A Holiday Inn Disappointment

We’ve had a really disappointing experience with the Holiday Inn timeshare program. After buying in, we quickly realized the financial commitment was way more than we could handle. The monthly loan payments, which stretch well into our retirement years, have become a huge burden. On top of that, the annual maintenance fees are an ongoing cost we just can’t keep up with.
What’s worse is the impact this could have on our family. If our kids inherit this timeshare, they wouldn’t be able to afford the maintenance fees, which leaves us feeling really guilty.
Plus, our priorities have changed. Our kids are now married with families of their own, and we honestly get more joy out of visiting them than going on timeshare vacations. What we thought would be a good fit for us just hasn’t matched our reality, and now we feel stuck in a commitment we don’t benefit from anymore.
If you’re thinking about signing up for this program, we’d urge you to really think about the long-term costs—financially, logistically, and emotionally. For us, it’s been a stressful and disappointing experience.

We feel it’s necessary to share our…

We feel it’s necessary to share our story, hoping that others won't have to endure the same issues we've faced. When we first purchased the timeshare, the sales representatives assured us that we would gain access to luxurious vacations at discounted rates. They made it sound like this was going to be a dream investment for our family, allowing us to travel in style without draining our savings. However, none of these promises have been fulfilled. To make matters worse, the 2-bedroom unit that was guaranteed to us from the outset has never been available for us to use. It’s incredibly disheartening to realize that what we were sold has not reflected our actual experience.

We’ve been struggling with this purchase for quite some time, and the financial strain of continuing to pay for something that doesn’t deliver its promised value has been overwhelming. It’s impossible for us to justify pouring more money into a timeshare we simply cannot use. This situation seems to have no way out.

What’s even more disappointing is the lack of assistance we’ve received in trying to resolve these concerns. We’ve made multiple attempts to contact the resort directly to address the situation, but we’ve received little to no help. It feels like once the sale was finalized, all responsibility and accountability on their part disappeared. This lack of support and disregard for our concerns only adds to the frustration and disappointment we’ve experienced.

We trusted the sales representatives, believing their assurances that this timeshare would be a valuable addition to our family’s life. Instead, it has brought us nothing but stress, financial strain, and unmet expectations. We are hoping to resolve this issue by canceling the contract as soon as possible, but so far, no one has stepped up to help rectify the situation. Anyone considering a timeshare with Holiday Inn, think twice and proceed with caution.

Holiday Inn time share I regret for many reasons.

I regret my decision to invest in a Holiday Inn timeshare, as it has brought overwhelming financial and emotional hardship into my life. As a retired teacher living paycheck to paycheck, the timeshare has become an unbearable expense that I simply cannot afford, leaving me financially strained with little to no savings.

Every month, I struggle to meet my basic needs, including food, gas, and critical medical expenses. My health conditions, like diabetes, require ongoing treatment from specialists such as an endocrinologist, retina specialists for monthly eye injections, and a dietician, all of which are costly but essential. On top of that, my family obligations in Thailand, including travel expenses to support my wife's aging parents, add further pressure to an already challenging financial situation.

The burden of this timeshare has only added stress to my life, making it harder to focus on both my health and my family’s needs. I can’t even use the timeshare, as my circumstances don’t allow for travel, making it feel like a complete waste of money on something I can't benefit from.

This timeshare has created more harm than good, and I desperately hope to find a way out of this financial and emotional nightmare. For anyone considering a Holiday Inn timeshare, I urge you to think twice and fully assess whether this will truly suit your lifestyle and ability to manage such an expensive long-term commitment. For me, it has been nothing but a costly mistake.

We regret purchasing a Holiday Inn…

We regret purchasing a Holiday Inn timeshare, and unfortunately, our experience has been far from positive. We made this investment right before COVID, excited about the prospect of traveling more. However, life took a different turn with unexpected health issues, mounting medical bills, and financial hardships that made it impossible for us to use the timeshare as planned.

Now, with plans to relocate due to my husband’s job, we need to make critical financial changes, and the timeshare just doesn’t fit into our plans anymore. Despite contacting Holiday Inn to explain our circumstances, we haven’t been met with much understanding or flexibility in trying to amicably resolve this situation.

The inability to make adjustments for unforeseen life challenges has left us feeling trapped and disappointed. We’re sharing this review in hopes that others carefully consider the long-term financial commitment and lack of flexibility when deciding on a timeshare with Holiday Inn. If your circumstances change, you might find yourself in a frustrating and stressful position.

Owning this timeshare has been one of…

Owning this timeshare has been one of the biggest regrets of our lives. We were made to believe this was a smart investment for our family, but in reality, it’s turned out to be nothing more than a costly and frustrating distraction. The sales team painted a picture-perfect scenario, promising that we could sell it back if we no longer wanted it. What they didn’t mention were all the restrictions, hidden clauses, and outright impossibilities that make getting out of this contract feel like an uphill battle.

We also never got what we thought we were paying for. None of the benefits or experiences that were promised during the sales pitch have come to fruition. It’s beyond frustrating to realize that the entire setup seems designed to drain as much money as possible from owners while delivering little to no actual value.

This company’s business practices feel unethical and unfair. They pull people in with misleading promises and then conveniently omit critical details until it’s too late. Sadly, we fell for it, and what we thought was going to create unforgettable memories for our family has turned into a financial nightmare instead.

If you’re considering purchasing a timeshare here, please think twice. Do your research and read reviews like this one. Don’t fall into the same trap we did! I would not wish this experience on anyone. Be cautious and protect yourself from making the same mistake.

I’ve had a really disappointing experience with Holiday Inn’s timeshare service. Due to serious medical issues, my doctor has advised me not to travel and to stay close to medical care. I’ve been wearing a medical alert bracelet for months and, because my health is unpredictable, traveling just isn’t an option right now.

Even after explaining my situation and providing the necessary documentation, Holiday Inn has shown no empathy or understanding. I reached out hoping for some flexibility or support, but instead, their response has only added more stress during a really tough time.

I expected better from a company of their size and reputation. A little compassion and understanding can make a big difference, but that just wasn’t the case here. I really hope Holiday Inn rethinks how they handle situations involving customers who are dealing with health challenges.

Don't fall for this scam

I purchase what is suppose to be a package for 4 days 3 nights. I called to cancel indicating I would not be able to travel and they refused to reimburse the payment. Claiming it's said the package, that it's non refundable or transferable.

I never received a package, just a receipt. Was told it was good for a year.

I am canceling before it even expires in 2025, and getting this excuse.

There is a big sales push for the person to buy, but they are fine prints that are not disclose and should be in written.

Imposible to book a trip.

I have been an owner wit Royal Resorts in Cancun, never had any issues booking a trip.
Once I became a platinum member of HIVC, I can book up to 13 months in advance. I called and checked online for any availability at all the Resorts in the Yucatan. There is nothing available between now and 13 months from now. I checked with Expedia and they have availability at all the Resorts in the Yucatan anytime I want.
I sent emails and no response.
I am a very unhappy member.

The experience with this timeshare has been incredibly frustrating and disappointing. The costs associated with maintaining ownership are excessive, and despite my attempts to end the agreement, the company has been unhelpful. Serious personal challenges have prevented me from using the timeshare, but the company shows no care or consideration for these circumstances. On top of this, availability is almost non-existent, and the representatives offer no meaningful assistance. I strongly advise against getting involved with this company unless you’re prepared to waste money and face a lack of support when issues arise

Our experience with Holiday Inn

Our experience with Holiday Inn, Orange Lake has been extremely disappointing. We were initially told we were purchasing a vacation package, not a timeshare, but it has become clear that we were not told the truth. We received conflicting information about the program’s benefits and were promised it would be a valuable investment. However, the reality has been quite the opposite.

Instead of making a profit or being able to sell it as promised, the timeshare has become a financial burden. It has not increased in value, and we cannot even give it away. Attempts to return the timeshare have been unsuccessful, leaving us feeling discouraged about the entire arrangement.

As retirees on a fixed income, we are experiencing considerable stress, and the company has shown little concern for its members. If you are considering doing business with them, be cautious. Based on our experience, this company has not delivered on its promises and has left us with deep regret. We would like to be free from this timeshare nightmare.

The shortcomings of this timeshare have…

The shortcomings of this timeshare have been overwhelmingly frustrating. The financial obligations, including maintenance fees, property taxes, and special assessments, have grown to be excessive and unsustainable. These recurring charges far exceed what was initially expected, creating significant financial strain.

Additionally, utilizing the timeshare has proven to be an ongoing challenge. Securing reservations is extremely difficult, and the process lacks the flexibility needed to accommodate various schedules. The limited availability and complicated booking requirements make it nearly impossible to benefit from the promised vacation opportunities. Instead of providing value, the timeshare has become an impractical and expensive commitment.

Overall, the lack of transparency regarding costs and the inflexible usage policies make this timeshare a regrettable investment. It seems tailored more to benefit the company than to provide meaningful value to its members. I would strongly caution others against entering into this type of agreement without fully understanding the long-term financial and practical implications.

zero stars

I wish I could give this experience zero stars. Our timeshare with Holiday Inn Vacation Club has been a nightmare. Here’s what happened:

It began with a stay at the Even Hotel, an IHG resort in NYC in December 2018. By 2019, IHG offered us a promo getaway at Orange Lake Resort near Disney in Orlando, FL: 3 nights, $200, and a meal during the "tour." When we arrived, starving after skipping breakfast, we were told there’d be no meal—just chips and soda.

The "tour" started with luxury villas and ended with hours of relentless sales pitches. Despite a firm "we’re not buying anything," we caved after three rounds of aggressive persuasion. They used high-pressure tactics, slashed prices to create FOMO, and even said things like, “Don’t you want to save money and pass this on to your kids?” Exhausted and hungry, we bought 30k points, sold as a flexible system for luxury vacations, roll-over points, and global resorts. None of it was true. A year’s worth of points barely paid for one hotel night.

Fast forward three years. We could hardly use our points, but during an "owners orientation" in New Orleans, the nightmare repeated. Sick and masked, we were pressured again into another contract with promises of three free nights and $400. They convinced us to upgrade to VIP status and add 40k points at the Ridge Resort in Lake Tahoe, promising "premier access" and new benefits. None of it was real. The “premier access” expired before we could use it, and the bonus points disappeared.

When we finally took a vacation, we got stuck in a subpar suite, far from what they lured us in with. They included “Interval” for exchanges, but finding availability was nearly impossible, especially in our region. Yet again, the promises felt meaningless.

Our experience with Holiday Inn Vacation Club has been full of broken promises, high-pressure sales tactics, and no care for customers. We feel deceived, financially drained, and stuck in a system with no real value. I wouldn’t recommend this timeshare to anyone. Stay far away.

I regret purchasing the Holiday Inn Club Vacations…

I regret purchasing the Holiday Inn Club Vacation package. I initially bought it before COVID, but whenever I attempted to use it, the locations I wanted were fully booked. My purchase ended up expiring unused—a complete waste. Despite this frustrating experience, they called me again and convinced me to give it another try, promising a better experience. However, the same problem persists. Now, as the expiration date looms (July 8, 2025), I find myself unable to book any desired dates or locations, as they are all fully booked yet again.

This has left me feeling that the entire scheme is a scam. IHG, a brand I have long associated with excellent customer service, should not affiliate with such an operation. This experience falls far below the high standards IHG is known for, and it has been nothing but disappointing.

Disappointed

I wish I could say our experience with Holiday Inn Timeshare was positive, but unfortunately, it has been a major disappointment. We initially purchased the timeshare with the hope of creating more family memories, especially as we planned for retirement from the Army. However, it's turned into a huge financial burden.

The rising costs and maintenance fees, which are inconveniently due right after the holidays, have made it difficult for us to provide for our kids during Christmas. On top of that, we rarely even get to use the timeshare. For the amount we've been paying, we could have saved for actual family vacations that would have been much more worthwhile.

This has been nothing close to what we were promised, and we deeply regret signing up. If you're considering a timeshare, I highly recommend evaluating other options or avoiding the stress altogether.

I wish I could give zero stars

I wish I could give zero stars. Our experience with the Holiday Inn timeshare has been nothing short of a nightmare. When we purchased this back in 2019, we were promised a cost-effective plan tailored to our future retirement travels. Instead, we were pressured for 5–6 hours by multiple salespeople who wouldn’t take no for an answer. Even when my husband stepped outside due to anxiety, they followed him out. Looking back, it was a clear case of high-pressure sales tactics.

What’s worse, they were never honest about the contract's permanence. We were falsely told we could pass it down to our children, but no one mentioned that we’d essentially be locked into this forever. On top of that, the rising fees were conveniently avoided during the sales pitch. Yet, in the first year alone, maintenance fees and dues increased, adding to our financial stress.

Now, we can’t even use the timeshare effectively. Availability is always limited, and even when we try to book, we don’t have enough points to enjoy more than 3–4 days. The final insult came during a recent “mandatory update” meeting, where a sales rep had the nerve to tell us “you can’t do much with 60,000 points.” That’s NOT what we were sold on initially.

To make matters worse, my husband has undergone multiple surgeries since 2020, leaving him out of work and us financially strapped. These timeshare fees have become an added burden during an already difficult time.

Clearly, this is not the retirement dream we were sold—it’s a financial and emotional nightmare. I wouldn’t recommend a Holiday Inn timeshare to anyone. Save yourself the headache and choose a company that values transparency and honesty

We had a very disappointing experience…

We had a very disappointing experience with Holiday Inn and their timeshare program. We purchased the timeshare in January, only to realize that it wasn’t feasible for us to use it more than twice a year due to the limited points we received. When we did use it, the experience was far from what we were promised.

The room we were assigned was nothing like the one we were shown when they sold us the timeshare at the same resort. The difference was shocking and misleading. On top of that, the toilet in our room was constantly running, which was extremely annoying, and despite calling for maintenance, no one showed up to fix it. We also had to have the toaster replaced because it was broken when we arrived.

Unfortunately, shortly after purchasing the timeshare, our lives drastically changed. My wife had a heart attack in March, which led to severe complications, including kidney failure. By November, she was on dialysis seven days a week, and the complexity of traveling now includes bringing her dialysis machine and supplies, sanitizing the rooms ourselves, and other logistical challenges. This makes it nearly impossible for us to take any vacations.

The financial burden of the timeshare payments, combined with our medical expenses, has created a situation where we deeply regret making this purchase. We also feel deceived by the misleading sales pitch and misrepresentation of the rooms. Buying this timeshare has brought us nothing but stress and frustration. I would not recommend Holiday Inn’s timeshare program to anyone.

Regret getting involved

I really regret getting involved with the Holiday Inn timeshare. What started as an exciting idea for family vacations has turned into a huge financial headache and endless frustration.

First off, we were told we had to buy an Interval International membership to bank our week and trade it for other resorts. That meant more membership fees on top of our already steep monthly payments. If we missed their strict deadlines, we couldn’t bank our week and were either stuck using it at the original location or losing it altogether.

Even when we managed to bank our points, we ran into another issue. We lost a bunch of points because we didn’t renew our Interval International membership on time. Points we had already banked were gone forever, and we couldn’t bank future weeks either. It felt like no matter what we did, the system was designed to make us lose.

We originally thought this would be a great investment for our kids, but it’s turned out to be a total money pit. The annual fees alone are insane 1,581.22 a year, and they just keep going up. Instead of being something for our kids to enjoy, it’s become a financial drain. That money could’ve been so much better spent, like on college tuition or a down payment for a car.

Holiday Inn’s timeshare program has been nothing but misleading, full of hidden fees, and way too complicated. I honestly wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who wants a stress-free vacation. Think carefully before signing up. It’s really not worth the money or the hassle.

Our experience with the Holiday Inn…

Our experience with the Holiday Inn timeshare has been pretty disappointing. While the one time we actually used our timeshare at the designated property was nice, clean, and enjoyable, the overall experience has been more frustrating than anything else.

We ended up with a smaller package that came with restrictive blackout dates, making it almost impossible to book during good travel times. This really limited how much we could actually use the timeshare we were paying for. On top of that, the constant fees—maintenance fees, annual member fees, and more—just keep piling up, making it feel more like a financial drain than a good investment.

We thought this timeshare would give us flexibility and fun vacations, but instead, it’s been a big source of regret. If you’re thinking about getting one, don't!

Nightmare

My experience with Holiday Inn Club Vacations has been a complete nightmare. Their customer service is impossible to work with. They do not see a person, only a profit. Do not sign or agree to anything they present you. I have a contract that seems impossible to get out of. They expect you to pay for a service that is not worth it.

My wife and I are deeply disappointed…

My wife and I are deeply disappointed with our experience with the Holiday Inn timeshare. Life circumstances, including personal health issues (I had a TIA stroke in 2023), have made it virtually impossible for us to plan vacations, leaving the timeshare completely unused since we purchased it. Unfortunately, we believe we're sending money to something we just can’t use.
The maintenance fees are another major issue for us. They keep increasing, making it financially unsustainable for us in the long run. To make matters worse, on the rare occasions we’ve been able to plan time off, there were no desirable locations available.
Holiday Inn’s timeshare program has been a frustrating and costly commitment for us, and we strongly regret our decision to invest in it. We sincerely hope the company takes these customer concerns seriously because as of right now, this appears to be a one-sided deal.
