Straight forward process
Purchasing travel insurance was straightforward, it clearly stated what was covered and what wasn’t . I have used this company a number of times this year but have never claimed so no experience in that way. However gappy with the process and the price.

I wanted to declare the use of a pharmacist supplied weight management medication to be totally honest and transparent. I went through the process to add a medication and they wanted a lot more money plus they added £200 medical excess.
I went to another Which recommended provider who I discussed taking weight management medication and they said it did not have to be declared.

Impossible to update my medical details
I have been trying to update my medical details since yesterday, first by my online account which didn't work, second by online chat who told me to call and third by telephone. I have now spoken with 3 customer service advisers and each one has told to call back later. The first said they were from the call back team and couldn't help me, second said the system was down so they couldn't help me and the third told me they were from the call back team and couldn't help and also said the system was both down and going slow for other adviser giving quotes. I have tried requesting a callback but there are no timeslots available before we travel. I have also sent a message within my online account and heard nothing back. I'm now very concerned that this isn't a reputable company who are taking their customers seriously.

Understandable health screening
Straight forward online application but would appreciate local call centre
Very expensive
I have been a loyal customer for a number of years with no claims. My renewal premium recently on a worldwide travel policy increased from £1100 to £1800 for reduced cover. I contacted them to add a new medical condition because my partner had a hip replacement operation and was quoted an additional premium of £1600. This seems much too expensive. I have switched to another company, with same/better customer reviews. The premium is similar but there is no extra charge for the medical condition.
Holidaysafe included cover a few years ago, at no extra cost, when my partner had the other hip joint replaced. Why is it now so expensive?
This is a very poor way of treating loyal customers but what I have come to expect of insurance companies in. general

If you have a pre existing condition be cautious using Holidaysafe!
Tried to explained that I would be travelling 7 weeks after a hip replacement on Eurostar for 3 day break, after my consultant would have cleared me for driving and surgical complications. Holidaysafe totally did not get it! Because I was not 8 weeks clear from surgery they were not happy! Why 8 weeks heaven knows, obviously their underwriters must know more than a clinician! If I were flying then I can understand but honestly this defies logic! Go to staysure or another company where they keep up to date with surgical procedures. Hips are being done as day cases in many hospitals and recovery times are much shorter risks are much fewer but some companies have not updated their knowledge. Well they are the ones who will fail to get new customers or retain existing ones if attitudes remain with the ark!

Clunky website. Quite expensive
Although Which? Magazine gave this company a good rating I found their website slow to respond and clunky. Several times I was typing to find letters so slow to appear that I thought it was frozen. Finding the right categories for destination was a pain. Turkey seems to be missing from any group. The drop down menus were awful.
I'm not sure if the quote was for what I wanted.

Renewal experience
Quote didn't include our previously declared medical conditions. When trying to add them the quote disappeared which meant I lost my renewal discount. As a result I had to ring up and it was an Asian call centre which was not easy to understand, this was a particular problem when going through the medical questions where they pronounce words differently.

Waste of time based on company giving wrong informationOn making a claim for a cancelled…
On making a claim for a cancelled flight/new booking due to the power outage in Portugal, I was told that I was covered but needed certain documents and to wait until I had been reimbursed. I waited and in the meantime got the documentation together. I spent time both online and on the phone - trying to get a flight delay report from the airline. I had difficulties with this and am very frustrated that I spent so much time as it turned out to be in vain as at the end I was told by Holidaysafe that I wasn't in fact covered. Why was this not clear at the start? This is not about the rights or not of the cancellation cover - it was about being given the wrong information and wasting time.
1st time making an insurance claim
1st time making an insurance claim. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't as much hassle as I'd expected.
I received claim amount 2 weeks after submitting claim. I made sure all information & evidence was correct before even submitting claim i.e. their doctors form completed not just a doctors letter , various confirmations and invoices correct and accounted for etc.
Calling for information / updates wasn't the best as call centre operators seemed somewhat confused but eventually we got there and all was well in the end.
