huge embarrassment and aggravation with my clients.
