Natural leather / synthetic leather
Seven years ago I bought a British fighter sheepskin flight jacket at a Higgs leather sale, at a good price. I have barely used it, six or seven days a year, about two months in total. The other day, when I took it out of the closet, I noticed that the tapes covering the seams were peeling, showing a fabric underneath. This indicates that these "leather" strips are not genuine leather but synthetic leather. The peeling appeared in different areas, giving the jacket a very bad appearance, ruining the jacket. I contacted the seller, exposing the problem and accompanying photos, asking for an explanation and a solution.
The explanation was as follows: "the description did not say that the binding on the seams was made of leather, only that the jacket was made of sheepskin and that the straps were made of leather." And the solution is that he could change the tapes, but the shipping and return costs to and from Spain, as well as the change of the tapes (not specified) were on my own. I could also take care of changing the tapes locally on my own, which would be cheaper for me.
In my opinion failure to mention, or hide that the binding were synthetic leather is bad faith or deception, so I do not consider him a reliable seller.
I have suggested that it might be okay to change the company name to Higgs synthetic leather, so as not to fool anyone. I don't think him will accept my suggestion.
