Hello books are great but don't really break down the learning part. My grandson hasn't learned anything and he 3 yrs old..maybe just to young at this point.

Hi Johanna, thanks for your review and feedback! We're sorry for any confusion. For a 3 year old, we would recommend using the Pre-reader section of the program, where he will learn the alphabet and all of the letter sounds first. There are notes at the beginning of workbook sections that state, for example: "Complete the first lesson in Step 1 of the App, then return to this page...etc." We suggest completing each App step before starting the corresponding pack section.
Then, have your grandchild work through the workbook until they reach a page that actively prompts you to take out and use a physical book on a page titled "Read". You can read the book together (for Pre-readers). Some sections will include more review than others, and you'll know it's time to return to the App when you come to the next Learn section, with another text prompt as mentioned above directing you back to the App.

We LOVE hooked on phonics!
I enjoy the simplicity of the program, it is easy for me to do with my 3 year old.
My daughter enjoys the games on the app, we sing the songs together and it is very fun!
The books are AWESOME.
She could only recognize two letters before we began and know she can recognize letter names AND sounds of 18 letters!

APD Friendly
My son has Auditory Processing Disorder, for this reason we homeschool and follow a visual curriculum. However, that wasn't enough for him to pick up on phonics. I decided to pull the trigger on Hooked on Phonics, within 2-3 weeks he was picking up on CVC words. He's come a long way. We're grateful for this program.

I love hooked on Phonics! We decided to sign up for it when our foster son came to us. He was so far behind. After only 3 months of using it he is almost caught up with his grade level. I love the books that they send every month to go along with the online lessons.

The packets were easy to follow and the my little guy loved the stars(awards) as he progressed through each packet.
Definitely sharpened his attention and ability to distinguish his letter and word sounds.

I ordered this program for my…granddaughter
I ordered this program for my granddaughter who was struggling in school due to her poor reading skills. her school does not teach phonics anymore or how to sound out words they just expected her to remember to words. Hook on phonics has been amazing we work on it the entire summer it was super easy to use and they made it fun for her she greatly improved in her reading she is in the 4th grade this year has is almost where she needs to be now. I would recommend this to anyone it is the best thing I could have ever done for my granddaughter.

I love this program
I love this program! My daughter struggled learning how to read and I have tried many other methods and she just couldn’t grasp the concept. I finally tried hooked on phonics and within a few days she was reading sight words and spelling! It was a life changer! I would recommend this program to anyone!

Worth every penny!! Communication was only when needed and included very helpful tips on what my child should spend more time on. Books are so well done and activities are creative.
