As a Canadian, when I found out that Hootsuite is openly and “proudly” working with ICE, I immediately became incredibly angry and disappointed. For the CEO to come out and say that they will continue... See more

Buyer beware
Buyer beware! First - an outdated, clunky interface. Did not support TikTok - one of the most important social media channels?! We moved on to a more flexible and modern option (Zoho Social). Secondly - we had an annual subscription. They require TWO MONTHS notice to cancel the NEXT years' service. The person who signed the agreement left and we were not aware of the terms. We confirmed to terminate the agreement with 54 days notice before the end of the year (instead of 60) and Hootsuite refused to release us for the following year from a service that e clearly did not use. I've never had an experience where a business is so predatory with their terms. But I guess you have to be when the product itself is a poor value. If a company has such little faith in the value of its product, why would you buy it?
EDIT: We have had many discussions with our billing rep about this and I assure you they don't care and won't do anything.

Charged for no reason
I used the trial service to test and see if their service will suite my needs.
Unfortunately it was not meeting my expectations, therefore I cancelled the trial.
Sadly, they decided to charge me out of nowhere for 1 month, setting up an automatic monthly renewal plan for £129[not including tax].
I raised a ticket to solve the issue, but with no solution. It seems like these sort of scams are completely allowed.
I would recommend to avoid at all cost.
Their service is probably worth £10 a month.

We like using Hootsuite for our basic…
We like using Hootsuite for our basic marketing needs. However, they recently increased our monthly subscription rate from £21 to £129. This seems incredibly unfair and unreasonable. I don’t know any business to increase their monthly rates by this much (it’s over a 500% increase in price). Be careful joining. They’ll start with a low price model and then increase it excessively after a short time. I appreciate that costs rise, especially given inflation at the moment. But this increase is beyond acceptable. We don’t even use any of the new features they claim to be behind the price increase. They should keep a basic model for those that just need the platform for simple scheduled posts.
We are now on the hunt for a new platform and luckily there’s quite a few a
We thought it was a mistake at first, but having spoken to a customer service rep (no telephone line- only by email), it proved to be correct. Really rather shocking, and we now have a month to transfer over all our social media to a new platform.

Customer service non-existent (and they admit it!)
The service is OK, sort of - but they keep having technical problems.
But the worst thing is their customer service, which is absolutely terrible. I've been trying to get an answer to a technical problem since November - it is now February. They just don't bother to reply.
EDIT: And yes, Alina was in contact briefly a few weeks ago, and has done absolutely nothing, and is now also refusing to reply to my emails. So Hootsuite, please don't try to make out that everything is fine. Solve the problem for me, instead of wasting time trying to make it seem like you're doing something when you are not!
2ND EDIT - Another month has passed and still nothing, except an email from someone on the Hootsuite Platform Team who explained that their technical support is (I quote) "practically non-existent". He did ask a few questions and implied that he would get back to me, but predictably enough, I haven't heard a thing.
3rd EDIT - Apologies for naming one of the Hootsuite employees in my previous post - that has been removed. Interesting that they have time to read and complain about Trustpilot reviews, but apparently are too busy to answer my question. Obviously they're more worried about appearing to give good service than actually giving it.

Do not sign up for Hootsuite!!!!!!
Do not sign up for Hootsuite!! It is a scam & the customer service is awful. My account has not been connected to my social media for years (because I switched my handles) so they can even see that my account was dormant and not being used. Every hootsuite report I have sent to me in my email says 0% for posts, followers and engagement which shows there has been no use and suddenly after 5+ years instead of charging me $119/year (the amount I agreed to when I signed up) I was charged $588/yr TWICE for the past two years! I did not catch this because I do my accounting for my business at the end of the year & they will not refund me my $1,176 for the past two years that I never agreed to! I would not complain if it was the $119 that I signed up with but an over $400 price increase that I didn't agree to is unacceptable. I just went in and canceled my account and my annual subscription that was set to renew in March was now $1,188 - an over $500 increase over last year and over $1,000 increase over what I initially agreed to when I signed up!!!!!! They keep raising the prices hoping you won't notice like me, scam, scam, scam, stay FAR away!!

This is a scam company
This is a scam company. They charge your card in the trial period, even after you cancel and remove your credit card information. They still are charging me.

Hard to get ahold of but they will correct mistakes
Initially I had a problem with a surprise billing related to an employee not cancelling before the trial period.
Although you’ll never get a live human, if you are patient and send emails that weirdly reply automatically that make you feel like you aren’t get him anywhere, they will resolve your problem. It just seems like it’s all AI or whatever, welcome to the future I guess.

Outraged. What the hell is hootsuite.
What a sham of a company. No responce from hootsuite. After cancelling a year ago after not liking the app after trying it for a day or so, we left hootsuite. Today I have just been billed for over £1200 for an app!!! One I don’t use or even have installed. No one has responded to my emails. £1200!!! Shame on you.

Payment taken without notice on dormant account
Payment of £1.3k taken from bank account with no warning and our account has been dormant.
I have escalated via PayPal to raise a merchant dispute after trying to speak directly with Hootsuite. After speaking with my bank I am now undertaking the painstaking painful process of cancelling my bank account and all outgoing payments due to the recurring payment set up on my account. If raising a dispute with PayPal ensure you activate your buyers protection instead of unauthorised transaction. Avoid at at all costs.
UPDATE 13/01/2024 - Still no update from Hootsuite

Cost went up significantly but may still be the best option
Despite higher fees, Hootsuite were attentive to the problem and helped to resolve it for us. We would consider going back now.

Charged twice within a month on the same account number. £561.60 in November, then Just a few days later £1,281.60. Of course, no support at the weekend.... Thats neary 2K for a service that cost just shy of £300 in 2020. Beyond dissapointed.
I’ll post an update, dependent on the outcome. But as of now, this review stands.

Good starter hub for social media management, but not worth the price increase
This was a helpful site for starting out as a social media manager for my organization, allowing me to aggregate all our accounts in one place and schedule all posts at one time. The automatic link shortener, Owly, was also a bonus. However, it was sometimes difficult to edit posts, some features were unavailable on Hootsuite that were accessible through the original platform (like Facebook Stories) and the recent news of a nearly doubling price increase has made my company decide that the benefits no longer outweigh the cost, and we will be cutting out a third party management system entirely and managing our social presence directly from the platforms.

The rate for our company went up 241.38% from when we first started using Hootsuite 4 years ago. Also NO REFUNDS once they have your money.
The rate for our company went up 241.38% from when we first started using Hootsuite 4 year ago!
In response to the price increase we finally had to cancel our subscription.
I understand increasing our rate each year by a little bit, but this is too much of an increase.
Also make sure you 100% want to get Hootsuite as a service, it is almost impossible to get a REFUND once they have your money. The only way to talk to them is through CHAT, you can't call this company at xxx-xxx-xxxx number. Good luck getting help as their tech support will do EVERYTHING in their power to NOT give you a REFUND!
Cancelling or pausing their service is extremely difficult as their billing page is is not easy to use. For me it was even worse then trying to call my ISP about my phone plan bad.
I don't recommend using this company until they get their pricing model to be more competitive with others on the market, the company allows refunds & tech support allows you to call them.

Great features, although missing a couple of key features
Ideal for overseeing multiple social media accounts, with highly valuable analytics details.
Nevertheless, there are a few notable features absent in the scheduling aspect compared to other platforms. These include the inability to incorporate geotagging (location data), the inability to add tags directly to Instagram post images (rather than just in the caption), and the lack of a grid layout preview for scheduled Instagram posts. The latter is especially useful for planning multi-grid posts and assessing the overall layout and color scheme of the grid when posts are scheduled.
Smells like dishonest commercial practices
I subscribed for a trial and realized the feature i wanted wasn't here. I tried canceling and thats when the nightmare started. I tried finding how to cancel my plan but the button "manage my billing" wasn't working. It led to "page not working try later". I thought the website was down and tried the button "upgrade my plan" but it was working like a charm. How convenient. I tried for the next hour still nothing. I then reached out to support mentionning the associated email and confirmed my wish to subscribe. The support waited 2 hours to get back to me saying:
"Thank you for reaching out to Hootsuite. My name is ****** from E-commerce Support and I'll be happy to assist you today! May I have the email linked to the account, please?"
Seriously? I just litterally provided my associated email. And of course i had stepped out since no one was answering when I was logged in. So the chat conveniently said:
"It seems you might have stepped away. Please feel free to reply to this message in case you have further questions, we'll be glad to assist you with anything else you may need. Have an excellent day!".
Oh how convenient.
So basically your page to cancel my plan is down and your customer support doesnt answer when i wait patiently and then conveniently skipped the information they needed to cancel my plan.
So now i have a pending unresovled charge coming. I had to go to my paypal account and find the planned transaction to cancel it. All in all I lost an entire hour chasing you and trying to cancel my free trial. Hence i don't mind losing another 5 writing others to let them know to be careful before considering starting a free trial and losing precious time.
This seriously smells like dishonest practices at worst, serious lack of customer care at best.

Honest and fair
I just want to acknowledge Hootsuite's honesty. I signed up for a free two-month trial and hardly used it- then forgot about it. Technically, legally even, they were right to charge me an annual fee after two months was up - I'd agreed to that when I signed up - and they did. But the moment I got onto them to say I'd forgotten they reimbursed me, no problem, no difficulties, right away. I am going to try them again, once I have more time to get my head around all the different things they do - they were recommended by two fellow novelists - but this time of year I'm crazy-busy.

Unresponsive support, taking your money without warning.
I’ve been charged 1437.58€ following the renewal of an account that I never used, and I was never contacted to remind me that the debit would take place. This is the first time I've seen this kind of procedure, even though I also work in the Saas sector. Avoid this company if you can. I submitted a request for a refund, which has obviously gone unanswered for 4 days. If no action is taken within 48 hours, I will file a complaint (and European laws are fortunately well suited to this kind of scam) + file a PayPal dispute.
If by any chance someone from Hootsuite is reading this, here’s my account number : 77555491

We have been using hootesuite for a couple of years and the subscription auto renewed an. d took an annual payment from our bank. We then received an email of a price increase. And contacted them to cancel and they will not refund the annual subscription which is paid until Sept 2024.
No contact number. Nobody you can speak to. Really poor customer service.
Basically robots you are speaking with.
