Basically it's a great thing if you don't have to worry about whether you have the right ticket on the bus, tram or metro, you can go anywhere and many sights are included. However, many attractions a... See more

At the moment there are no bus tours included and the boat tours dont operate as usual due to a flight show, so the card is not worth the price at the moment.

Due to seasonal factors I was not able to enjoy the card to the fullest extent. My visit was in late-ish October. I'm not sure there was value in the card.

Don't use it on Monday. Most museums are closed.

Easy to use

Easy to use and had a good number of tourist sites included. The card was also really convenient for public transport. I'd say a larger variety of tourist sites would make it even better.

We ordered the card on line and picked it up at the airport when we arrived in Helsinki. We used the card for several activities and had no problems at all. We felt it was a good value for us.

Unbelievable value

Unbelievable value. You get free admission to several attractions, which are quite expensive if you keep buying single tickets. Plus, and this is a BIG plus, the card allows you free unlimited travel on the wonderful public transport system. (In this respect, it is better value than the Stockholm Pass, because in Stockholm you need to buy a seperate card for the public transport). Taxis are expensive in Helsinki (remember Finland is one of the world's richest countries), so having the facility to hop on or hop off a tram, or bus, is amazing. Public transport includes some ferries to islands near Helsinki. I used it to go Suomenlinna. I would strongly urge people to spend a bit extra, and buy the Helsinki Region card, this gives you free travel (again unlimited!) around the region. The Region card allows you travel to and from the airport. You can buy the Helsinki card online, and then collect it as you reach Helsinki by plane, there is a counter at the airport. It is a 72 hour card, so if your first use is say at 7pm on Monday evening to catch a train to the city, it is valid till 7pm on Thursday. Very very fair!

Good value, though the Panorama bus tour and Hop On Hop Off are similar.

Worth it!

I dithered about buying this as lots of reviewers said it was not worth the money unless you are spending all day every day in museums but to the contrary we only did two museums and the bus and the canal tour over two days and still saved money and found it to be very convenient. We got the city card so all of your local travel was included and it was the ability to hop on trams and the metro without having to buy separate tickets which made it so convenient. We didn’t save huge amounts of money but we saved some m, which is always good, and it made getting around easy so would definitely recommend it.

Reply from Helsinki Card

Dear Mr Anwer Jamil,

Thank you for taking the time to review Helsinki Card. We are happy to hear that you felt that Helsinki Card was a good value. Hope to see you in Helsinki soon again!

Regarding to Airport transfer:
If you want to travel to the Airport by using the commuter train, choose Helsinki Card REGION which includes the public transport within the zones ABC. However, if you have already chosen Helsinki Card CITY (incl. public transport within zones AB), you still have a chance to travel to the Airport by using Finnair City Bus on discounted price with your Helsinki Card.

Best Regards,
Noora

The card covered everything we wanted to do in Helsinki without having to pay any extra. We used the card for public transport, the Hop On Hop Off bus and entrance to several museums. Couldn’t ask for more for a very reasonable price.
