Total waste of time and money

HeyGen is a complete disappointment. The software does not work as advertised, core features are buggy, and generated videos are often unusable. There is no real customer support—no one to speak to, no accountability, and no meaningful help when things break.

They misrepresented what was included, pushed “unlimited” features that later turned into extra charges, and burned credits on failures caused by their own system. No refunds, no ownership of problems, just excuses.

This feels like a classic bait-and-switch: low entry price to pull you in, then aggressive pricing for anything useful—while the platform itself remains unreliable.

My advice: forget it and move on. There are better tools coming, and when serious competitors step in, platforms like this won’t survive.

Worst company ever!!

Worst company ever!!! Lost my whole account! My work all gone! I was with them 2 months. I said because it was a waste of 2 months for them to refund the 2 months "THEIR POLICY" is to only refund one month😂 What a load of BS!
Stay away! Waste of time! It would be a good program IF IT ACTUALLY WORKED, but there are WAY too many bugs!! Save your money and go somewhere else!!!

Bad Support, Misleading Pricing Page

I am currently waiting for a refund. The product partially works but their support is worthless if you have an issue.

Their Cloned AI Avatar feature does not work as advertised and all support can do is to keep repeating the same troubleshooting steps over and over.

I would also caution anyone about to pay that while the Pricing page does not list any creation limits with a paid account, they do exist!

HeyGen Quietly Blocks India Payments and Breaks Subscriptions — Unusable and Untrustworthy

HeyGen has been a complete waste of time and money for me. My account has effectively been unusable for months. Checkout does not work from India no matter which card I use. No clear notice. No warning. No official explanation. Just endless errors and silence. That feels like being quietly locked out after paying for the product.

What makes this worse is that my active subscription was previously canceled by HeyGen themselves and they called it a mistake. Since then I have not been able to purchase a new monthly plan at all. I emailed support and got nowhere. If you are operating in a region then payment should work. If you are not then say it clearly instead of letting users burn time and money guessing.

The product quality does not justify this mess either. Competitors like Dreamina are simply better. Lip sync is more realistic. Body movement looks natural. Rendering is faster. The overall experience is smoother and more reliable. With HeyGen I am stuck fighting checkout errors instead of creating anything.

This feels unprofessional and careless toward international users, especially users in India. A paid AI platform that cannot handle subscriptions or communicate honestly is not trustworthy. Until HeyGen fixes payments, support, and transparency, I would strongly recommend staying away.

I lost acces to my gmail as google deactivated my account. I reached out HeyGen with this situation, expected it will be easy to solve this. However I was told If I havent access to my heygen account they cannot do anything and even through I have had paid pro membership, they said they cannot do anything. Very very unprofessional behavior. So remember, once you lose your gmail, or any other email, you will lose your heygen account as well with entire content in it.

HeyGen Support: A Never Ending Game of Simon Says and Hot Potato

I’ve been a paying HeyGen user for a while, building custom avatars and translated educational videos for multiple projects. At this point? I literally brace myself for something to break every single time I log in. If it’s not one bug, it’s another. Guaranteed.
Latest episode: There was a bug so I contacted support. They asked for a video but the support feature doesn't let you upload a video over 100MB. Second agent: “Share a screenshot instead.” Unhelpful because a photo obviously doesn't show the issue. Then tells me to try incognito and recreate the scene from scratch so issue can be isolated. I replied I am not able to do that. Cue agent #3 jumping in — classic hot potato — with a whole new set of random questions and suggestions. I finally had to say, Please stop switching reps and giving conflicting instructions. They eventually asked for a file-sharing link. I sent a Google Drive link set to “anyone with the link can view” + screenshot proof. Their response? “Still not accessible.” So to avoid another loop of deflection, I just uploaded via WeTransfer. Only THEN did they go, “Okay, we’ll escalate.”
That’s the never-ending game I have constantly experienced: real help only arrives after hours (sometimes days) of pushing back against scripted nonsense, revolving agents, and random “Simon Says” commands. One issue once took over a week to fix purely because of this back-and-forth circus, wasted time, wasted credits.
I’ve felt trapped because I built my custom avatar here and didn’t want to lose continuity. But now? I mentally add an extra week to every project just for the inevitable troubleshooting drama. Enough is enough.
If you’re thinking about using this or upgrading to Business, Executive, or Enterprise, please don’t. You’ll likely end up locked in with the exact same headaches.
HeyGen has flashes of brilliance when it actually works (rare), but the constant glitches and this exhausting, hot-potato support have completely worn me out. I’m done. Recreating my avatar on a competitor and never looking back.

I used Heygen for a whole year and used it intensively (120 minutes per week). I didn't use the more advanced avatars because I considered the movement excessive. The animated photos it generated were sufficient for me. But from December 1st, they changed their generation policy without warning of the consequences. They changed their rendering architecture to prioritize the "Avatar 3.0" and "Instant Avatar" models, which use credits. For users of the Pro plans who use simple lip-syncing (Talking Photo or basic models), the platform reduced the processing capacity for natural movements to encourage upgrading. But you can't subscribe to the more advanced plans without subscribing as a team, that is, for two people, even if you work alone. This doubles the cost. It's absurd. I'll have to consider abandoning Heygen for another platform given this change that reduced the quality of the production, which I liked, but which is now lamentable (with heads moving nervously or very still).

I am very disappointed in this company

I am very disappointed in this company. Their product works OK there are some bugs and glitches, but my complaint is more on what they are offering for plans and then what they deliver. The plans make it appear that you will get unlimited translation, but then when you start working, you find out you only get two hours. I looked clearly on the website, even called Apple’s technical support where they agreed it looked like a little deceptive marketing.

I purchased a 1‑year HeyGen…

I purchased a 1‑year HeyGen subscription for $289 in November, expecting to use the service for the full year. Instead, I was only able to use it for one month before being hit with unexpected demands for hundreds of dollars more in December.
Nothing in their checkout process made it clear that the subscription I paid for wouldn’t actually cover a full year of use. Now they’re asking for more money just to keep the service active — and based on this experience, I can only imagine they’ll ask for even more later this month or next.
This feels misleading at best and predatory at worst. Buyer beware — this company cannot be trusted. I regret the purchase and hope others avoid the same mistake.

On 12/15/2025, I received a response from HeyGen stating that if I replied, they would try to help me. Unfortunately, there was no way to actually respond other than editing my original review, which makes me think their reply was intended more for public perception than genuine customer support. This lack of direct communication is frustrating and reflects why the company has a 2.5-star rating.

I’m fairly new to AI, and I signed up for HeyGen after responding to one of their online advertisements. The offer was a one‑year subscription to their photo‑to‑video service for $289. The way the offer was presented made it sound like I would be able to create videos freely throughout the year.
However, after creating only six or seven videos—less than a month into my subscription—I was notified that I had already used all my credits. To continue creating videos, I was told I would need to purchase additional credits for another $300.
Since then, I’ve worked with other AI companies that provide much clearer explanations of how credits work, how far they go, and what users can expect. With that kind of transparency, I now understand the system much better. If HeyGen had provided that same level of clarity from the beginning, I would have gladly remained a customer for life.

This Website is a scam! If you upgrade your plan you get 120min of translation for videos, ect. But every 2nd time an error occurs and then you minutes are deducted anyway. So in the end I payed for 180min (because I was buying extra) but only was able to translate 60min, so only a third.
Support does not help at all...

Plan limits changed after I bought it and it also affected me

After I bought unlimited ai dubbing plan they introduced strict limits. I know that unlimited plans with ai are very rare option (and I know why) but If I paid for unlimited plan and they change it suddenly and it affects also me not only new customers this is clearly anti-consumer action

Poor customer service and predatory practices

Poor customer service, literally zero. Your credits reset every billing cycle even though you paid for them. They dont let you keep what you exchanged money for. Its a trash service and I would rather use a company that understands it can not function without the consumer. I hope the system gets digital aids and disappears

Terrible

I've been battling multiple tech issues in their video studio for weeks now, it's costing me time and money (credits) every time I try and fix things (I have to regenerate the video). I'm banging my head against the wall with Heygen support. Useless. Choose another platform.

Super good application, (5 stars) But it is impossible to cancel your subscription on the website (0 star). The only way to cancel it, creating a ticket. They are super fast to cancel, though. Average 2.5 starts, not 3.

They Charge You, Ignore You, and You Can’t Escape

My experience with HeyGen has been terrible. The platform gives you no real way to change your payment method or properly cancel your subscription, and once you suspend your plan, you’re basically stuck. I sent them a detailed support email, and instead of helping, they closed the ticket without giving me any answer.

Shortly after, they charged my card anyway, even though I was trying to remove my payment method — which the system doesn’t allow. The moment I add funds to my account, they instantly take the payment again.

At this point, I have no way to remove my card and no way to stop the charges, so I’ll be contacting a consumer protection agency and filing a formal complaint. This kind of customer service and billing management is unacceptable.
