So sexist! I co-own jointly home with my spouse, do all finances etc but correspondence sent only to him. Also huge delays in responding to any communication. I’d give minus 5 stars if I could.

Terrible customer services
I have been with Hollard for more than 8 years and recently cancelled my policy after speaking with Kye from their customer services. Their services are not only declining but staff are unknowledgeable and encouraging clients to leave Hollard for other more competent and way cheaper insurers. I regret waiting that long with Hollard while other insurers have better customer services and 50% less in quotes than Hollard.
Avoid at all costs
I gave them one star as I couldn’t give zero. By far the worst experience I’ve had with dealing is such matters. A car insurance claim that took over 3 months. I spoke to 15 different people and each time my file had to be reviewed !! No one ever calls back including the Claims department. And each time you call you have to go through 7 options. I should have known I was in for trouble when they botched up the hire car procedure Avoid at all costs
Do not insure with Hollard.
Do not insure with Hollard.
We are very disappointment with Hollard Insurance.
They declined our claim despite regular maintenance with yearly waterproofing of our roofing.
Had to deal with an abrupt and unprofessional claims officer. Being a long time customer got no support from their end when we needed them.
Do not consider signing up with these rude and unprofessional Insurance.
This isn't the Commonwealth Bank, its a shonky South African Company
I wouln't give this mob even 1 Star, except I had to, to post this review.
My experience with their call centre staff has been dreadful. I called once for information on how to claim, - didn't get the right advice.
After lodging a claim online I get a call from a bloke who asked questions about my claim (all of which was written on the claim form) Then he told me that the claim couldn't be paid because my "cover lapsed in October because it hadn't been renewed". I disputed this and gave him details of my payments each month. He put me on hold for 20 minutes, before coming back and agreeing that I was in fact still covered. Needless to say, my claim was never paid.
You'll never get a straight answer from them via email either. They tend to avoid answering specific questions.
Stay away from them.
Gotta be the worst insurance company…
Gotta be the worst insurance company ever
Car hit by truck truck admits fault
Even not at fault incidents they don’t wanna know ya
Their current tactic is to not return calls or emails
Thinking there might be a bit of take what they can and run from upper management
No company in Australia should be allowed to run like this mob does
Very disappointed with Hollard…
Very disappointed with Hollard Insurance as they rejected our claim in a cunning way; they are manipulating and they made us confused by making us go to AFCA for help, then the AFCA person did the same thing; are they Hollard’s staff working in a different office? I would not recommend Hollard to anybody. Zero stars if I could.

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING COMPANY.
ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING COMPANY.
AVOID at all cost! We were put onto Hollard via our CBA mortgage broker. She knew her stuff so we assumed they would too.
We had to make a claim regarding water ingress through our slab.
They sent a builder to look at a water leak. Not a plumber! They then said that they were satisfied with his account.
It was only when pressed that we hadn’t seen a plumber they sent one out. They also sent out a hygienist to carry out a “ make safe”.
He removed all of our skirting, damaged our window frames and removed parts of our underlay.
When asked WEEKS later if someone was coming back to reinstall said skirting, and underlay we were told no. The matter was closed.
We have 4 young children who now can’t play in the living room due to nails petruding from bottom plates, and exposed metal from plaster walls. Yet Hollards says this is now safe.
These people are crooks. I’m amazed that this company can still operate in this country. Seriously they should be shut down.
Failed to find the driver who hit my…
Failed to find the driver who hit my car and demanded me to pay for the cost of repair
Full on scam
Shocking with no proper professional emails and receipts. Total scam.
RUN!!!
RUN!!!! They are an awful company! They don't give a shit and will do anything they can to get out of whatever they can in a claim. We had two trees fall on our house during a storm. We now have mould growing in our ceiling and water damaged ceilings they are claiming was like that before. The repair on the roof was ugly, wrong tile colour used. same for the gutters. The roof was still leaking we had to pay for someone to complete the repair and the gutters they were replaced were patchwork bits and pieces that don't seal properly or match the other gutters right so they leak as well. Their repairman replaced a tile with a hole in it so we had more leaking in a new spot and ceiling damage and they just wipe their hands of all of this! Their is a reason they had such a bad rating. I'm so mad! This is going to cost us thousand possibly 10s of thousands to get fixed. I've have taken it to the ombudsman and even without outside reports from qualified people stating the damage is due to the storm and the poor repairs and they still say they don't believe it was from the storm based on the dodgy reports their team wrote up! This has cause so much stress and inconvenience I can't even tell you! Hollards you are going to go under! You are the worst! I would rate 0 stars if I could!

Never ever insure with this crooks.
Most dishonest accessors they can get so to deny claims. Took more than 6 months plus several different trade persons to access the damages & yet all the trade persons found no cause except due to overflow due to heavy rain -storm damaged . couldn't find a reason after more than 10 months, then claimed to be poor construction of the windows but couldn't find bubbling on the wall/ceiling.Then also tried to claim that we ( or our builder) repaired the work before...Full of rubbish. So dishonest that i had to complaint to the AFCA to ask them to cough out for all the damages their trade persons made. we are moving out from this scambag insurance company
Brian Vanderwest-huizen was extremely…
Brian Vanderwest-huizen was extremely rude to me during our phone call for a claim and gave me the third degree during a time that has been extremely difficult for me with our tenant. CBA used to be good with insurance, I have been with them for over 15 years insuring multiple things but that may be a thing of the past now after the way I was treated the other day by this man.
Twice bitten with Hollard.
Re claim- 222-02-048235
We had a small fire in our house which damaged carpet in our hall, and a display cabinet. We were very lucky to have escaped from this with minor damage.
I thought our claim would be straightforward but over 3 months after the event we are still having issues with Commonwealth / Hollard Insurance.
It has been months of constant emails and phone calls to try to prompt them into some sort of action. With rarely a return email or phone call.
When you do call them you are nearly always transferred to someone else only to be put back to the phone button prompts to eventually speak with someone else who wants to transfer you again.
Is this deliberate? I hope not.
We eventually got new carpet laid in our affected hallway but it does not match the adjoining rooms which run off it. The sample shown to us was a near perfect match. And yes we signed a document accepting possible colour variations. However the new carpet laid is not even close to the existing carpet colour . This is not acceptable and our house has not been restored to its original condition.
We have made a complaint re the carpet and they offered us $700 compensation. It will probably cost over $5000 to rectify.
We refused their offer and they said they would get back to us with an answer. Which of course they haven’t.
The only contact we have had since is a request for the policy excess.
What a cheek!
I feel we have been very patient regarding the processing of this claim, but in my opinion the procrastination, lack of contact, poor follow up and quite frankly the neglectful disregard of our claim has been quite stunning and we will be taking this further.
We cancelled our car insurance a few years back with Commonwealth Insurance / Hollard following an equally poor experience. I had hoped it was a once off and that our home insurance would yield a different result. Alas no.
We payed for a service and have received little in return. God knows what we would have done if our house had burnt down.
I would personally never sign up with Commonwealth / Hollard Insurance again.
Sending recovery agents to their own customers
They would first keep you hanging for a long time, won't respond and when you have given the car for repairs, they will find out a way to get more excess out of you. Now as your car is already in the repair center, have already rented a car, you don't have any other option but to pay up the excess.
They will make a bully call you and talk you down and call you a lier to maximise recovery from excess. The bully didn't let me talk and disconnected when I protested. From his opinion I should just let him speak and I should accept what ever rude statements he made and be thankful to him that he is talking to me. I got a vibe of a colonist trying to talk down "other" person, as he has no time for me and I should be grateful that he is talking to me on phone. Something I thought we have left in the past.
I have been their customer for nearly a decade, and the moment I needed their support, they started finding out how to find me at fault and ask for additional excess.
I have now understand their strategies they use now. I am out now. I will find someone who is not hollard.
If possible it would be a minus rating
If possible it would be a minus rating. Company are pitiful, had my not at fault accident 20 weeks ago and still waiting for my car to be repaired and they are still deducting my monthly payment when the vehicle hasn’t moved. Get the absolute run around every time I call, different person at every call and no noted taken after each phone call. Had an assessor appointed to my case and continued to tell me I should be grateful he organised me a loan car which is unroadworthy by the way. Looking at different companies for when I eventually get my brand new car back. Had the new car less than 6 months and $30,000 worth of damage that they “are repairing”
ABSOLUTELY disgusted in Hollards insurance and the way they’ve treated me the not at fault driver, still recovering from the accident and dealing with the stress from not having my car repaired.
WOULD NOT RECOMMEND Unless you want to…
WOULD NOT RECOMMEND Unless you want to pay for insurance that you will not be covered for as they will try everything to get out of.
Finding out after the fact that they have been done by the government for skimping and underpaying clients who have put in claims from Lismore/Shepparton/Byron bay and only paying out not even half of content and house insurance, now in hindsight that im going through EXACTLY the same issues, I would run as fast as I can from signing with CBA.
Coming up to 7 months of fighting with CBA/Hollard’s insurance, the storm incident happened on the 15th of November 2024 and it is currently the 30th of April 2025 and we are still fighting with no end in sight!
CBA have sent out 2 assessors and 1 engineer to write reports as they weren’t happy with the amount our quotes from private builders came too, The original assessor and engineer BOTH agreed and reported that all damaged items were no longer safe and/or non-compliant under Australian standards so all damaged items now needed to be demolished and rebuilt. These two reports from the assessor and Engineer both match what our own private builder and tank builder have stated as well.
We have been waiting 5 months for them to finalize that section of sending people out, waiting for reports ect, but they still weren’t happy with that either so they have recently sent out an internal assessor (whom I might add was quite rude and acted like she was above everyone else) This internal assessor has come back and said the COMPLETE OPPOSITE to what CBA’S own original assessor and engineer have said and REPORTED might I add!
This internal assessor is trying to settle the amount as she says (I HAVE THE LAST SAY) Now to put this in perspective she is trying to settle an amount that is over $130,000 dollars in different to the quotes that have been provided to CBA and also is $90,000 dollars in difference to their own sub-contractors Johns lyng who put in an amount that it would cost for repairs/replacement and yet this internal assessor has come in at a completely different figure, not even anywhere near their own sub contractors quote.
The internal assessor has let me know that “She has the last say” so I will have to try take it further which I will be as they are trying to rort the system and rip off innocent paying customers who are only trying to get their items fixed and/or replaced.
Again, I DO NOT RECOMMEND
Terrible customer service
Terrible customer service, call to cancel a car insurance as it has been sold. Waited more than 2 hours and 40 Minutes, nobody answered my phone. Had to leave for work. Then called again in the evening, waited 50 minutes, then my phone was picked then hanged straight away without even a word. Will not recommend hollard insurance to my worst enemy.
This is the worst company I have ever…
This is the worst company I have ever dealt with, I am now seriously considering changing my banking as well!!
my policy was cancelled in 2020, but they did not action this and continued to keep taking my money, they now owe me $3500+ No one leaves notes or reads them, no one will help, The customer service are patronising, Refuse to let me speak to a manager. I am now going to the ombudsman!
