quite annoyed

i gave the seller too much benefit of the doubt as he had issuses keeping his business afloat, i wish i hadnt as i ended up losing my money for 3 preorders, because by the time i got tired of him making exscuses , lying or just ignoring emails, the period for getting money back from paypal had expired.

best of luck to him if his exscuses were genuine, but it doesnt change the fact that this experience was terrible, a waste of time and £, and left me quite annoyed

THEFT

Like others, I have seemingly been robbed by this store. I ordered a figure on the 8th June, never received a dispatch email, and now following up on this I realise the store's email no longer exists so there is no way for me to even contact about this item.

I am currently going through my bank to try and get my money back. In the mean time, DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE THEY WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY

An update for everybody.

An update for everybody.

I have been following this company's actions since I had issue with one of my orders. I have another review detailing that.

I highly reccomend you seek a refurnd through your bank or PayPal. I feel that is the only way you will get a refund now.

The company has been issued with a First Gazetter notice for Comulsory strike off, This means an application has been made to forcily close the company. This is a 3 month notice to the creditirs of the company that Companies House will strike the buisness off their register. This is the first of two formal warning letters.

Edit 05/09/24:

It looks like the website has been deleted, their instagram and facebook accounts are still up.

Ordered two nendoroids for release in…

Ordered two nendoroids for release in August 2023. No end of promises from Matt of them being on there way. As of January I have heard nothing at all from the owner of this company. Radio silence. Emails even won’t send, comments are off on social media and he’s ignoring messages on there too. I am owed £102. Disgusting person to do this to many people. Theft of money with no way of getting it back. Reported to trading standards and currently going to small claims. I believe in karma and I hope it gets you back good.

Avoid!!!!

I placed an order here back on the 9th in the hopes that It would arrive in time for my friend's birthday. I had saw that the website stated their store closed down, but it assured customers that it was still trading and handling orders placed online. This much was obvious as it clearly lets you continue to purchase from them.

Well my friend's birthday came and went and the item I ordered for them hasn't even dispatched and nothing has been stated about it. This guy took my money and sent nothing.

More suspiciously, they've deleted their twitter, tiktok and their facebook hasn't had any new postings since Sept 2023. Contacting them on instagram is useless as they dont respond.

I've now had to open up a chargeback dispute via my bank in order to get my money back.

DO NOT BUY FROM HOBBYULTRA.

No communication at all, and now emails are bouncing.

I hate leaving bad reviews, but in this case, I feel I have to.

I placed an order on the S.H. Figuarts Monkey D. Luffy on 27th December 2023. The shop was on a short break, so I knew there would be a small wait involved, but for weeks after they had returned from their break, I heard nothing about my order. It's now April, and there has been nothing but silence.

After months of waiting, and various emails that had gone completely ignored/unresponded to, I just tried to email to request a refund, but only recieve an automated reply that the "orders [at] hobbyultra.co.uk" email no longer exists moments later. As I paid with my debit card, I guess I'll have to go through the bank to try to request my money back. Thankfully, TamashiiNations is re-relasing the figure, so there is still a chance for me to add it to my One Piece SH Figuarts collection by ordering the re-release from elsewhere.

No information on orders

I have pre a ordered figure in 15. of December and have been getting no updates or messages about it although contacting their mail several times. I don’t care about the figure anymore just a refund is enough but the shop doesn’t care. I understand that they are going through hard times but that doesn’t mean you should ghost customers in any way. I don’t recommend anyone else to order from this shop.

I have waited a fair while

I have waited a fair while and given more than plenty of opportunities to settle this without a negative review, but unfortunately this is really my only option. I want to say firstly that generally, this shop is usually completely fine, and I acknowledge that the shop is currently going through unfortunate circumstances with their closure. However, I have been trying to reach someone about an outstanding order since the 5th of february, sending three seperate emails and three seperate instagram messages. I received no answer to any of these contact attempts. I don't think its a genuine attempt at a scam, rather I think the store has just fallen short on this occasion. Unfortunately, this doesn't change the fact that a pre order was placed nearly a year ago, and that as of yet I still have not received it, despite the fact that the item is now listed as "out of stock" on the website.

Please Can I Have A Refund?

I have 3 outstanding pre orders that I would like a refund for please. You are not replying to emails or Instagram messages and I don’t know where else to go? You have a lot of my money and I have nothing in return. I can see from your socials and responses you’ve had issues which is probably why I was slow to chase you up as I didn’t want to be that annoying demanding customer, however I think you’ve had ample time to act with an update. I’d just like a refund and to move on from this experience which is now greatly stressing me and causing concern. First pre order was placed in Jan 2023 and due out in summer 2023. But I know shipping delays and mezco aren’t always great so gave benefit of doubt. I also have two other pre orders. One that should have been here recently but isn’t. I was planning on going into the shop last week only to find out it has just closed. Please reply to people or give them some form of response because at this point I think people are just feeling scammed. It is sad that it has come to this as we would always visit the shop when in Leicester and I would recommend it to friends. Now with radio silence and things uncertain I don’t know what else to say. Other than please can I have a refund?

ADDED-
The annoying thing is that it technically isn’t my money that the shop has it’s my sons (11). I’ve taught him to save up for things and use his birthday / Christmas money and he doesn’t mind doing this and is willing to wait. So last birthday (Feb 2023) he used his money to pay for Godzilla figures (we initially paid and he gave us money) that were due out in the summer which I’ve seen on other stores now so must be out. This years birthday money was on a Godzilla figure due out Spring 2024. His friend from school also ordered from another online store and has it so I know for sure it is out. And the other thing that he saved up for is something Naruto due in April but I’m not holding my breath. Now I’d just like the money back so I can return it to him and he can buy from another shop if he wishes or save for another figure in case things have sold out (like the sh godzilla minus one). Luckily he’s pretty patient and understanding. I have been updating him with my efforts to contact the shop.

We have in the past ordered and pre ordered online and purchased in store and had great service and felt like we trusted this shop. There was only one little hiccup when we had pre ordered something and went to Leicester and saw it out on the shop floor. We asked if we could just pick up the pre order and we did. It wasn’t ours on the shelf that was behind the curtain but was easily rectified. So we had no issue pre ordering and waiting for these items. However now I feel like something isn’t right and I’d just like money returned and to be done with this saga

Scammed; reported to Trading Standards

I placed an order THIRTEEN months ago and as other reviews have mentioned, I was surprised that I was billed upfront for a preorder but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. All of my emails have gone unanswered and this is genuinely the worst customer experience I have ever had. I have reported Hobby Ultra Ltd to Trading Standards and I encourage other people in my situation to do so, Google 'Reporting to Trading Standards' for more information on this process.

This is so frustrating, I just want my money back.

I have been a customer of HobbyUltra…

I have been a customer of HobbyUltra for nearly 2 years now. I have had nothing but great experiences both in the store and online. There have been delays due to shipping issues beyond Matts control, but I have received every item I have ever ordered. It is a shame regarding the physical space being currently closed, but as Matt did post an update on the website regarding the issue, I felt informed. I look forward to coming to Leicester again to collect my goods as always.

Shop closedown

I hear that the shop in Leicester which is also the only registered address for the company has closed. For those who are not receiving replies from messages sent to the owner about goods not received it does raise the question of whether the company has stopped trading. Confirmation of whether this company is still trading and that customers can expect their goods soon would be useful from Mark, the sole owner of the company and shop. Look forward to seeing a response from you Mark.

Second time buying. This time much better

Second time buying from here. First time was, honestly, a nightmare. But this time I Ordered a figure for a really good price off the site. Delivery was slightly delayed by a few weeks but for legitimate reasons - stock had to be moved go a other unit. Matt was kind and refunded my postage. Item was well packed and came as described. Much better experience this time!

Such a shame.

Last year in October I pre-ordered the S.H Figuarts Guts from Berserk for around £70. It's now March 2024.

I sent countless emails asking for an update on my delivery, I received a few. I understand that "Matt" was dealing with some hardships at the end of 2023, we all do. But that's no excuse for ignoring the customers that have payed a sum (sometimes a lot) of money expecting to have their orders fulfilled.

In January I believe he emailed me telling me that it was going to come sometime in February, which of course... Never happened.

I even turned down a refund offered by him. The item I payed for was expected to come in the not so best condition due to the poor quality control of the product - Matt knew this. I don't want to jump to assumptions but it's as if he used this reason in his email to encourage me to get a refund because he might not even have my order.

I'll never know because at this time he doesn't seem to be contacting me, or anyone else back.

I was having high hopes for this store when I first read reviews last year, but it's clear it's been going downhill, which is unfortunate but that's what happens when you give poor service to your customers.

Awful online experience

Made a purchase in March 2023, expected to ship in September 2023, it is now February 2024 and the item still has not shipped. Sent multiple emails over the last month asking for an update - is the item still expected to ship? No clue - they ignored all my messages. Not even responding to my last one where I asked to cancel the order and be refunded. It's too late now for my bank to dispute the purchase so I guess Hobbyultra are just keeping my £100 and not fulfilling the order, apparently.

I understand that orders are delayed, I understand that stock issues happen, I am not mad that the item is delayed - I am mad at the total radio silence and not communicating these issues to customers who have already paid for their items, its unacceptable, do not shop here.

Great Customer Experience!

I'd like to express that Hobby Ultra in Leicester is fantastic. Despite being a small shop, it holds great potential. The highlight of any shopping experience is the customer service, and Matt and his team certainly excel in that aspect. They possess extensive knowledge about their products, and I must say, the prices are among the most competitive in Leicester.

Theft, I suppose

Pre-ordered an item over a year ago, now months overdue with no communication or response to emails. The shop asked for money upfront, which should have been a warning sign, as it's now too late for me to get a refund - shady. The item was limited edition and is currently sold out everywhere. Don't make my mistake!

While I sympathise with the owner's apparent struggles, I can't say losing a significant amount of money did my mental health any favours either.

April update, four months later: Still no refund, communication, or product. Emails now bounce, reducing the chances of getting that shipping notification to zero. Concerningly, their shop is still accepting orders. I hope Matt spent my £100+ on something nice, haha.

I find no reason to purchase from here again

I will try to be as honest and respectful as I can but I am still annoyed by this company's actions.

Although I had 2 previous good experiences I've unfortunately had to place the rating to one star. I had seen a figure as a pre-order, a Madoka Magica if it matters, to come out in April 2023, as I know some pre-orders can be delayed for several reasons I waited to see if it would arrive a month later or 2, and I remained patient but soon was left to discover that the figure in question on the website said sold out.

I emailed the company but had an automated response that due to an anime convention, they couldn't reply, I remained patient and sent another after a month and received the same automated email.

Soon another month went past and another email. Amazingly a week later and I received an email back, it was very apologetic and polite, it stated that the shipment would be made in mid-September and I could wait till then or have a full refund. I took the former offer and thought I could believe this. But it had still not arrived. I waited another week or so as delays could happen but still, I received no reply, another email another automated response that said I would be contacted in a few days which I knew would also turn out to be a lie as well.

With Christmas gone and now another break from the shop I feel guttered as I genuinely believe I won't see my figure or money back at all. If this is a matter that can be sorted out in person I would be more than happy to come in on the 15th January.

But now I see this is a regular occurrence after seeing the other reviews here. So far I see no reason to change the rating as you were aware of the delay and should've kept in contact to inform me of the other delay on top of that and I would like my money back or the figure.

In total, I've had to send 6 or more emails yet only had a reply to 1 which didn't solve anything.

Please just respond to emails or send more general updates as I've had to search online on social media just what's going on for updates.

Update: So far nothing yet but I now encourage anyone to please don't trust this shop anymore and try to get your money back through Paypal or your bank, don't wait too long for it and report this shop to Trading Standards. I fear I'll never see my money back again
