Purchased small coffee table online
Purchased small coffee table online. Phoned as had some queries about the finish options, spoke to helpful customer service lady. Table arrived, fits in nicely with newly decorated room. Slight issue with delivery arrangements hence 4 stars…but all in all good.

Have recommended many times
I’ve used Hemming and Wills a few times now, after first purchasing a reclaimed wood kitchen table and bench from them a couple of years ago. I’m forever getting compliments on the table and people always ask me where I got it, so I’ve recommended them a few times. I’ve always found their customer service and communication spot on. Will definitely use again.

Terrible service, poor quality and a rude MD
The level of service and respect I was shown as a customer by the MD, Chris was quite frankly disgusting.
To fully explain the situation would take far too long so I’ll summarise in short.
Bought a table
Powder coating on the legs was so poor that there was metal exposed
It rained, rusted and stained my patio
Complained and was told it was my fault by the MD who also ignored my requests
Went legal and received a letter from their insurers
They admitted liability
They paid me close to £10,000.00 for a whole new patio.
Summary
Avoid. Awful company and awful man to deal with. Wasted a year chasing this and now have the aggravation of the work itself.

Terrible company
Terrible company - after several months, table arrived damaged and at 11.30pm at night. Took weeks to collect. Confirmed colour was correct to them. Replacement finally arrived and it had no finish applied to the wood whatsoever, and was a completely different colour - called customer services and sent photos, was accused of lying and treated with a general attitude of disdain and smugness throughout. They denied that no finish was applied, even though the bottom looked exactly like the top. Only when I threatened them with court did they arrange refund and collection. Collection driver told us they are an awful company and they have to take so much flak for their mistakes. I posted on my personal Facebook page about the damage and quality of the product and they asked me to take it down as they are a small company and it would hurt their reputation - being a small business is not license for poor products. Several other customers messaged me to share they’d had similar experiences. Avoid, they are an amateur hour company that treats their customers appallingly. They also banned me from their page because they didn’t like that I bit back after treating me like scum.

The perfect table for a family room
We ordered the driftwood table that fits 6-8, trapeze legs and matching bench.
We did our homework on the colours as we didn't know which one would work for us so if you're stuck, go on their Instagram page and check out the tagged photos and see customer photos also.
Unfortunately when it arrived, we had a bit of a wonky bench which couldn't be of fault to anyone as you wouldn't know until it was installed. We took photos and emailed the customer service team who passed it on to the workshop and were brilliant. A new was delivered in the space of two weeks.
Highly recommended.

Not initially the quality I had expected but our concerns were rectified later.
The finish on the table we ordered looked nothing like any of the 3 examples advertised. It was also unfinished on the underside with saw dust falling off constantly and writing on it from notes in the workshop. I read through the information on each finish in detail before buying and was aware that a slight variation in a wash or stain can occur but I studied the 3 separate examples and we would have been happy if the table looked like any of the examples advertised.
When we complained and sent various images the initial response was unhelpful however the team re-reviewed our complaint and the manager Gary contacted us and was apologetic and very helpful in working with us to find a solution. They offered to replace the table and had taken our concerns on board reassuring us they were planning to use a different workshop to ensure we got the finish we desired.
We however opted to have the current table sanded and refinished as we had fallen in love with the knots and unique markings in the wood. Hemming and Wills offered compensation for this and offered to help us find someone locally who could do this.
Overall I would recommend Hemming and Wills, despite the initial issues they have made a significant effort to ensure we have a quality piece of furniture we will love for years to come.

GAWGEOUS LUSH BEAUT of a kitchen table…
GAWGEOUS LUSH BEAUT of a kitchen table and bench from reclaimed wood.
Customer service was exceptional.
Delivery was ahead of schedule by a month which was awesome, and the chaps putting it together did a great job. It’s a focal point in our kitchen and everyone comments on it. Love it!

Not up to expectations
The table was far from the quality shown in the online pictures, or other 'reclaimed' furniture that I've had from elsewhere.
We chose a finish of 'grey wash' which was described as 'bringing out the character and natural colour of the timber together with subtle hints of grey', using 'reclaimed wood which can be hundreds of years old, has had a former life and gives reclaimed furniture a unique look and feel'. The online photos showed a gentle sheen, and all the detail of the wood grain.
What we received was rough cut timber, covered with what looked like a grey resin/filler which in places far from 'bringing out the character' completely obscured the timer. The finish was rough to the extent that it caught on clothing. The website claimed that products have a "Matt Water Resistant Lacquer or Equivalent" but ours appeared to be completely water absorbent. The timber itself appeared more like new scaffold boards than 'recycled floor joists'.
I was fully expecting rustic wood with imperfection in the wood itself, but that's quite different to a poor workmanship and a poor quality finish.
In the end I spent a couple of days carefully sanding the table, and treating with a clear matt vanish, and was able to get the finish that I expected, just like is shown in the online photos. I still have doubts that this is really reclaimed timber, but nonetheless I have now got a rustic effect table.
nb: Delivery took 13.5 weeks vs the 10-12 weeks claimed at the time of order and we had to chase several times to get delivery updates. Delivery and assembly itself was good and professional.

Really poor quality ‘reclaimed wood’…
Really poor quality ‘reclaimed wood’ furniture. We waited 14 weeks (the website said 8 weeks) for a a wood table and bench and when the order finally arrived it was wrong, we ordered a bench with a back and our delivery had no back. Also the quality of the product was much worse than ones I’ve seen from other places, the finish is incredibly rough and has splinters of wood sticking up through all of it, there’s deep diagonal grooves in parts of the table which are inconsistent with the grain of wood and look like someone has sawn in to them. There’s striping all across the table which is against the grain of wood and has artificially created a stripey look to the table. The underside of both table and bench are unfinished and having pen markings all over them and no varnish/wax finish which makes it looks like they’ve deliberately damaged the top of the table to look like reclaimed wood.
After raising all of this with them we got a very small partial refund for the wrong bench but we’re still going to have to get a friend round to help with re sanding it and properly finishing the table. Really disappointing experience.

Excellent team at H&W
Excellent team at H&W. Couldn’t ask for better customer service. The bench we ordered is stunning. Initially we were not happy with the colour but within 2 days of mentioning this H&W had sent out a wood stain free of chanter with instructions. Thank you 🙏

We received our reclaimed table and bench a couple of weeks ago and couldn’t be happier. Love that they are totally unique pieces and we’ve had lots of compliments from guests. We’ll definitely use H&W again!

The table looks beautiful from far but…
The table looks beautiful from far but the finish when you get closer is not fantastic for the price and, after having my table for a month, the wood has started to peel off. The bench that was recommended to go with the table size that I bought does not fit the table, it is far too long and does not fit snug underneath. I contacted Hemming and Wills regarding this and their first response was to ask me to drill new holes in an incredibly heavy table so that I could move the table legs and the bench sit underneath. This was not possible based on 1) my strength and 2) it would not be possible to place the table legs any further apart. I am now a month in with a table that is flaking and a bench that doesn't fit and H&W have told me that I will need a site visit to see what has happened and that they also don't know when they will be able to do this because their staff are busy. Customer service isn't fantastic at all.
Update: after posting this review, I received a call at 5.30pm stating a member of the workshop team would be with me the following morning (very short notice). The site visit took place and the member of the workshop team (who is actually working for the manufacturer which is a different company to Hemming and Wills) advised me, using an expletive, that the quality of the table I had received was of a generally lower standard of the tables that the workshop send out and should not have been sent to me in the first place. He advised that he could move the legs of the table so that the bench would fit underneath but that this would compromise the structural integrity of the table, he could not fix various different issues with the table surface and that I should request a replacement from Hemming and Wills. I told him that there would be no point in moving the legs and creating a, somewhat, dangerous table, if I was going to have to ask for a replacement table anyway. I then spoke to my customer service adviser, Danielle, to advise of the conversation and she said they would look into it and come back to me, which I was satisfied with. A few hours later, I received a call from Danielle’s superior to ask why I had sent the workman away without allowing him to fix the table. I felt the conversation was very accusatory in nature, insinuating that I had sent the workman away with no reason and was intentionally being difficult, despite numerous problems with the table that I had been advised were not rectifiable. They offered me a full refund of the product which I declined on the basis that I like the overall look of the table and that their own workman had told me that the table I had received was sub standard (so any replacement would therefore be of higher quality).
They have now agreed to replace the table but it has been a fight to get the quality that I’ve paid for. Fingers crossed the next table does not have the issues I’ve experienced so far.
