After 6 weeks the car developed a serious fault. Petrol fumes leaking into the car making it dangerous to drive. The AA- fantastic by the way- took it back to Horsepower. The salesman, who was all friendly, chatty etc whilst selling it, was rude, patronising and totally belligerent. Told me I couldn't get a courtesy car for nearly a week, so I had to hire a rental. I had to repeatedly call, text, email often having to wait over 2 hours for any response. When I eventually got the car back, no one bothered to explain anything, no paperwork detailing the fault, the interior was dirty, a child's car seat had been pulled apart and nearly half a tank of petrol used. They just gave me the keys and didn't even show me to the car, had to search for it in the forecourt. Absolutely disgusting treatment. Hope I never have to go back there again !!

For clarity, the car was recovered to us by the AA due to a fuel smell and noise. Our technicians diagnosed a faulty injector, which was replaced. The vehicle was then road tested multiple times, including extended test drives, with videos and updates sent to you throughout the process. The issue was resolved and the car was returned to you in full working order, at no cost.
Courtesy cars are limited and allocated based on availability. At the time, we were unable to provide one immediately. We appreciate that this was inconvenient, but it was not a refusal to help.
When you collected the car, the work had been completed and explained via the video updates already sent. Child seats are removed during inspection and testing for safety reasons and cannot be refitted by us. Extensive road testing does use fuel, but we are always happy to top this up if requested.
For balance, as of November 2025, 87% of our Trustpilot reviews are rated Great or Excellent. We have been trading since 2002 and look after thousands of customers each year.

Great experience
Everyone was very welcoming and cheerful when I dropped my car off. I was kept well updated and the video reviewing each point of my car felt highly professional and detailed! My only issue is that there was very little space to park my car however everything else made up for it!

Fantastic experience

Over and above!
They repaired my car after it was crashed into while parked. The quality of the work is very high. The staff were friendly and kept me informed.
The whole experience was much more enjoyable than other local garages.

Unhelpful salesman and a wasted journey
Unhelpful salesman, didn't have car out and wouldn't even show it to us.
They literally were expecting us to come and look and test drive a particular car . We told them we were coming, and drove 1.5 hours to get there. When we arrived they said they couldn't get the car out as there were too many other cars that would need to be moved, and also one of the staff had left and they didn't have keys to that compound . Ridiculous. We had a completely wasted journey , the man was not empathetic at all and really didn't seem to care, in fact he was quite rude. Thankfully it was a blessing in disguise as we found a similar car for sale privately which we bought, and saved about £1500 not to mention the better experience. The whole point of paying a premium for a car from a dealer is that the experience should be stress free and worth it, but this was incredibly frustrating and it put me right off the place.

Thank you for the feedback and sorry for the wasted trip. Your review arrived within a few minutes of another from what looks like the same visit. You came late in the day and the car requested was in our HP3 compound, which needs other vehicles moved before we can access it. With only one person on site at that moment, fetching it would have meant closing the showroom. We made a judgment call to keep the showroom open and explained the situation. It is not ideal and we accept that. We are tightening appointment checks so keys, access and car location are confirmed ahead of visits. If you fancy giving us another go, we would love to make it a better experience next time.

The car smelt so bad inside from valeting chemicals and artificial fragrance
The salesman was not only unhelpful but a bit rude. We wanted to view a car they had advertised but was advised over the phone that it 'hadn't come in yet' so we waited for a day or two until it was in and came over to view. it turns out it WAS there but was being valeted, which is the worst thing they could have done with the car , not only the stench from the chemicals used on the interior but the fake gloss they apply to the tyres to make them look newer than they are. Not even new tyres look slimy like that. We would have preferred a more honest looking car. We went somewhere else and bought a car. The man was quite abrupt and not sympathetic.

With only one person on site at the time, bringing a car out would have meant closing the showroom. The other salesperson had to leave unexpectedly, which is why access was slower than usual. Most visitors are understanding once we explain, but we know it felt sloppy here and we are sorry. We are improving how we stage cars and confirm access so viewings run more smoothly. If you decide to pop back, we will have the kettle on and the keys ready.

Do not purchase from Horse Power
My son purchased a car that clearly hadn't been checked over before sale and within 6 days there were multiple problems. Due to the time scale, we knew he was entitled to a full refund which to their credit they said they would issue. However this took them ages to process and when we requested evidence the refund had been actioned, it showed they lied and hadn't issued it when they said they had. This delayed my son being able to purchase a replacement car. I would not purchase from them again and have since heard similar horror stories

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry your son’s experience was not as smooth as anyone would want.
For clarity, the MINI was inspected and road tested before sale. We had also used it ourselves on and off as a pool car and it drove really well, a little pocket rocket. With older, lower priced cars, faults can still appear despite pre-delivery checks. When your son raised concerns within days, we agreed to unwind the deal and issued a no quibble full refund. We accept the timing felt slow at points and we are improving how we keep customers updated during refunds.
The car was rechecked and has since been sold again, and the new owner is happy with it. We have been in business since 2002 and have sold thousands of cars, with many customers returning to us every week. We know not every experience will be perfect, but we do act in good faith and try to put things right when issues arise.
We hope, in time, you might reconsider us in the future.
